Thanks to Helzapoppn for the warband tips, I think I'll definatly try out that 2x Justicator one. For now, I'm just happy if i can beat Joe and Tom [)].
I am really bad with names vs faces so i'll be doing a lot of "that guy with..." in my posts, so sorry about that [xx(]
I have to agree with that bit about the dice....with only 2 nats (on stupid rolls, like saves where i need a 2) and around 11 fumbles, me and the dice weren't on good terms. I won't disclose what become of it after the tournament. Not that it made THAT much of a difference. There were really experienced and good players. I'm glad I got a chance to play, good practice and examples and such.
Oh and thanks to everyone for the compliment [:)].
Oh, I was wondering about those digital pictures too. It'd be great to see some of the mid-concentration faces because the guy did a great job of "sneaking up". hehe.

Yes, I actually play. No I'm not a lesbian. Stop asking.

However, the opponent has been swinging at BShugg's Sword Archon with his CE boosted Helmed HOrror

The guy COULD have based BShugg's healer by landing at the back corner of the SA... he still would have had flanking with one of the Duergar on the other corner of the SA.

Instead of making low % 2nd attacks on the SA with the HH, he could have applied the damage to the WFB by attacking the healer.

The healer could NOT have absorbed those shots, so the damage would always be transferred. The healer could have moved, taking an AoO, so that it couldn't take 40 near guaranteed damage a round, but, that still an extra 20 damage against BShugg, and the healer now can't base both WFB. If the healer moves, the AoO is like 20 free damage, and the LE band is in the same position it took originally (attacking SA), but it's got an EXTRA 25 damage under it's belt.

In other words, instead of coming down to needing a lucky initiative and a few lucky hits, BShugg's SA could have been down an extra 20 points (dead), and the game won. The SA had DR, and was only taking 15 on a successful hit to transfer to the WFB.

What you probably missed earlier in the game was that the healer was basically unreachable by the helmed horror with out giving up a turn of actions with it. I had his Zakya down on HP before it had a chance to act, and that forced his other guys to have to commit to the fight where I wanted. Sure if the Horror was in a better position it could of been landing the attacks on the healer. Instead It was based by the Archon, bodyguard and a Sacred watcher before the healer moved into the position it was in. He could of moved and risked AoO's but I don't think he could of afforded 30, 45 or even 60 damage on his HH to do so.

He committed the Zakya too soon. But I distinctly remember having to bite my tongue when he moved the Horror.

He moved it from behind the Zakya 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and then 1 diagonal and forward... behind the Sword Archon to set up a flank. He chose the flank over basing the healer.

When he did that, I was already having a nearly statisticly impossible day of bad luck, I remember almost ASKING during the game, why he didn't base the healer, which was nestled into place. I actually bit my cheek.

I know he shouldn't have risked an AoO or his second attack to base the healer. There was, to the best of my memory and sore cheek, one activation window of opportunity, where he COULD have based the healer and still moved the Rakshasa up to get within 6".

You're saying that the healer was still not in position when he made that move, but, if that were true, the healer would not have been based by a bodyguard at that time, and the healer was within basing distance, because you were moving your forces up sort of slowly on the side close to you. I can see it in my mind, because I was thinking to myself, "Even if this day is complete statistical garbage for me, I can still go watch the guys play at table 1 and see if I can pick up any tricks."

So I just remember it as one of the only positives of the whole tournament (for me), that he could have based the healer, WFB, and SA at the same time, on the back corner of the SA, and instead, chose to flank you. I was screaming at that move in my head when he made it.

Even in the alternate situation, so much of the game depended on the healer, that if he'd caught her out by herself with a double move, he could have then routed her in one hit, or forced you to divert a WFB, or forced you to divert everything and focus on his horror.

Um, hi, remember me? The guy who actually played the game?

Brad didn't give me a chance to base his Healer until the Horror had already committed - by then, it was too late for me to move. I did move my Zakya up too quickly, which was my consistent mistake of the day. However, I did it in this case to prevent a Discorporating Dive on either the Zak or the Rak. I have zero doubt that Brad would have gladly sacrificed his Healer to take out either of those pieces in one shot.

Please stop harping on what I did "wrong" or could have done differently. I played the game I played, and very narrowly lost to a better player. I'm fine with that.

SYB,

Have you been able to procure the DCI xml results file? If so, please email it to me and I will import the results. Then, assuming you have the warband registration sheets, you can enter the miniatures used in each warband.

Thanks,

Pat Lynch
