| | not interested in the xxx kind more of extraodinary or mundane ones. Since this is the of topic forum i have some questions. One of my dreams is about playing basketball,another hobby of mine, and of course im able to dunk like Jordan but shooting the basketball doesnt work which is backwards in real life. Im wondering what dreams ,especially sci fi type dreams, people have and are there certain things you cant do in a dream but have tried. Other examples i cant do are shoot a gun or throw other objects.  | |

| Well most of mine take place up in Maine of all places. There's the shared-reoccuring dream my brother and I had about being chased by bi-pedial wolves with silver/white eyes. I also remember walking along the seashore and noticing the sand ahead of me was darker than usual. As I got closer I saw it was due to the rotting bodies of fish and other sea creatures piled upon the sand. As I walked further I began to find half decayed bodies of men, Women and children in great amounts. I was too afraid to walk any further so I stood in this vast stinking morasse of blackened and swollen bodies....

| | One that sticks out in my mind happened when I was still a kid. A stalky man in a heavy overcoat was chasing me, trying to kill me with a knife. I was faster than he was, as he might have had a bit of a limp (can't remember for sure). He was able to corner me at a wharf, so I ran down to where the boats were and jumped onto a boat and hid under a tarp. I remember hearing him walk along the planks looking for me in the many different boats, and when I snuck a peak, he was getting closer and closer to the boat that I was hiding in. He doesn't find me and he goes on by to the next boat. When I can hear that he is much farther away, I jump out, and start running in the direction that he originally came from, towards the mainland. He hears and sees me, and slowly starts making his way in my direction, while I put some distance between us. | |

| I had a dream (I was about 15) that I had to complete Hercules' 12 tasks, but that the 12th task was killing a werewolf. I don't remember too much about the dream anymore, but, I do know that as I was killing the werewolf in my dream, in real life, something happened to the headboard of my bed and my bed fell apart and I crashed to the floor. In the dream, I was wrestling the werewolf to the ground, and he was biting at me, and I was struggling; at the same moment, in real life, my bed fell apart and crashed to the floor. That was a very, very weird way to be jolted awake, and about the weirdest dream I could be having at the same time.

| 've never had a recurring dream of more than two nights. And usually, those were related to something I was intenseley doing for a few days (Finals, qualifiying testing, etc.)

| I remember a dream where a friend and I were walking down a road beside a stream. A human-sized frog jumped out of the stream, produced a document called "The Frog's Bill of Rights", and proceeded to explain how we were not allowed to walk near the stream, as their Bill of Rights clearly forbid it.
I had another dream where my Signifigant Other(tm) and I went out to a restaurant that served records (y'know, what music used to be available on) rather than food. A rubber dancing skelton was our waiter; he had a list that he recommended albums from, just like a wine list would be used in a normal eatery. | |

| LP's. I also have had dreams where I've just purchased the coolest Game/ Mini set, then wake up pissed off that they don't exist. I often have dreams involving exploring fictional cities/towns. Â
I tend to be married to Uma Thurman for some reason.
I don't have nightmares too often, but the ones I do have usually end up with me being eaten by something, and not in a good way. | |

| It's rare that I have normal dreams. Most of the time I have pretty wiggy nitghmares. Or at least the nightmares are the ones I tend to remember. Whether it's a dream or a Nightmare..... they always seem to take place at my family's summer home in Maine. The place must have an especialy orienic atmosphere. I always sleep peacefully up there.

| emember one semi-recurring dream.
I would be watching the Tonight show (while awake) and during commercials, for some reason, I would fall asleep, but my dream started with me still watching the show, it was seamless, and Jay would come back, I'd be watching, then the dream would get surreal. That's when I'd go "WTF" and wake up. weird.

| My brain works funny. I'm a lucid dreamer and dreams for me are like real life--everything is in color, first-person perspective, all five senses active, and I can both read and speak foreign languages (at least the ones I know when awake). It's less like dreaming and more like existing in a world where you can change the channel if you don't like what's going on. I rarely remember dreams because I'm aware I'm dreaming so my brain just filters it.
I haven't had a nightmare in many, many years.

| The only movies/books which ever caused nightmares or sleep loss were The Changeling (movie), Something Wicked This Way Comes (movie/book), and It (book). Granted, horror seemed much scarier when I was younger  | |

| | It was like an episode of the x-files. There was a kid playing outside when a flash of light hit the area. Afterwards he was lying still on the ground. Then I think.... I and some other guy game to investigate. It seems he had been found on the ground quite a bit. During the last couple of attackws his mother saw the flash of light. We are interviewing him when something hits us. The files on the kid indicate that he is mentaly retarded. However the child that we are questioning is quite intelligent and bright. After the next "flash attack" we question him again and he's able to tell us what's been happening. A golden man has been apearing and been giving him a "special drink" of golden liquid. We anaylize the liquid in the lab and find it contains many of the chemicals found in the the brain and pituitary glands. Further testsing shows the liquid contains traces of DNA from as many as 12 people. The next time the flash occours the child does not recover. He's lying in the backyard, blood pooling out of his nose and ears. The Golden man came again, but this time he took; he did not give. The thing that woke me up was the "golden man" lurking outside my window. His form kept on shifting from Christ-like, to Demonic to Alien. However it always gave off a golden light and the gold yellow eyes never changed. | |

| Interesting how it shifted from what seems more like a third party situation (even though you were involved in the dream), to a first person, with the "golden man" lurking outside your window. That would jolt me to awaken too.
How would I analyze this? Maybe you know something about someone powerful that they don't want you to know, and are afraid that they might take some kind of action against you? | |

| Had several (recurring) dreams as a kid/teenager, nowadays there are not many dreams I can remember. But here a few from the past:
Recurring dream 1: Allways at the start of the night, when I'm on the verge of falling asleep. Thumping sound in my head, like a heartbeat. everything is slow motion. I am slowly walking up a wooden stair, with a door at the end, and the door is slightly ajar, light shines from behind the door. Everytime I reach for the door handle, I wake up.
Recurring dream 2: Slow motion again. I'm at the top of the stairs in my parental house. I look down and jump, slowly fall down and float to the bottom of the stairs, landing perfectly.
Non-recurring, but weird dream 1: I was in a german holiday villa, and my entire family is there as well. Don't ask me why I think it's a german villa, it just was. Especially remember my grandfather being there, just standing. He was a tall, strong, imposing man, stately, allways in a gray suit and bald. There is a pool, and I have to dive in. Swimming underwater I have to pass through some sort of membrane, dividing the pool in two halves. It entraps me, and I slowly suffocate in the membrane, I wake up.
Non-recurring, but weird dream 2: I walk down the street from school towards my parental home. When I approach my home (3 stories, red brick, terraced), both the neighbours' houses are gone, and there is a moat surrounding our house. It's an empty moat (no water), save for a few huge crocodiles. Suddenly, I'm inside the house in my room. The window is open and I'm playing with LEGO. A tiger-cub jumps through the window into my room. I cuddle the cub. He grows into an adult tiger and eats me. An eagle flies into the room and grabs the tiger, flies off towards his nest in the mountains. drops the tiger into the nest and flies off again. Young eagle chicks start jumping on the stomach of the tiger, and like the contents of a squeezed tube of toothpaste, I come squirting out, flying into the distance.
Non-recurring, but weird dream 3: I'm sitting on a throne and my best friend sits beside me. A bit lower, next to my right knee. He kneels and I extend my hand out to him. His head is shaven. I put my fingertips on his bald head, dark chitine-like talons extend from my fingertips and dig into his cranial skin. He screams and his eyes bulge and dies, I cry.
Non-recurring, but weird dream 4: I'm walking on a green dike, next to a canal. There is a ruined castle in front of me. Blazing with fire. As I approach I notice bodies strewn about. All my friends, classmates, familymembers. All dead, each a few feet away from the next. Every corpse I approach has dark ebon arrows in the chest, 3 or 4 each. I recognize my mother, my older sister, the guy who lives three houses down the street with his white sheepdog, a boy who teases me in school, a girl I secretly like, my uncle, one of the cassiers at the supermarket. I start running from corpse to corpse, everyone I know, all dead, I'm alone.

| | I wouldn't say I have recurring dreams, but I love the dreams I have when I can fly. Sometimes I have to hold something like a kite or a board and sometimes I can just fly. Every time though, I have to run and jump in the air to fly, and it's always night time and close to completely silent. I can feel myself run, leap into the air and become weightless. My stomach churns like right before/after the big loop on the first rollercoaster of the day. I can feel the breeze, smell sweet moisture. It's always serene, so peaceful. I think the last one I had I was flying above some picturesque small town with lots of trees, old timey street lamps, town square, clock tower, etc. I ran along a quite street, my feet make light thumps on the ground and I jump. And I flew. I just knew I could for some reason. I wanted to see how high I could go, and I was hundreds of feet above the ground and suddenly, it became clearer and the stars shone very brightly. My stomach was churning as I climbed higher and higher. Then I decided to land. And every time I land, I begin to lose the ability to fly. I can run, jump, and float for a bit. And with every attempt I make, my ability dwindles down to nothing. I get a bit sad/disappointed, but the serenity I feel when I am in the sky is just otherworldly..... | |

Usually, when you're falling off of a cliff, or about to get into a fatal car accident in a dream, you wake up before you actually die in your dream. | |

Usually, when you're falling off of a cliff, or about to get into a fatal car accident in a dream, you wake up before you actually die in your dream.
It can happen, but usually self-preservation kicks in.
Backstory- I am a comatose sleeper. Nothing wakes me up. I have two kids under 3, and I've only been woken up once, when my daughter kicked me in the eyeball. I have slept through screaming, hitting, kicking, falling, and in one case, a car crash. Anyway, as a youngster (9-13)Â I had to go through some occasional exercises to make sure I woke up from those kinds of dreams, because there was the chance I would be too deep asleep to save myself. Dream recognition stuff, because there was a slim chance that if I did hit the bottom of the cliff, I might die (the brain could stop the heart) Like I said, it was a slim chance ( < .1%) So, it's possible, but extremey unlikely. I think the comic is more stating that you'rwe killing the other people in your dreams when you wake up. Touche`, subconcious, touche` indeed.

Like when your surgeon sasy "hey, a 5 lb. medicine ball would be good to toss aroudn to help strengthen the muscles again" after you get the cast off your arm.

| No, just taking time every hour or so to evaluate my surroundings and decide if I was in a dream or not. That way, you get used to it, and when something seems spectacular or out of the ordinary in a dream, you recognize it, and don't get drawn in too deep by sleeping.
