Hey all, I am looking for opinions on what the best policy would be for my following predicament.

I am a very punctual person and therefore I strive to reply to things very quickly and do not like to make people wait. This of course is not everyone's habit and I understand it and respect everyone's times and schedules.

I was wondering this, I sent a trade proposal to a member (who has been clearly active on the boards since) on March 11th and it has not been declined nor have I gotten a response/counter/any email regarding it (still Pending Review). Time has been short and I am cool with that and I do have patience, however I have the personal policy of tying up the minis I propose to someone and I don't propose them to several people at the same time so there are no hard feelings and things like "sorry, but that one is now gone since I found a better offer.

Back to the point. How long should I wait for a response from this user before I just rescind my proposal? So I can untie them and I can start offering them up again.

Thanks.

Great question. I would say 48 hours seems reasonable.

48 or 72 seems reasonable, although weekends should not count, most have families or friends they attend to during that time and can delay a response. I also have someone that has not replied in nearly two weeks...

I think that after 72 hours (unless it's a weekend or some sort of holiday), I would email them and say I am withdrawing my proposal since they haven't responded in a timely manner. I would rescind the offer. I would also say that if I still had the miniatures I offered them and they still wanted to go through with the trade, they could make the same proposal back to me and we might have a trade after all. But, meanwhile, I would seek other trades.

I asked this very question a few months ago when I first started trading and Zenako,I believe, answered me with 'wait a few days not counting the weekend as life can get in the way sometimes' I am of course paraphasing.

I am in the same position as Glumag, I usually check my emails everyday and any offer I make with a mini takes that mini out of play until the offer is resolved. Now I wait 3 business days on a mini I might use in another offer, if its a mini that I don't need for something else I usually wait a week. So far I have only had to rescind one offer and that one didn't have a response for over 2 weeks.

Thanks all for the responses.

I appreciate the fact that people have real life issues, etc. But if you have time to gingerly post in the forums then perhaps checking your trade history wouldn't hurt, you never know what good surprises you'll find. [)]

Well, I had a nice long post about how I am [probably] the offending party in this matter, although inadvertantly so. But I lost it because I was logged in under the old account and forgot that particular little fact when I attempted to post.

*sigh* Somedays it doesn't pay to be me. Actually that's most days. Today just happens to have an added dose of confusion. [^]

Anywho. There are two accounts; "A Can of the Cave Beer" and "Can of the Cave Beer". It's a longer-than-it-should-be tale of a forgotten password, a twitchy database that refused to admit that I was logged in, and an account that either somehow survived deletion or was accidentally recreated during a database switch. It's also got a largely unused (even by my standards) email account thrown in for confusion.

Hopefully this post will work. And I'll be attempting to get with jai about getting rid of at least one (preferably only one!) of those accounts.

I sincerely apologize for this little snafu.

[Edit: It only took THREE times to actually get this to post! *grrr*]
