 The State that invented Spam!

| Yeah, my FLGS got evicted a few months ago. Mainly due to some @#$%#@ moves by the owner in screwing over its employees. Yeah, I put in my 2 cents here and there. The owner literally abandoned the store, never paying bills, buying new product. Talk about lame. I'm quite sad by this move, but when the employees literally hand you hundreds of dollars in product the day they have to clear out was a decent thing. Unicorn Games is no more, but something new might come out of this. One of the former employees is possibly opening his own store.

| That seems to happen now and again with FLGS. [:/]
One of the places on my way to work shut down, finacial issues I think. Now several of the employees have started a FLGS co-op in Amherst.

| | One problem is too many shops like game stores are opened as an extension of a hobby and not as a real business and unless blessed with super locations and volumes of customers, will be doomed to fail eventually. The ones that endure tend to be the ones with a real business model behind them and the ability to treat the store as a real business and to make decisions on facts not emotion. | | Built the addition for this addiction, now on to the "gaming table" project.... http://www.maxminis.com/hw_list.asp?user=Zenako last updated 29 May 2006 Set Status: in a nutshell = all of all In Process trades 0), (Sig last updated 05/29/06) 300 plus Completed Trades -

| | What Zenako said is very true. It's usually the friendly hobbyist that goes out of business. The biggest FLGS has an owner that runs a pretty tight ship. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

| This is exactly why one of my majors is business.
My wife has her bsuiness degree as well.
Some day, when I open a Game Store, I'll have my knowledge, plus her POV as well, to help keep the ship righted.

| | I know some of the local hobby shops around Boston and the ones that are compeltely willing to drop entire lines of products when the demand drops too low are the ones that last. If it is not moving, stop stocking it. The ones with the piles of dusty product are soon destined for the closing/clearance sales. The advent of the internet has given some shops a new lifeline however, which can reduce the impact of location to a degree, IF they create a suitably large footprint on the web.

| The internet can at least help you move the dead product. Maybe not at the greatest rates, but it's better than nothing.

This certainly looks like the new blueprint for a successful gaming hobby shop. Be both an FLGS, and an FLGS to the rest of the world. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

| Sorry to hear about your FLGS closing.Â
Hopefully you have another one in the area and or that another one locally opens soon.Â
