I like to think, I can come up with some interesting bands, and cope with sealed event, but seeing my performance over the last two days, I have to admit my disappointment.Especially looking at Mike’s pulls and seeing how well he was able to keep himself on the top of the pack. This in no way will keep me from joining the league of gaming events offering sealed events, but I may have to re-evaluate what I come up with in a band. Then again it could be just me wanting to complain that in two day I didn’t get any titans, not one stinking Fire Giant, Horned Devil, Merrilith, etc. etc.

Saturday Pulls:

Used:

Maug

Elf Dragonkith

Arcadian Hippogriff

Red Hand War Sorcerer

Demonic Gnoll Priestess

Hammerer

Fiendish Snake

Others:

Dwarf Sniper

Karsite Fighter

Harmonium Guard

Doomguard

Phoera

Blood of Vol Cultist

Soldier of Bytopia

Hero of Valhalla

Kobold Monk

Looking back at this it may have been good to use the Doomguard over the Red Hand, but his spells did save me and his command effect helped out most of all.Over my Saturday was I am thinking 3 & 4 or 4 & 3, but somewhere around the middle 17th or 18th off the 34.I was able to successfully defeat a Fire Giant in one of my matches, so that was cool. But overall I don’t know how else to make this draw work any better.I would love to hear what someone’s thoughts on this are and if I went the right direction with what I had or was just screwed no matter what.

As Pauper stated we went to Madison, a 4 hour drive with good company makes it worth it in the end.So going into Sunday I am thinking, I have to be able to do better than yesterday right?!? (Well I thought so at first)

Used:

Thundertusk Cavalry

Mezzoloth

Elf Warmage

Gnome Trickster

Doomguard

Hero of Valhalla

Greenspawn Sneak

Others:

Air Genasi Swashbuckler

Red Hand War Sorcerer

Free League Ranger (Tanis)

Gnoll Barbarian

Blood of Vol Cultist

Mercykiller

Hammerer

Soldier of Bytopia

Kobold Miner

Today I was really fretting over the Air Genasi and the Doomguard, I thought that using the Red Hand was a great option, but thought that having the Elf Warmage is worth more than trying to put in the Red Hand, she is more potent and should be able to get more done than the Red Hand, plus I didn’t think I wanted that many spell casters, another problem was if you pull the Doomguard for Red Hand you also have to pull the Hero, and now I loose and activation.I felt with the Doomguard I could keep the Thundertusk and Mezzoloth under command and utilize her command effect more efficiently then a spell casting commander, so out with Red Hand. Now to the Air Genasi, same problem I am presented with, do I drop the Gnome and Hero for the Air Genasi or keep the two activation, I had to go with the Gnome and hope the Sphere of invisibility was worth more than a flyer with retributive strike.

Overall Sunday I did 1 & 4 worst out of my 3 other companions, not that I minded, it did give me time to look around and see how other matches faired, but still I wonder, could I have done better with what I had.My closest match was dropping a Maug and Fire Giant, it took my whole army and I lost in the end, but I thought it was pretty impressive with what I had.As for the Thundertusk, fig looks great abilities are wanting, death strike is cool, and mounted melee attack is great, but speed 6 and no bonus for charging is something I figured they would add to a boar. But MVP was of course Gnome, even though for the first 2 matches I was playing him wrong and found out the hard way, but Invisibility is self and radius not cast on someone and radius…oops. His melee sneak attack is great, especially if you are running around invisible to set up a flank.

Well not as interesting as some reports, just trying to get out some days frustrations about how I thought I did, I am sure I could have worked some matches out way better than I did, but I think I did pick out the best options with what I had. Now, I think it just comes down to paying more dues to the “Mini Gods” and get them to give me some cool stuff in a sealed.

Well next week my first Mini draft, this should hopefully produce much better results

Just reflect on each game you lost and see what the reasons were, now decide how to improve on that and take that into your future games and you will do better.  Good luck at the draft, hope you get good pulls!

I am a nerd, originality and strangeness are good. Blind conformity and stupidity are unforgiveable. All else said, DnD FTW!!
