There was talk about setting up a large western open in Vegas or Reno sometime in July a while ago and I'm wondering if it's still going to happen. Someone was just talking about how plans are in the making and there would be a thread put up soon, but are we going to have enough time to plan for it if it's not up in the next little while? I was just curious if the idea was ditched or what the deal is.

When I talked to Derry about it at the UT qualifier, he said that they were going to wait until the qualifiers were over with to get it going. with them getting closer to the end now, I am sure something will show its self.

In one of the threads about who should/shouldn't be allowed to play, Tried mentioned that hte event may be growing (or at least he mentioned an event in vegas that he was trying to organize).

I'd like to hear some more details as well. I doubt i Could make it, but Vegas has enough cheap flights that you never know!

I never thought the idea of a summer open was an easy thing to sell.

My pet project is a late january early february kind of thing, and would involve Vegas rather than Reno (pretty sure on that one.)

We have solicited prices for rooms, etc., and are trying to figure out the best way to make this affordable.

Let it be.

That's a good time of year for Vegas. It's their slow season so getting rooms and whatnot should be cheap.

I'm in Urbana, IL

Kiddoc had a good idea about how to attract some more attendee's... of course, your now planning it fairly close to Winter Fantasy (which was scheduled for Feb 15-18 last I heard).

Keep us posted!

Winter Fantasy is pretty pricey to go to for any of us here in the West. So this might actually be a good alternative.

This was actually part of the idea....
...the western alternative....
and that time of year was picked (in part) because vegas is slow and deals may be there to be had. In part because it offers a big tournament in the "off season" and in part because it offers an alternative to Winterfantasy. Although, the rich and famous could easily attend both.

You're always tops in our books, spikegif. Even if you don't have a capitalized 'S' in your nick. [)]

I'd vote for wintertime as well. The sheer number of summer honey-do projects would keep me from attending.

If it is going to be January-ish I would love to go but I am going to be moving back to Ohio in January so I would probably miss it.[:(]
