| I want to get this down before the details get mixed up with today's Release event...
We had about a dozen of the regulars show up, including some I haven't seen in a while. It was a 2 booster sealed, 200 pts.
I pulled a Night Hag and Wemic as my Rares. I went with: Wemic Warpriest of Moradin Trog Thug Brass Samurai Steelheart Archer Howling Orc Drow Outpost map
First Match: vs John the Elder on Drow Outpost (Assault) Hill Giant Barb, HG Chief, Sacred Watcher, Arcanix Gd
This was a good map for me here, his giants were unable to gang up on me... or so I thought. In the first round of movement, he led with his HGB. I knew there was no way I could gain Fearless from Bravado, so I led with my Wemic and hoped my good Commander could keep it from routing. Second round, melee, Sacred Watcher ghosts behind the Wemic and hits with flanking. Then HGB crits on Wemic. OUCH! Wemic fails morale and Sacred Watcher kills with AoO. I thought HGC might come over the bridge now, but instead he went to the side of it and smacked my Warpriest with Reach over the pit. I focused everything I had left on the HGB and routed it. Then it came to HGC vs Brass Sam and Warpriest on the bridge. HGC reaches over Brass Sam to crit the Warpriest behind her, turning him into a greasy spot. BS routs the Chief, but he rallies. In the end, it's his Arc Gd and HGC vs badly wounded Brass Sam and Steelheart. I catch a break - John forgets his Chief has a big ol' rock in his hand, and closes with the Brass instead. I win initiative and Brass hits with all 3 attacks, killing the Chief and putting me over 200. Had I lost initiative or missed with any of those attacks, he'd have smushed me. 1-0
Second Match: vs Ed on Field of Ruin (Cave of Pain) Brass Sam, WF Capt, Warbound Impaler, Zakya, Cougar
First off, this map requires a few minutes of careful study to determine where the "walls" are. Even then, it's easy to get confused during the game. First round, we gravitate toward the middle of the map. Unfortunately, my Wemic is far ahead of my commanders. Second round, Wemic goes after Zakya and gets routed for his trouble (Zakya hits twice for 15 + 5 from WF Capt + 5 from CoP x2 = 50 damage). Wemic routs, and 20 squares takes him to the very edge of the map! Meanwhile, I gang up on the WF Capt, using my breath weapon to finish him off. His guys gang up on my Orc, but Orc whirlwinds to show them why that's a bad idea. Wemic rallies, yay! Then it's mostly us trading blows in the center of the map until it finally comes down to my 5 hp Wemic and Steelheart vs his Brass Sam. He wins inish but it takes him 2 swings to finish the Steelheart. That leaves Wemic open for a charge, and with 5 hp left, he skewers the Brass Sam and wins me the game. Another close one! 2-0
Third Match: vs John Jr. on Drow Outpost (Assault w/Bounty) Shuluth, Wemic, HGB, Cougar
In retrospect, this was the worst possible map for me to use. His plan, which he carried out brilliantly, was to plug the bridge with the giant, mind blast and disorient me from across the pits with Shuluth, and splatter me with the giant and wemic. That's pretty much what happened, and I couldn't think of any way to counter it. By the time I killed the giant, I had nothing left for offense. My Brass Sam couldn't save vs Stun to save her life, and I got beat down hard. 2-1
Last Match: vs Eric on Drow Outpost (Assault w/Bounty again) Shuluth, Arcane Ballista, Trog, Blood Ghost, Sacred Watcher, Lg Doogie, Quaggoth
Same song, second verse. We were bunched up on the bridge, I had won initiative and was about to whirlwind his entire force with my Wemic... but I failed the Disorient save. Wemic took AoOs from his entire force, got off one whirlwind and then died. Then the same with my Orc. Then the same with my Brass Sam. Meanwhile, Sacred Watcher ghosted into my backfield to play havoc with the Trog, Warpriest and Archer. I

| Here's Victor's report (lordrahl_333), copied over from the schedule thread:
Results:
I like sealed, because you never know what you’re going to get. I read some background but didn’t get my hopes on any pieces, because I know I never get them, so I figured just play what you think is good. After going 2 and 2 I don’t think the band was band at all and could have worked out well if on some occasions the dice were with me. And this just goes to show you no matter what awesome thing you can come up with or are given, if the “Dice Gods” aren’t on your side you can still loose.
My Band:
Gulgar Inspired Lieutenant Blood Ghost Berserker Warforged Bodyguard Axe Soldier Sacred Watcher Warforged Scout.
Game 1:
Against Ed, He ran a Warbound Impaler, Cougar, Warforged Captain, Zakya Rakshasa, & Brass Samurai. This match was close, my scout got me 30 victory points right of the bat and then I utilized the Watcher to get more. Ed sat his cougar in a victory area and I just left it alone, the game was mostly a fight with the Warbound Impaler, this guy has huge amounts of hit point. I used the Fane of Lolth map because I was hoping I could draw people to the “blood gore” section and it did work. On the down side my Blood Ghost beater spent the whole game paralyzed, not one attack. Plus the darn Samurai gave the Impaler whirlwind and also kept hitting my guys. I fought hard and it went all the way to the end, we were both down on pieces and I think we had like two left. Points were the deciding factor and my Watcher couldn’t finish of his captain, but his Rakshasa finished my Gulgar, and that did it.
Game 2: Cave of Pain
Against Jason:
He ran; Lion of Tal., Shield wall soldier, Cougar?, Large Duergar, Ogre War hulk, & I think the Orc mauler. Another down and dirty battle everything just started dropping, leaving us with 2 figs each, his was the Ogre and Lion, mine the Inspired with 5 hit points and Gulgar with a little more then half, I knew I had to go after him because his two pieces were worth more. I had routed the Ogre and forced Jason to run, he saved it and healed it with the Lion. I got Gulgar in a position to charge and hoped it was going to be enough, but I think either I missed or he had just enough to survive the 35 damage. I brought my Inspired right behind Gulgar in hopes to try his psychic ability, but fate had other plans. The Ogre attacked my Gulgar and he failed his morale save, he is slow so I wasn’t too worried, but with the Gulgar out of the way the Lion came up and killed my Marshal not allowing me to rally Gulgar and ending the game. After some forethought I think I should have just kept my Gulgar away and did ranged attacks forcing Jason to come to me, but in the heat of battle split second decisions must be made. Mine was just wrong.
Game 3: Assault with Bounty
Against Tony?
He ran a Night Hag, Warpriest of Moridan, Flameskull, Brass Sam, Blackblade?, & 2 Hobgoblin Archers. This match was scary because I didn’t want to get flamed which of course didn’t matter because I got hit by both the Flameskull and the Brass. My scout didn’t even get to get me assault points because the Warpriest made him route after 1 5 point hit. The night hag worried me because he was invisible and didn’t become visible until the Brass Sam was close enough to grant whirlwind attack. Thankfully the dice did cause him to miss most of time and I killed the hag quick. My Watcher was soaking up victory points on the other side of the board and I just left him there. Finally my Blood Ghost got to earn his keep, killing the blackblade, an archer, and a hit on the Brass; this allowed me to finish up his pieces with my other guys. Winning me this match.
Game 4: Assault with Bounty
Against Ben
Ben had Brass, Ogre War Hulk, 2 combat medics, Warforged Scout, Axe Soldier, & Quaggoth Slave. This match worried me because of the medic’s and the fact that I had an undead guy. Most of my army went down the center again toward the “blood bonus whatever”, but I had the Blood Ghost go after his scout which was sitting in a victory area, by the door. Again my Blood Ghost was a loser, the warforged hit him twice, the medic searing lighted him twice and the Ogre ran up and smashed his face, no attacks from this dork. What ended up saving me was this, the Inspired hit with his Agony blast causing 20 damage, and my Gulgar shot arrows into his hide (one being a crit I believe) this caused a route (thankfully) since the Ogre was so fast, Ben was forced to bring his Brass Sam to me. I surrounded it and smacked it around a little between my Axe soldier and Warforged Bodyguard. Ben attempted to rally the Ogre, but he failed and ran off the board (Thank You “Dice Gods”). Next round I won initiative and smacked the Brass, again causing it to route. This is were it got crazier, the medics came to the Brasses rescue and healed it twice, but when it came to trying to rally, the Brass failed by 2 and also ran off the board. Without his 2 fighters and me having my entire band left that was the end of this game.
Overall a great day, my record prevented me from having to face a Hill Giant Barbarian and Chieftain, or some of the other huge beater bands. My piece of the day I would have to say was the Gulgar, I was disappointed when I opened him, but have to say he did a lot of good work in all my matches, and overall I think he is a pretty good piece 47 points, a nice AC of 21, 2 melee attacks for 15, 2 ranged attacks for 10, DR, Melee reach, and a sonic pulse for 10 which I only ended up using once. My second favorite was the Lieutenant, the recall Agony worked every time, 2 attacks for 10 each at +10, a smite, and a heal sort, only got off once, but overall she did my band well.

| It was great time. 13 players showed up. We drafted from 9 booster for prizes (so 1st-9th got a rare). 4 rounds of the new triad.
John Jr ended up winning (4-0) and drafted a War Troll for his trouble.
I finished 9th (2-2) w/ a Orge, Lion commander, Dugar, cat, some orc, Giallion (routed every time off the board) and shield wall.
Next tourney is 3/25/06 200pt constructed new Triad 1100am sharpe.
I'm currently @ work, so no Dreamers for me. | | They just don't know what's good in life...Conan, tell them what is good in life. To rip the boosters. To count the minis spilled out before you, and to hear the indifference of the women...
