So far the venue is set. we have 3 major locations that hold DDM events. We have 3 DCI formats. I was planning on each location getting 1 Utah Open, each format at a different store. I am not sure how the Limited one will go yet, but it will be with the last set of the year. This set would be really price to do a limited one on. | |

Ahubb and I have teamed up to provide some lovely prize support for the Open. We've picked three minis that are in the process of being repainted. I'm nearly finished, but, here are some hints as to what's coming. I'll be posting pics as soon as I finish all three...
I've just about finished the two big repaints. Some of the detail was a royal pain, however, I think that both minis will collect a lot of interest once I show them off. Don't believe for a second that the third mini isn't going to fight for attention as well. | |

| First I just wanted to say that it is pretty awesome that you are contributing these specially repainted prizes for the Open. We are glad you are a part of our mini’s community even if you don’t get a chance to play very often. Now to answer your questions.
I think gore can really add to a piece if it is done well. The Ogre Ravager’s gore was not done well. But the master paint for the Cadaver Collector looked 10 x more menacing than the production one. So it all depends on how it is used.
I think fancy bases are great. I use the trophy Justicator I got at Gen Con So Cal every time I play a Justicator because I love how it looks and I like to show it off. I think the base really adds a lot to the mini.
I guess I can’t really answer question three since I’m not Spikegif but I’m pretty sure he’d be fine with it and he’d be a great person to leave them with so he can show them off at all the upcoming events and build up excitement for the Epic Open.
I’ve been trying to figure out which three you’ve picked since you dropped the hints but I’m not too sure on any of the three. So here is my not so narrowed list of guesses for each hint:

Well you have really brought my dreams to life and now I'm going to have to really try and get a competitive band together for the Epic Open. If the base would be too much trouble then I'd say don't worry about it. But everytime I think about the Cadaver Collector in a D&D world, I picture him trudging through the countless dead bodies sprawled throughout the bloody aftermath of an epic battle. So in other words, I think that would be a great idea to add other corpses on the base if it's not too much work for ya. Anyway, I'm making far too many requests considering I'm offering nothing in return. Paint on my friend and I hope you enjoy doing it. | |

I really like the artwork from the MM3 for the CC, so I'm trying to somewhat recreate that effect. The sculptor got the pose right, it just needs a body added here, and a body added there...

Of course, it would have been more fun if I had rolled more than 8 on my 3 Beholders in 3 matches. Let's see, 3 Beholders, Dual Activations, usually 3 rounds per match. That's about 50 rolls that were under 10.
All my good luck came in the last game when I need Aspect of Tiamat to roll a 1 to fail Fear and then another 1 to route off the board. She did. Funny.

| Not related to the Black Rose, but now that the Epic open is over we now need to start some planning for the Utah "Limited" Open. Some have suggested that we run a Draft event where you bring any 2 boosters that you would like to or we could run it like a prerelease event. I think that the idea of running it like the maxminis event at Gen Con would be a great thing (bring any 2 boosters) Please post your ideas in this thread Utah DDM event Calendar and Locations Thank you | |

Yeah... Funny. :p I couldn't believe how poorly I rolled in the last half of the tourney. I must have had a dozen 1's (and all in exactly the wrong places). I suppose sometimes the dice gods are on your side...
