| The Colorado Qualifier is just getting underway -- we have 15 players (Memorial Day weekend is killer for attendance!), including Drakkengi from Utah and Tried and Son and Sven from California.
I'll post an update on warbands and standings after our lunch break (after two rounds). Good luck to all the participants! | | H/W: http://www.hordelings.com/frontend/profiles/profile.php?user=ktatroe

Hmmmm... Yeah it being Memorial Day weekend could be part of the problem. All the qualifiers this weekend were pretty low inattendance. Could be that there is also so many qualifiers this weekend.

| Wish I have the money to be able to fly around like some players. Mark Reeves is obviously getting luckier than I did. Kord/Couatl/Bodyguard vs. GAS should be very interesting knowing that Dagni was dreading a match against me.

Round one: Abyssal blast, Cleric of Order, Mialee, Standard Bearer all die. Only the Pyromancer and the Marut survive. Cast fly on Marut, Couatl and Marut dive for cover from Beholder. Round two: The slaughter of the 6 kobold miners commences and Soth/ Beholder start moving up. Round three: Marut moves up to get ready to start the assualt, low and behold(er) the flying eye himself rolls a twenty on the Marut. No big deal only need a 7. Rolls a 3. Down to 10 hp and Soth walks up and rolls a 18. Bye Bye Marut[V]. Next round I figured to atleast make Sothfell some Empowered sonic orbs from the Marut but he wins init and slides and charges. 20. Morale check on the Couatl. 3 Nough said. The best match up here for me beat me the hardest. Just one of those days. Now I will stay and cheer for Mark ( who took out the Kord/Bodyguard warband [:0])
Edit: It was Tried'sson who beat me. Way to go Darien. Now he has to play his dad. | | Champion of Tavern Stripper Knight of Knights Squire of Death Giants Somethin-or-another of Big Arse Swords

| Wow, what a tourney!
I'm exhauasted. Congrats to all who qualified, and special thanks to the Utah and California contingents who came out to play. Thank you to Dalez, KTatroe (nice judging!) and all the Colorado Springs locals who were great hosts. This might have been a smaller qualifier, but it was truly competetive and fun.
With some much needed luck on my side, I was able to eek out the win against Felagund in the finals. What a gnarley game. After I get some sleep and finish out the Memorial Day weekend, I'll be sure to patch together something of a report.
For now, it's enough to say that Shuluth got the job done. Dragonne's are pretty sweet too - I'm certainly a believer in both now. | | Completed trades: arbados Completed 23 trades on Hordelings www.hordelings.com - http://www.hordelings.com/directory/profile.php?user_id=429

Yeah he was, and that is insane that he was here.
Needless to say CO had a very strange meta game. One total HH, no Sacred watchers, Frenzied Berserkers, or Archmages and tons of Aspects of Kords. And only two Maruts! | | Champion of Tavern Stripper Knight of Knights Squire of Death Giants Somethin-or-another of Big Arse Swords

Yeah, Don had a pretty solid band. He had a great placement of Rikka in our game, prventing my pyromancer from getting of his fireball. Also luck was on his side as he needed three 15+ rolls in a row to finish my Marut and got them all. Overall I am stoked that he and Rhane both qualified and hopefully both will be going to Gencon w/ me later this year. | | Champion of Tavern Stripper Knight of Knights Squire of Death Giants Somethin-or-another of Big Arse Swords

| I had a blast at my first Regional. My goal was to break 50-50, and I ended 3-2. I was also really happy with my down to the wire game vs. Sven, if only my Duergar Champ made his +14 morale save!
Michael deserved that 1st place with what he was running and how well he was doing.
But Colorado has fended off the out of state invaders. Looking forward to more.

Nice job on your first qual, Eric!
Also, Congrats to all the CO players who played, and all who qualified. We had high-caliber players come from Utah and California to contest along with us, but in the end only CO players advanced to the finals. That's quite an accomplishment, and taking away nothing from our visitors who played like champs, especially on very little sleep! Nah, when was the last time that the Warchanter saw play? I mean, Improved Countersong is a lot worse since War Drums, too.
That alone makes it a rogue band, even if CG isn't, in general. Likewise, are you saying that Dwayne's Dragonne band wasn't rogue?

| | Not to be argumentative, but more out of intellectual curiousity: what is a rogue band? Is it a band that wouldn't generally be considered competitive because of the creature composition, or is it a band that doesn't fit the contemporary archetype of a "tier 1" warband? Both; neither? Should I start another thread on this?[:p] | | Completed trades: arbados Completed 23 trades on Hordelings www.hordelings.com - http://www.hordelings.com/directory/profile.php?user_id=429 | |

This may be a good discussion for a new thread. I would say both, but leaning towards the second statement. We had a fairly lengthy discussion on 'tier 1' in the carpool vehicle, so you missed out on it.
While we did not agree on a new definition of 'tier 1', we did agree that the current definition is lacking. | | [http://www.hordelings.com/frontend/profiles/profile.php?user_id=22]

| I'll give my tournament report. I'm not going to give out much on details. I don't people will learn much except from one match. I had one match I felt I had control over my loss, one loss to dice, one to playing right and just plain coming up short.
My two wins were nothing remarkable. I was running the basic 7-activation Dual Hill Giant (with Drow Sergeant, Orc Wardrummer, and 3 Orc Warriors on Teleport Temple). I beat Soth/Beholderon Keep of the Fallen Kings and a CG band (not new, but hadn't played since tiles went away) on my map.
My first round loss was to Draggengi running 3xEye of Gruumsh, Orc Champion, Orc Wardrummer, 3x Orc Warrior on Teleport Temple. I decided to split my Hill Giants and send one after his Wardrummer. I thought I could beat him by causing him to fail morale checks. Silly rabbit. He didn't fail one. While I made it close in the end, when CE makes all of their morale saves (all after Wardrummer was dead), they are tough to beat. Lesson learned: it's better to take on the CE horde head on with the Hill Giants and smash them for their insubordination.
My day would probably best be summarized by the following:
I combined a poor warband choice with uninnovative play (not poor play, but nothing remarkable) along with a D20 that only rolls 2’s and came out of there barely clinging on to the shirt on my back. | | [http://www.hordelings.com/frontend/profiles/profile.php?user_id=22]
