| ..::update::.. Just a quick note, we are Sold OUT. You will be able to use Generic Tickets to get in and play, but will not be garunteed a map. There might be some for prizes, but only the original 64 will be garunteed a map.
..::update::.. Map contest information as follows:
Jenkiis' Merchant Quarter Gate map is the winner. Congratulations Jenkiis!
Congrats to all the members who submitted maps for this event. It was great to see so many submissions.
Only 3 days until Gen Con.
DATE: Saturday Agust 12
TIME: 7:30-8:00 pm start time
PLACE: Minis Hall
FORMAT: We will be doing a draft with 200 point boosters which will include Archfiends, GoL, Deathknell, Angelfire, Underdark, Wardrums, and WotDQ.
Everyone will bring 2 boosters from the above list as well as a prize or two to add to the prize box. Prizes can be anything from boosters, rares, repaints, to adult beverages, custom pieces, or even D&D books. We have had some great prizes for this event.
We will run 4 rounds of nonsanctioned fun. This will give people a chance to play new people and experience the fun of drafting.
Drafting will be done in pods of 4. One person will open both boosters and spread the cards out in 2 rows (one row for each booster). The player opening the boosters picks one card first, then each play to the right picks one card. When you get to the last person, they pick 2 and then the person to their left picks one until you get back to the first person who opened the boosters. Continue with the porcess. Once all cards are gone, the next person opens both boxes and continue.

Although I missed playing @ Winter Fantasy, I was a little busy ;-)
My buddy Josh Dartez did finish with a 3-0 record! George also had a great time...
Thanks again to everyone that put this together - Especially Rob for the map design and Chad for the printing and laminating!

10 people to date, this is huge!

Steve, I did not want to presume you would be there, but I thought so. Glad to know you're coming too.
12 and counting. I would like to see this go over 50 players this year.

| As this will be an actual event, is it okay to bring in others? (I don't mean any old person off the street, but others who are connected in some way, like my son.)
If so, I'll have a higher count for you soon.

| I will be attending, so put me down. I should be able to print up to 30 copies again with at least one month advance notice. I print about 3-4 a day as I have time in my work schedule.
Is it possible to get four rounds in instead of three? I'd like to get the chance to play more people and with such a large number of players we should play more rounds anyway. Especially if the rounds are so short. The one at Winter Fantasy went by way too fast. It seemed like all my time an effort was gone in a blink of an eye for just a few hours of gaming. If we get numbers approaching 50 players then we should definetly go four rounds if not five. | | Member of Team Amish 3rd Place in 2007 Constructed World Championship My combined DDM Skirmish record of all games ever played in all formats. 486 - 188 - 4

If people are for 4 rounds then I say sure. I function better on less sleep so for me it is all good.
For the maps I'm hoping that with more time to plan the map contest, we can give you more time to print up the maps. I think we may have to start a thread for the map contest in March just so people can think about what the map is they want to submit and what the guidelines are for the map. We'll see in the next week or two.

Yea, keep in mind when Strider talks about being official with GenCon, our intent is that this will be registerd WITH GenCon, and all participants will be responsible for purchasing a ticket, or bringing Generic Tickets with them.
This also means that it is WIDE open for anyone who reads about it to register. We'll put a cap (maybe 64?) and I will encourage everyone here to preregister so that as many MaxMini's people as possible are IN the tourney. I suspect that Sean and I will completely sit this one out, as if we continue to have the kind of growth we've seen, we'll need 2 people to adminster everything!

| If I can make it there I will certainly be playing in this. Map contest aside I wished I could be there for the Winter Fantasy event but alas school keeps my from having too much fun (that and my student loans still haven't been awarded [:(!]). My best friend Dave went last year and he's planning on it this year as well so I'm definately going to be doing my best to go. So place me on the list with a question mark like Chris.

| Erik & I would definitely do it, pending on if we go. There's not a lot of information on the website yet. Badges are $65 for 4-days.. but is there additional charges per event? We're trying to figure out how much it'll cost in all. (We paid about $125ish each for WF) Help anyone? Any more information would be great. Past experience, etc. Anything. Email smieure@nc.rr.com

Stacy,
Just like WF the events have some prices tags. Things like league, though, run the entire time so you can play tons of games. Also, think of the event as being about 10 to 15 times larger. There is a vendor hall that makes the whole gaming area look tiny at WF. The vendor hall has tons of demos for free and lots of great stuff to see and get. The hotels are a bit steep and travel canbe high as well. I've been 2 years running now as have many others for more, let us know what else you need to know and we can collectively pick our minds.
Say hi to Erik.

| Stacey: I'll echo what Sean said.
You could play games every waking moment at GenCon and not pay another penny. Demo's of games are run all the time in the hall, and there are pick up games left and right nearly 24 hours a day!
Events generally cost $1.50 per 1.5 hours that they run. Sometimes there are additional charges that are tacked on (i.e. League: Ticket will probably cost $25.00, but that allows you to play all 4 days, just like WF, and you get 2 boosters as well...).
99% of RPGA events cost $4-6.00, ditto for constructed card games. Sealed is where it gets expensive.
Your transportation and hotel room is where your higher costs come in.
You can also check out this site: http://www.sockmonkey.ws/GCBasicCalc.htm
Which was an attempt at working up a calculator to figure out your estimated costs!
Hope to see the 2 of you there!

| OK, I've added a few more names and we are looking good. There is some good information here and we are about 25 players after only 2 days. I'll do my best to keep everyone informed as information changes and we begin to finalize more.
Ian in another post mentioned that the minis hall may be open 24 hours this year, which would be like the CCG hall. If that is the case the nwe will not have to worry about our ending time as much and get in at least 4 rounds. He also mentioned that Saturday night may be a good time to run the event. | | Sean Banks Champion of Elementals Official Organizer Gen Con 05 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 06 maxminis Event | Gen Con 06 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 07 Community Event

The event would be PM so as not to interfere with the Championship or any other WotC events. | Last year, finals on Saturday ran about 7 rounds. Assuming (big assumption, I know...), that it runs about the same this year, and a 9-10 am start time, the final 8 for Nationals will be determined by around 7-8:00 pm.
Obviously there will be pressure on the top 8 to get the other members of the top 8 to play, while they try to sneak out and get some rest for the next day ;-)
Seriously though, no one would expect the top 8 to play, but we had lots of people not wanting to play more than a round or 2 last year when we ran it on Thursday because they wanted to play in the grinder/not get burned out so early in the con.
Sunday is a bit of slow day anyway, and people are likely to be more willing to play till all hours on saturday night to begin with.
We'll have the flexibility to hold the start time until Finals are over (unless they suddenly delay the start till noon time, and have to play 9 rounds or some such!)
Man, at this rate, we'll easily hit 64 players (20 more than last year...).
