| I remember Guy saying that maps could not be altered (the discussion came about when the map field of ruin was out).
I'm wondering if my plastified maps are legal for Gencon ... any idea ?
What if my maps are bearing a label with my name and forum nickname ? | | "And now, may I make a right choice, and change the evil fate of this unhappy day!" Aragorn, The Two Towers

| | By plastified do you mean laminated? If so, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be legal. It isn't like laminating the maps alters them. | |

| My sons, friends and I often used laminated maps (as did many others) at the qualifiers.
I would like to get an official statement on this before the Grinder though, in case laminated maps aren't legal.
Edit: anyone?

| | This specifically addresses people who have altered the maps either for RPG purposes or used a Sharpie to detail where walls stop and end and for highlighting other features. It came up in a few qualifiers. The idea (i think) being that you could obfuscate a feature or corner and thus change LOS from the original map. Also an opponent not familiar with the map could be fooled into thinking a wall existed. | | Champion of Zarak - Evil Half-Orc Assassin | |

Yeah I'm not sure what you mean by plastified. Is that something like petrified?? I would think that as long as there is no alterations, or it doesn't crumble, it should be fine. | | DM

| | Paido meant PLASTIFIED, as in the map coverd with tranparent plastic to kepp it nice and clean. Like an ID Card,...it is plastified but nothing changed on the appearance of the map. | | | |

| Laminated (Plasticized) maps are legal for tournament play. I see no problems with using them at Gencon.
All of Guy's maps and all of mine are laminated, and we have our initials or some other mark indicating that the map belongs to us (as does most of our group.)
If you marking is discreet and does not interfere with play, I cannot see how it would be an issue. | | Member of the Low Post Count but High Post Content Society

Thanks! I'll take this as an official response.
