Sorry if this has been asked before, I understand that the seach option has been disabled for the meantime so I couldn't look for an answer.

Is it important that a mini should be 'bagged' or not removed from its plastic, for a trade? Will this diminish the price/tradeability of the fig?

How can you notice that the item, though removed from its bag, is only displayed and never played? Someone mentioned to me that discoloration often results from a fig being handled too much, or was frequently used in a 'smokey' environment? Are these true?

Thanks! :)

Some folks make a big deal out of bagged vs. unbagged, but I think most traders are either indifferent or expect minis to be unbagged.

Given that the paint stands up to a fair amout of abuse, I would think it would be resistant to any discoloration through normal handling, etc. And if not, you could probably wash them relatively easily so long as you don't scrub them with a brush.

Many people don't care whether a mini is bagged or not as long as the mini is in good condition and still has its stat card. Most collectors that expect bagged minis will specify this during trade negotiations.

I've never witnessed any discoloration through handling of minis. Very rough handling can chip away the paint in some cases, but I haven't seen any problems just from touching the minis. Has anyone else observed this?

I have heard reports of minis from the homes of smokers carrying a significant odor along with them. I haven't experienced this myself (I'm a non-smoker), but it may be something to look out for.

The default assumption here, AFAIK, is that minis will be unbagged and with a stat card. If a trader wants the minis bagged it stated so.

You know, I keep thinking that after the new design team gets done with D&D 4e, D&D won't stand for Dungeons and Dragons anymore, because well, that's just not fun. It's old and stuffy. - Originally Posted by BabWryter on Kenzerco.com
