| Only 1 of out of about 9 local Syracuse players could make it do to schedule, so that stinks. Albany crew which is about 3-5 guys also could not make it.
So...
We've only got 9 players in our Qualifiers. I'm pretty disappointed with that since I know we have more players and they would have attended. Having the Pre-Release the next week has hurt because some people said since they are coming to that then they couldn't do 2 Saturdays in a row. Oh well. Hopefully I can keep the DDM scene strong here and we can do better next year.

| I won't keep my comments to myself. It's lame as far as I'm concerned. An auto-invite to Gencon and maybe a free plane ticket for someone with a good warband (none of which anyone is playing), some skill and a reasonable amount of good rolls. There's probably a good 50 or more players who wish they had that kind of freebie. I won't go off on my old argument about the layout of qualifiers but it still stands true. If you can't even get 10 players you shouldn't even have a qualifier.

Hey Rob - take a break... I agree that only 9 players is a poor turnout, but there are several good players there and several solid warbands! Not a gimmie qualifier! I'm sure the odds are much better to at least make top 4 (when there are only 9 players) i'm sure that the fact the pre-release next weekend has alot to do with it. But it's not cool to discount the players/warbands that showed up today. Again I question you..., what you consider to be a good warband? You're always putting other players warbands down.

| Well, it becomes perfectly apparent that WotC should have checked with you before they placed the qualifiers.
And your argument that there are 50 players who wish they could get that "kind of freebie" doesn't make sense... if they wanted that kind of freebie, they could have come to the qualifier themselves instead of complaining about it online.
It's not WotC's fault, the store's fault, or the player's fault that extenuating circumstances dictated that some of us couldnt be there to make you feel better about the turnout... sorry about that.

I feel your pain - I would have loved that 1-10 chance to make top 4... after I played in 3 quals of at least 25 players or more, whew this would have been a nice change. While I agree with the message, it may be a little harsh. It's not the players fault, it's the fault of WotC for putting it where they did. That being said, I hope OP is learning from this year. Maybe that 2nd Illinois qualifier I advocated can become a reality (48 players and had the normal QC crowd gone, would have been closer to 60)
Good luck to all, some good bands and some interesting ones battling it out.

| I just stopped by the shop on my lunch break at the beginning of round 3. Everyone looked like they were having a good time and it was kind of a trip to see 4 Aspects of Lolth and no Maruts!
It was good to see so many different warbands and to see some of the same familiar faces, and new faces too!
By my count, Jim, Sirohk, Chad, and Terry are all 3-1... can one of the 2-2 players sneak in? | | Champion of Tanis Half-Elven

The only way a 2-2 would make it at this point is to defeat one of those 3-1's and hope for a better tie breaker...

| I know some people are upset that Syracuse got a Qualifier and then did not pull in a lot of players for the event. I would just like to mention though that all 4 of our Top 4 players are planning on attending Gen Con (one person is a maybe but wants to know that he qualified).
Just wanted to add that since some Qualifiers qualify people who then do not attend at all.

| I'm glad to know that most of the qualifiers are planning to attend.
I'm SO upset that I couldn't get my house in order a weekend earlier. Instead I spent the day packing more boxes, when I could have gotten up at 3:00 AM, and spent 14 hours in the car today... THAT would have been fun.
of course, I'd have showed up with another archmage band... 3 out of 10 bands with AM? Not sure how that would have gone!
