the only things I have to have the latest of are games.

Does the wooden underwear chafe? 
The main reason I got into HD was opportunistic purchases. I managed to snag my ps3 with 8 movies for $200 (very large gamestop store credit from tradeins). Back in December amazon kept running BOGO sales. Most blu-ray and HD-DVD were as cheap as their DVD counterparts (average price I've paid for either format is ~$11 a disc).
It also helps that Vizio TVs are very high quality for rather low price. 42" 1080p LCD TV is available for around $999. Expensive, but not beyond the realm of reason.
Having the TV hooked up to my PC is very convenient during gaming since I can pull up maps/art/music/etc. during the session. | |

Since I'm a college student ad infinitum I'm also a tightwad 
The irony of life is that half of me is completely luddite (I spend a LOT of time reading/swimming/painting and I really dislike cell phones/text messaging/cable TV) while the other half is pretty tech-savvy (I used to be a network engineer and hardware specialist). I live in a strange world where I literally can't remember a time in my life when we didn't have a computer (Commodore 64, Atari, Apple) but I really dislike certain aspects of the digital age (Pod people, texting, 1ee7, newbs).

| Zenthrus and I have a lot in common. I take networking and computer courses, and trobleshoot for friends, but don't have a cell phone.
I love music, but don't have an Ipod.
Strange days we live in.

Well put. That's why I have a cell phone (work) but leave it at home if I'm going out socially (movies, theater, opera, etc).

Well put. That's why I have a cell phone (work) but leave it at home if I'm going out socially (movies, theater, opera, etc).
I'll be geting one soon, as I will be away from home for long periods of time (all work week) and commuting a distance. But I'm still of the opinion they are too intrusive into peoples lives.
