Today we ran an epic for our weekly sanctioned tourny. I went to the store and picked up my 14 boosters that I'd preordered and was very happy with the results. Out of the 2 cases I pulled Tiamat, Bahamut, Tiamat, Bahamut, and a Dracolich. I said to myself before I went that if I pulled a Tiamat I would play her. So having fulfilled the first part, I ran her. My army was:

Aspect of Tiamat
Helmed Horror x 3
Dire Rat
Kobold Miner x 3
Tomb of Queen Perigne

I realized how fragile the AOT was so I put it with the HH who can help out with flanking and also taking out other targets as need be. They actually served their purpose with her.

First round I got paired up with Ken McCutchen. Ken was running Dual Aspect of Moradins with Eberk, Dwarf Artificer, Aramil, and 3 Men at Arms. We play on my map and we juggle around for a few rounds. I manage to isolate an AOM, Eberk, and Aramil and move up and get off a breath weapon on them to take out Eberk and Aramil and damage the AOM. Next round I unload on that same AOM. He moves up his other AOM and the damaged one attacks me. I miss a few attacks on the AOM as he buffed the AC up to 30. He manages to kill AOT before she can kill an AOM. The HH then try to finish off that one as he was down to 10 hps but he would end the game at 5 hps left as they just couldn't get it done. 0-1

Second round I play William who's running a King Snure, Formorian, Mountain Troll, Kobold Sorcerer, 3 Kobold Zombies army. We play on the Tomb again. Position around for a few rounds and then he moves up the Troll to attack Tiamet and damages her. Tiamet unloads on the Troll and forces morale which he makes. I move up the HH as well to attack the Troll and wear him down further. Snure and the Fomorian attack the HH to get them down. Next round I finish off the Troll before it can activate. After that I have the HH attack the Fomorian while the Fomorian gets off an attack on AOT. Snure also sets up for a charge next round. Next round I force a morale on the Fomorian who fails it and runs. Snure comes over and I start to wear him down. He checks and also fails and runs. Next round he saves both of them and I move up and further wear down Snure. Round after that I finish off Snure and that's game. 1-1

Third round I play Keith who's running a Drizzt, Epic Guen, Dragon Totem Hero, Bluespawn Godslayer, Aramil, Eberk, Mailee, and Wand Expert. We play on my map again. I realize that the Barney is the biggest target and if I get it down the AOT will easily finish off everything else. That was the plan at least. We position for a few rounds and I then unload everything on the Bluespawn. He had cast blur on it with the Wand Expert. I quickly killed off the Expert after that, but that blur turned out to be game changing. Tiamat got off 2 full rounds of attacks on it and did no damage thanks to blur. I missed every single one of those attacks due to conceal 6. Meanwhile he was abusing the poor AOT. Finally I start to hit and finish him off. But by then Epic Guen came up and joined the fun and she was able to finish off AOT. After that Drizzt killed a HH and with his victory points it was game. Had I made some of those attacks and rolled higher than a 5 on any of those conceal rolls it would have been different. But Keith's warband was tight and he played it well. Overall 1-2.

We drafted for prizes with two WODQ boosters. Rares were Fang Dragon and War Weaver with Bluespawn Godslayer and Huge Fiendish Spider.

Champion of the Aspect of Damage
