The wife and I just finished watching The Call of Cthulhu movie (produced by the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society) last night and I can't say enough good things about this film!

Now before I go any further I need to point out that this film is done in the silent film style; that is it is in black and white with a musical score and captions instead of a dialog soundtrack. It is also the most accurate movie portrayal of ANY H.P. Lovecraft tale I have seen to date.

The actors are convincing enough expression-wise to convey a lot of the suble nuances that need to come across and the music sets the mood very nicely!

One other thing I should mention is that they used stop-motion for Cthulhu himself - no fancy CGI involved! They were shooting for the look and feel of a 1920's silent film and they succeeded! This is a great film for anyone who runs a Call of Cthulhu game. I'd highly encourage people to rent/buy it if they can and make a night of it with their group.

And no, I am not affiliated with the HPLHS or the movie cast/crew in any way, though I will admit to an ulterior motive...if enough folks support this film they (hopefully) will make more! *Crosses fingers for The Color Out Of Space*

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

I think the Whisper in the Darkness should be out by now, or soon I think.  It's also black and white, but this one is a Talkie.

Pathetic Earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void - without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe - anything at all - you would have hidden from it in terror.
