I am doing some digging to see if anyone in MN would be interested in a regular 'Beer and Pizza' tournament. I think 4 people would be ideal so it wouldn't take all day and playing 4-way skirmishes might be a fun route to go.
To mix it up (sometimes or often depending on how the group would feel) we could have warbands that lie outside of your general 200/500 constructed (ex: racial bands, wizards and their thralls, etc).
Winner of each night chooses the pizza and 'beer' (if someone doesn't drink they'll of course be accomodated) for the next night. Maybe we could come up with a silly little trophie that's held 'til the next match. Maybe the winner doesn't have to pay...that is also debatable.
I haven't run this by my wife that's why its more of a query then 'hey lets get this going now!'

maybe after GenCon. But until then I'm focused on that.
They just don't know what's good in life...Conan, tell them what is good in life.
To rip the boosters. To count the minis spilled out before you, and to hear the indifference of the women...

I like this idea.
I remember David L. running a 'potluck minis night' about a year ago; I think real life intervened and things got too busy to keep it going, but it was definitely fun while it lasted and helped build a sense of community among Mpls DDM gamers.
Not sure how much help I'd be organizing the thing, but I'd definitely try and play.

Real life intervened for a short while. The last event was in January. I have just moved and will hopefully be starting up another Friday night game night at my house. I have the tables and chairs and there will be food just like before. So I would say in the next month or two to start it up again.
