| I sent some minis to Canada but, after almost 4 weeks, they don't appear to have arrived. It sucks that we can't get tracking numbers internationally (can we?). Anyway, I guess they have become lost in the depths of the US postal service. [:(]
Anyone else have experiences like this?

| Hmmm, interesting.
I sent to thenameless (Philippines to Canada) via registered air mail on the 5th of December. He received on the 18th (a little under 2 weeks).
I made sure his mailing address was all in caps, but I'm not sure if that's the reason it got to him fast.
But I have experienced a couple of late packages to Canada before too. It took about 4-5 weeks to get to the recipient. But that's Philippines to Canada.

| At least there are two positive aspects to the whole lost in the mail thing: (1) There were only commons involved in the trade so I didn't lose much, and (2) I posted first so I don't need to return anything to Sir Bozak.
So I guess it could be said that I got lucky this time. However, if I ever get involved in a big trade (multiple rares) being sent to Canada (or anywhere internationally I guess) I'm going to be super-nervous about it! | |

| I've had several trades to Canada that took for-frick'n-ever.
Greyhaze and I had a trade back in 2004 that went over 6 weeks from the date I sent (from the US to Canada). Eventually it was just returned to me as undeliverable. I resent it at the higher rate (~$15 for DC and insurance) and it arrived no problem.
I currently have an off Maxminis purchase that I sent to Canada about 5 weeks ago and it still has not arrived.
Most of the time it's more like 2-3 weeks. | |

| My purchases from Canada generally take longer than those from the U.S. One time, it took the minis 9 weeks (!!!) to get here. On the other hand, I received minis from bonelock after only 8 days.
It seems that the Canadian postal service is generally a lot more incosistent than the USPS, as packages from the U.S. arrive here within 2 weeks 9 out of 10 times. | |

I recently had a package come from Canada and take much longer than it should have. However, when I send to Canada, it usually goes fairly quickly.
The only things that I can think of that might be holding up you're package would either be the increased volume that the post office has to deal with this time of year or some sort of customs hang up. | |

As I have a relative who is a post-person, I can say that holiday madness for the PO begins Thanksgiving and ends after new years. Its a crazy hectic time of year for them. | |

| You think 6 weeks is bad...my trade seems to have been lost in shipping limbo for far longer.
I engaged in a trade to Australia in early September. The other party received 9/15. I have yet to receive. I don't think I've been duped. I just think something probably got lost between there and here (here being San Francisco).
In anycase, it's not something I'm willing to report yet as a bad trade. Boats can be slow. [)] And it's not like I've lost any sleep over it. I just hope it shows up one day. I told the other party and he sounded more than willing to reship since I hadn't received. We'll see.
But the experience has definitely made me wary of the vagaries of international shipping. | |

Sorry to hear that it has soured your possible trading overseas. Anyhoo, have you contacted your trade partner? I would think that contacting him would be the way to go.
Have you had conistent communication with him, or is he ignoring your emails?

I'd say he has been pretty responsive. When I first told him of my dilemma, he was more than happy to resend. He told me to wait to see if it hadn't arrived by a certain date and to tell him. I did, but didn't yet get confirmation on a resend. However, to be fair, that was perhaps less than a month before the holidays, and that time of year can be very hectic for some. I don't detect any malice or shadiness here. Just life or a possible mailing snafu.

| My shipment also arrived, 6 or 7 weeks later. And like Shadroth, they had been sent by surface mail (at least I didn't see any air mail stickers on them).
In my experience (and I've been reasonably lucky so far) if it's sent air mail (to or from Canada) and it's not held up in customs, it's usually two weeks or less. | |

| Come on Nix...I traded with someone from Australia and expected a long delay and it was much shorter than that 6 weeks nightmare and am awaiting another trade with the same person that is probably taking a little longer because of the holidays. With oversees trades I can understand, I am not THAT bad a person ;)
P.S: If you read the whole thing, you will notice I was lied to about the shipping date and the interface showed the wrong date as well. That is something that I cannot accept. | |

Just a quick note, before the thread gets locked. Global Express mail does come with a tracking number. I've ordered a number of packages using this method, and the number is the same as the receipt number for the package. They can be tracked 100% while they're within the US. After that, the tracking gets somewhat unreliable. However, even this is good enough to see if somebody has sent the package and to check the date when it left the US. | |
