| Can this be right? According to the latest data.xls file I downloaded from the GenCon site, there are still 100 spots left for the Grinder
At this point, I don't really see a reason to register for the event if generics can be used to get in. I mean, I really don't think 100 people are going to sign up in the next 36 days.
Also, is the WotDQ League really only 200 points? That seems kinda odd. (Sorry if this is an old question.)

| | Yes, it is 200 pts. Ian would have preferred a War Drums Starter and a WotDQ booster but people have complained about having to use an old set for events so it's set for 2 WotDQ boosters at 200 pts even though that doesn't neccessarily work out real well. | | | |

| I'll be at the grinder - plan to fly in the night before and get there bright and early Thursday morning.
Not sure i'm gonna play league yet - seems like it is a good set for league (huges for prizes) but just don't think i'll have much time for it?

Has Ian answred that its only 200? I asked him in the ask WoTC thread and he hadnt replied yet. I guess Star Wars huges are for 200pt games and that might explain why they were able to be used in league, but I just haven't seen the answer to the question yet. | | Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

| Ther may be as many as five of us from Charlotte in the Grinder. None of us has registered, yet. That will change shortly, however.

| I know three people who will be registering for the Grinder. So, it looks like the number of players will go up quickly by Thursday morning.
I'll be doing some League play too--hope to play against some of you.

| I'll be in the grinder and league. Look at it this way, if the league is only 200 points, you might have a use for the Goliath Cleric of Suckiness and the Dragonborn (or whatever that thing is called). Really, this might open up a whole pile of opportunities!
While, also, sadly, eliminating a HUGE portion of the minis from being eligible to be played.

| Have a dumb Q...
how does league work? kinda like a sealed event? i have two friends coming up with me to gencon, i'll be playing in the grinder, i'm not necessarily sure they will be also. they didn't fair so well at the niles qualifier, and i don't suspect they are proficient enough to play in the grinder so i was thinkin about recommending that they play in league or a sealed event to get more exposure to the game, more experience building bands on the fly and figuring out what works well together, etc. But, i don't know how to explain league play to them....if not a post here in this thread, how bout an email?
thanks rob

League is very similar to sealed yes, but it is not worth DCI pts. Here is how league works.
1. You get a badge that says your playing league 2. You get two boosters and you register a sheet with all the minis that you pulled out of those boosters. 3. You create a band out of those boosters, the rest are eligible for future bands, as you can change your band between matches as long as the figures in the band are on the registered list. 4. You see someone with a league badge and say hey wanna play a league game. They say yes, you play. 5. After the game you go to the league desk and report the winner and the loser. There are a bunch of minis laid out on a numbered chart from 1-20. The winner rolls 2d20 and takes the best while the loser 1d20 and each of you take the mini in that spot, write it on your registration sheet and add to it the pool of available minis for your band. 6. Rinse and repeat.

| Awesome.
Allow me to add two more dumb questions:
1) How does one go about signing up? Just pre-register for an event off the GenCon website?
2) And speaking of buying events, what the heck is "will call" and how do you pick your stuff up if that's the case?
It seems like the answer to #2 should be somewhere on the GenCon website, specifically in the Registration FAQ, but I can't find it anywhere. Every place it talks about "will call" just seems to assume the reader already knows what it means... [:I] | | *This post was recorded before a live studio audience*

| | Will Call is the name of a line/booth at Gen Con. It is MUCH easier to get stuff from there then the general registration line. | | I am not gone. | |

| Like Doubt said, "Will Call" is a booth next to the main registration booths where you go to pick up stuff you've already registered for. The wait is very short, since you're just there to pick up your pre-registered item(s).

no it hasn't.
You can still preregister till july 21,they extended the prereg, they just won't mail you the badge or tickets you will have to pick them up at will call. This only applys to stuff you preregister for between june 23 and july 21 everything you ordered before june 23 will still be mailed to you.

| Well, I'm still undecided about the Grinder. I will have VERY little time to prepare for it, so that means I might end up doing league... I dunno.

| It won't be the same without you Pat. Then again, if you're not in the Grinder, Alex has a better chance, and I might get some League games in with you. So, heck ya, go for League!
