| I'll be heading north to pick-up Konor and will probably play an Epic Tournament in Maryland along with Konor and Kyle.
No one showed up for the tournament this past Saturday but me. | | Champion of Cyclops

| | It is listed as a draft using one WotDQ and one war drums booster. Is the game 200 or 500? | | Champion of Cyclops

| | I was talking to Bobby about it on Wednesday, and she wasn't sure, but would know by Saturday... so it's definitely being thought about, but I don't know what the final decision is... or how we're drafting the WotDQ... do we keep the huge we open or does it go into the pool to draft? | | | |

| Whether the huge goes in or not would probably be a product of whether it is 200 or 500. At 500 it should be in the pool. At 200 it is debatable. Typically in 500 you will take the huge unless of course you pull an epic regular rare. My guess is that this is going to be a very hard set to use in draft. Will extra HFSpiders be available to those who pull poorly like there were in the pre-release? or will it be like league - just tough it out with your pulls.
Please someone post a report from this tournament. As I said before I will be up picking Konor up and hopefully playing in an epic tournament in Maryland but I would definitely like to know what happens. | | Champion of Cyclops

| Eric and Stacy actually took notes and stuff. They said they would post a more complete report, but I wanted to get down what I remembered while it was fresh. We had 4 people show up. Bobbie was going to do a 200 pt draft with 1 box of wardrums and 1 war of the dragon queen. Her plan was to put the WODQ boxes in a bag and have us blindly pull them out. But since there were only 4 of us, she instead just assigned us the non-nightmare box art ones out of a fresh case. We talked it out at the table and everyone was really more interested in playing 500 instead of 200. Bobbie said she could lend us some of the extra promo spiders in we needed them. So that’s what we did. I drafted lawful good early and ended up going with the lawful axis. I just put the 8 most expensive lawful guys I had together and luckily it added up to 495. Close enough for me. I had Slaughterstone Evicerator, Epic Blackguard on Nightmare, Epic Golden Protector Warforged Captain Hobgoblin Archer Azer Fighter Arcanix Guard Aasimar Fighter
First round was against Stacy. She was running a good azis band with Bahamut, Dragon Totem Hero, Large Bronze Dragon, fodder. We both choose teleport temple. She won side init and took the good side. The nightmare tried to nerf Bahamut and the bronze. Bahamut passed, but the bronze failed. Both the Large Bronze and the Dragon Totem managed to rout off the board despite Bahamut's support. After that the slaughterstone just kept beating on Bahamut until the blackguard could swoop in to finish him off. I think Bahamut hit the slaughterstone once the entire match. Bad luck for Stacy on the morale checks and the Bahamut attacks.
Second round was against Allen(? sorry I don’t remember his name). He was running an evil band with Tiamat, Greenspawn evicerator, Hill Giant Barbarian, and 2 small black dragons. I won map init but he had brought the new epic map (the one with the slopes) and I wanted to try that map out. I won side init and took the side with cover. He spread out his forces, bringing Tiamat along one side, the giant on the other and the 3 other dragons in the middle. I send the Aasimar Fighter and Hobgoblin Archer to harass his giant and send everyone else over and surrounded Tiamat. I won some good inits and the golden protector, slaughterstone and blackguard surrounded tiamat. He tried to take out the slaughterstone with a couple of breath weapons and 2 activations of full attacks, but with a high AC and elemental resistances, it stayed around. The blackguard tried to nerf tiamat but he made his save on the nose. Then the combination of slaughterstone, sneak attacking blackguard and a little help from the golden protector took tiamat down. I had only lost 3 fodder and the captain at that point so he surrendered.
We played a third round because, duh, we get to play more minis. I played Eric. He was running an evil band with the borrowed Huge Fiendish Spider, Displacer Beast Pack Lord, Hill Giant Barbarian, Ogre Skirmisher, Tiefling Captain, and fodder. We both had chosen teleport temple. He won side init and took the good side. There was quite a bit of teleporting all over the place and he got ahead on points early, but the blackguard did a great job of moving around all over the place and generally being annoying. Flight 10 + mounted melee attack + teleport means you can attack just about anyone you want. Eric was also not rolling well on morale checks. The hill giant ran off the board and the big spider failed 6 or 7 morale saves (he had to run all the way around 3/4th of the board) and still ran off the board. After that, he had to kill either the slaughterstone or the blackguard to win. With only a couple more rounds till time expired, he got the blackguard down to 30 but not quite enough.

| We ended up drafting 1x War Drums with 1x War of the Dragon Queen, building a 500 point band, and were allowed the use of a Huge Fiendish Spider if necessary… although we later realized that lawful or good players wouldn’t be able to use it, but fortunately it didn’t end up making much of a difference. I meant to record how the draft went, but forgot about it until after we were done. The keys plays were: Allen opening a HGB… Stacy passing a HGB to me (taking a Large Bronze Dragon)… Scott passing Bahamut to me (taking a Blackguard on Nightmare)… me passing Bahamut to Stacy (taking something I don’t recall, but making sure someone had a chance vs. Allen’s Tiamat… and while I was straight Chaotic Evil at this point, she was on the Good axis, with Dragon Totem Hero and the Large Bronze)
The final bands:
Scott (Tallcar24) – Blackguard on Nightmare, Slaughterstone Eviscerator, Warforged Captain, Arcanix Guard, Azer Fighter, Hobgoblin Archer, Aasimar Fighter, Golden Protector Teleport Temple
Stacy (Ihapfm02) – Aspect of Bahamut, Dragon Totem Hero, Large Bronze Dragon, Warforged Captain, Axe Soldier Teleport Temple
Allen (none) – Aspect of Tiamat, Hill Giant Barbarian, Small Black Dragon x2, Greenspawn Razorfiend Dragondown Grotto
Erik (Dragomir) – Displacer Beast Pack Lord, Huge Fiendish Spider, Hill Giant Barbarian, Tiefling Blademaster, Ogre Skirmisher, Orc Mauler, Quaggoth Slave, Azer Fighter Teleport Temple
Round 1 (vs. Allen): I lost to Tiamat… literally… I killed all of his fodder pieces before they damaged any of my figures, but failed all but 1 or 2 of my saves vs. Tiamat’s breath weapons (4 of the 5 hitting my 2 huges)… and Tiamat killed every single one of my figures.
Stacy’s Bahamut lost to Scott (I heard something about bad rolls, but was too busy getting killed to watch any of it)
Round 2 (vs. Stacy): Well, this time I lost to Bahamut(but I won initiative… TWICE!!!!!!!!!!)… once again, the end of the game was 4 or 5 of my figures on Bahamut, and Bahamut killed them all (was down to 40 at the end of the game, too)
Round 3 (vs. Scott): Once again, came down to 5 of my guys vs. his two huges… but the Spider was running, and was blocked off when he started, so ended up having to go all the way around the map, failing 5 or 6 saves along the way… Blackguard ended up at 30hp, or the spider not running off the board would’ve allowed me to win on points as time was called… or 1 more round to finish off the Blackguard with the Displacer Beast.
Final Standings: 1st) Scott (Tallcar24) 3-0 2nd) Stacy (Ihapfm02) 2-1 3rd) Allen () 2-1 4th) Erik (Dragomir) 0-3 [:(] | | | |
