| As of now Urban Druid is 2-0 with a Kord, Ballista, cleric of Lathadar band
Doubt is 1-1 lost to a SWarm first rd.
There are 20 people, the KY crew didn't make it down. General band descriptions for now: Two Maruts a dual LRD I think he said 3 monk bands Few CG FB bands some CE quads 2 Slaad bands decent amount of LE quads.

| Jesse just won, he defeated BudLeiser...
Looks like UrbanDruid is winning his match, he's beaten back almost all of his opponents pieces
20 players
Jesse is the only Marut build there!
Several CE hitters, some CG builds... Looks like favorable ground for the Monks, but apparently not....

| I would like to blame my losses on Doubts shirt and its "Mesmerizing properties" but to many monks can ruin anybodys day and they sure did mine. With three GAS bands present I faced two of them. The only pleasure I found in lossing to both Monks was that in the first game my beserkers never failed a stun check. The second monk loss was more like what you would expect, saved 2 out of 6 and both Beserkers died while stunned. Congrates to UrbanDruid. Now that you have those tickets, maybe you would be willing to exchange them for your dire poodle companion? Kudos to all attending players, the level of sportsmanship was outstanding and I am looking forward to playing all of you again real soon.

| Congrats to Urban Druid for winning. Though I already gave him some of this at the Qualifier, I told you so. [)] You almost gave me my prediction by eliminating me too! I knew your warband was a bad match-up for mine going in, so it doesn't surprise me that I lost to you. Still you played a very tight game. As did all my more victorious opponents.
I don't think I had particularly good or bad luck over the course of the day, and my losses came down to a combination of pairings, the skill of my opponents, and the slight edge of good or bad luck pushing me the games over the edge.
Anyway, I will post some more information later, but for now here is the Top 20 by DCI ranking at the end of the Swiss and the warband type they played:
1. Andy Rogers 6-0 Kord/Ballista/CoL 2. Shayne Lindeman 5-1 LE Quad (3 Duergar Champions + 1 Zakya Rakshasa) 3. Jesse Dean 4-2 Marut/Couatl/Bodyguard 4. Bud Leiser 4-2 Gith Monks 5. Ben Burnside 4-2 LE Quad 6. Nick Ferguson 4-2 Triple Gith Monk + Sword of Heironeous + Dwarf Artificer 7. John Falter 4-2 Ryld/2 Orc Champions/Eye of Gruumsh 8. David Gallway 3-3 SWarm 9. Map: Keep of Kings
Well I had never played Slaadi (or even an Elf Pyro for that matter) prior to this tourney and in retrospect it hurt my already mediocre play technique. Some general notes first ...
Everybody I played against was friendly and I don't have any cross words for anybody. Some folks there are obviously competing just to go to GenCon and I tip my hat to them for driving from various 4-6 hour locations. I am already booked and paid for at GenCon and will most likely be playing HeroClix and doing other stuff there so my attitude was a bit more loose. I figured there would be a ton of Lawful and I was right, my first 3 matches were against LX. That only got me to 1-2 however :( I didn't play well and there were two main reasons:
I suck
and
Getting too greedy with the Chaos Hammers. The Death Slaads should be engaging and fighting and trying to rend stuff. I was trying to maximize each hammer way too much. In retrospect I should have engaged with the big blocker (Blue Slaad) then after engagement maybe I would have a chance to cut loose with the DS Hammers.
My rolls were pretty even as a whole however I never critted anything that mattered, and only won map against Sam (who at that point probably would have rather played tic-tac-toe on a bar napkin). And here is the kicker, failed 8 of 9 Death Slaad morale checks @ +15. Which to be honest gives you no hope at all of ever winning anything ... You essentially have crappy 35 hp, 58 pnt flyers -- I would have been better off with dual-Ravenous Vampires.
1st Round - Chris (Lord Soth and friends) Map: Kings Road
Well I get busy getting setup and am so concerned about LoS to and from our bands I fail to notice he has 2 Cursed Spirits in his band. We were already on our third turn of the first round when I spotted it. The judge of course didn't have the DCI floor rules and refused to consult them. He suggested that Chris just remove the pieces from the board and continue play (they had already activated). I suggested he consult the DCI floor rules which have clear rules for illegal deck/band registration. He didn't. I know the penalty is match loss. However I decided to be a good sport and suggest a restart and removal of the offending critters. In the restarted match I managed to hide my Slaadi in the forest long enough to get close. Of course I still managed to fail a blast save with a DS. And get critted by Lord Soth for 50 and fail the first of many Death Slaad MC's @ +15. The Blue Slaad managed to make up for his leaders ineptitude. The 3 hammers and some good attack rolls and I eventually mopped up the undead armada.
1-0
Round 2 - Nick (Wish?) (LE Quad w/ Urthok) Map: Fixed Demongate
I get the happy side. This match I got uber-greedy for a big hammer and it never paid off. My only opening was the start of round 2 (?) if I win init Nick had left me space to double move a hyena within 4 of his Chraal / Urthok / and at least one DC. Nick won init and realized the hyena bomb plan and quickly dispatched the offending mongrel and clogged up the choke point with Chraal and dwarves. I hit a decent amount of attacks but my DS ran and that was game. I definately should have focused on the Chraal in the chokepoint and attempt to kill it without losing my Blue Slaad. I know it would have been possible because I simply could have used all my hammers on it. I wouldn't have even had to roll.
1-1
Round 3 - Bud (Monks) Map: Dragon Shrine
This is where never having played Slaads really hurt. I never engaged his YM. And got my force split up up near the middle on the cold side. Bud had the match wrapped up without having to roll as my DS got ultra comboed and failed his MC. When he actually had to roll in some cleanup combat he coughed up some 2's and 3's. I recommend he avoid rolling for the remainder of the event.
1-2
Round 4 - Tom (GFD and friends)
I lost map but Tom chose the Keep anyway. He split up his zoo taking a griffon and a bear south and 2 steel hearts, a bear and the GFD along the top (VA) side. The Swarm of Spiders got a ton of VP's as the SH's had to slowly chip away it it. Eventually the GFD went to get VP's and got munched by a Blue Slaad and the DS's munched the rest of the animals who were now OOC.
2-2
Round 5 - David (2FB + Rikka) Map: Dragon Shrine
This match-up is bad anyway. On this map even worse. Had I won map at least the VA's are within melee engagement of each other. On DS David could camp on the south area and match my SoS VP's *and* take pot shots with his archers. And me with basically a bunch of bad Orcs (Slaads with no hammers) this one was a forgone conclusion the only thing left to see was if his FB's turned up any low rolls -- they didn't. I conceded after I realized the futility of the match.
2-3
Round 6 - Sam (2Slaad, Orc Champ, MDP) Map: Keep of Spiders
We both resolved to finish this meaningless brawl up as quickly as possible. Sam had made a great metagame call and ended up seeing no Lawful his first two rounds :(
We rushed into the hallway above the VA's and began to roll dice. Sam lopped one of my DS's heads off with a crit from an Orc Champ. The DS proceeded to fail morale as was par for the course all day. This DS would later rally and regen all the way back up to 20 and seek revenge. We rolled and rolled some more. And soon Sam became obsessed with Deadly Rending something -- namely my Swarm of Spiders. Well ... he managed to roll 1's against the pile of filth and spent a solid 3 rounds and many attacks before he dispatched the offending pile. Eventually there was a giant Slaad orgy in the hallway and mine emerged victorious in the battle for the cellar.
3-3
I had fun, both on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks to the out of state folks who made both days a good time ! So is there an actual FLA qualifier ? If so I may make the trek down there -- if only to hit Islands of Adventure and the HULK roller coaster. | | Champion of Zarak - Evil Half-Orc Assassin | |

According to the Wizards DDM website there is at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center at Orlando International Airport. It's located near the NW corner of the airport on McCoy Rd between S Conway Rd (on the east) and Daetwyler Dr (on the west).

| Congrats to everyone. I thought I had made a decent metagame pick, but I drew CG first round. Faced off against what I considered my worst Lawful matchup (GAS) on Kings Road second round. And it was a cavalcade of Chaotics for the rest of the day. If it weren't for the Lord Soth band, I wouldn't have the one win I did get.
There is another lesson to be learned here. If you don't practice enough, you can't expect to win consistently. I could have probably beaten my fair share of those chaotics, but I hadn't practiced my warband very much (and definitely not much versus chaotics).
That said, there were 6 chaotics (including mine) in a field of 20. I faced 4 of those other 5 chaotics throughout the day. I'm not sure how that works out statistically speaking, but I was pretty darn impressed by my incredible "luck".
