| We hit around $4.35 a few weeks ago, but has come down and been somewhat steady at $4.23 a gallon the few days / week. But I expect it to back up again with a barrel of oil hitting a high yesterday of $139. And I read yesterday that they think it will get to $170 a barrel. Can you say Jesse James without a gun.Â

| Wel, Satrday, it jumped from 3.93 to 4.05, but I gassed up right before it did, so I half-win.
It did go over 4 before July, but I didn't have to pay more than 3.99 til July.

| My gas prices just went down as well, to $3.999 (I hate how gas is allowed to be sold in values less than a penny).
Anyway, yes, I have a big tank, I think it's about 25 gallons.

| I paid $5 a gallon at the Grapevine (for those in the know), it is the grind before you hit the valley of SoCal. The almighty "Gutless Honky Mofo"('02 Dodge Caravan) came thru again and served us well. I paid this price goin in but not out. The trip back from LA was miserable as it took us 2 hours in stop and go traffic to get out of LA. Considering it was a Friday I figured we lucked out somhow. Traffic did not start to thin until we were past Six Flags. Argh!

Okay, let's hear some opinions. I'll give you guys & gals three options, and you tell us which scenario you think is most likely to happen and why.
a) gas will eventually become cheaper again like it did after the original 70's fuel crisis
b) hybrids, alternative fuel, and super-efficiant cars will become the norm
c) people will start fighting for and stealing fuel, and we are going to see our world turn into a Road Warrior/Mad Max wasteland Around 1,50 euro/litre in France. That is around 9$/gallon. And I have to drive 70 km/day to go to work... Thankfully I'm on holiday at the moment.
BTW :
a) : Don't even dream of it. Hell will freeze over before that.
b) : Most likely to happen (even though alternative fuels are a joke). People may have to stop to buy stupid things to pay for fuel too, and that's pretty good.
c) : Will happen on a long term basis, if we don't research more about solar energy and if we don't change our lifestyles.

Count yourself lucky, it is $4.64 per gallon here when I filled up my tank last night. Fortunately I only have to drive 10 miles to get to my work, and the wife and I both work in the same building.
As for the scenarios, I'd say that b) is most likely with a little bit of c) thrown in already. I've heard stories of gas theft here and there, though nothing locally. I've also heard of a couple countries that are working on hydrogen powered cars, and of course more folks are giving up their SUVs for hybrids from what I've been hearing lately as well.
