| With all the controversy that can surround events and judging, I wanted to start a posting where members could potentially offer their services. Until a certification process is put together we only have experience and word of mouth by which to assess worthiness of individuals to judge. Still it is a starting point. I will update with a list of who is willing to judge events and in what geographic location. If we want to debate the worthiness of judges or qualifications please do so in another thread I would like to keep this to just who is willing to judge and where their geographic limits are. Thank you ahead of time.
EDIT (18 June 2006 @ 1812EDT)

Vrecknidj (Dave Paul) Southwest lower Michigan (Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Battle Creek, etc.), North central and east Indiana (Gary, South Bend, Ft. Wayne, etc.), Northwest Ohio (Toledo, etc.)
Possibly, with enough advance warning, Detroit, Chicago, and Indianapolis as well.

And unlike the rest of these fools, I'll never be playing in any of the events (unless we somehow have a "draft-only" world championship), so I don't mind judging.
I'll also judge anywhere you want me to, you just have to provide me with reasonable transportation. For example, I already judged for the EU championships, seems like a stretch for a guy from NC, but it's not.
You want me there, give me enough advanced notice, cover the transportation, and treat me nice--you'll get the best judging this side of bshugg. | I would rather play too, but Orlando is rather far for me to drive and the number of players near Miami seems rather small. Sort of sad to go from a small, but consistent, minis community to no community whatsoever.

| This is a very good idea, perhaps (totally optional of course) the judges for hire could list some "qualifications" too? Not to yes or no their competence of course, but to give a baseline that might help in a future "maxmini's cert program."

I haven't decided. That is a bit more than a 4 hour drive (I was up at Disney last week, so I have a good sense of the drive) and given how little I have played since moving to Florida last fall, I am not sure my waning skills justify the cost of the trip. Add to the equation that GenCon is falling at a time that is really bad and that the WotDQ prerelease is the week after the qualifier and it looks like if I make a trip to Orlando it will most likely be for the pre-release on July 1st.

Western New York (Buffalo). Would be willing (provided there is some compenstion if too far away) to try and cover Toronto (seemed well covered), Pittsburgh, or help XenoZepher in Syracuse area.
I would need a little more intense study and maybe some guidance from Xeno (as an experienced judge), but I would be more than willing to throw my hat into the judging ring if needed in the areas.

My qualifications, then, I suppose, are that I've judged a handful of local events, that bshugg gave me the reins at a pre-release after he had to leave early, and that he's attended (and didn't complain too loudly about) an event that I judged. Not that it matters, but I've been to 20-something GenCons, have played in numerous other games, some RPGA, and have passed the (utterly unrelated) herald level DM test. Oh, and I suppose that DMing steadily since 1980 ought to count for something, even if it's not all that closely tied to minis.

| Hmmm, so what have you done?
LOL Just kidding. I have walked a gaming path very similar in duration and direction, and I think Decades of DM'ing do help organize a bunch of disparate people into an organized goal.
I have not been to as many Gencon's though, 8 I think? I think you have a geographic advantage on me there. Hmm, the spending 7 years outside of the country probably didn't help me on that stat either.

This thread is for judges to post their willingness to judge, geographical areas for judging, and games of expertise.
