The Thursday Knights gathered for the last sanctioned tournament before the release of Bloodwar. Let me tell you - we went out with a bang. There were a number of HEAVY HITTING warbands out there. Despite playing 3 full rounds with 6 players, we managed to finish the entire tournament in 1 hour, 40 minutes. I've never seen anything like it.

With the first load of donated food sent off, the gamers for good haven't slowed down and the the bin is already starting to fill again. I'm sure that after our "release" tournament on the 12th, we may be close to filling it again. Great work to everyone who is contributing.

Well - I don't have a whole lot to say about any of my rounds today. They were all short, and they all involved taking a boat-load of damage.

First round was against Orog and co. on Mithril mines. My game plan was to take out his Kobold Miners to increase the CCs armour class and to deny him the victory points. That part worked relatively well and I managed to get tile points myself with my wolf in the first round and a HH in the second. Once the battle ensued, I tried to put the HH in front to take the bulk of the damage while the CC could swing over them and still hit just about anything. It was going fairly well until my CC attacked a Duergar with 45 hp remaining. I was thinking, I only need 1 hit and I can take him out with a HH even if he passes morale. Of course, I miss with both attacks and get punished in return. Even with such a good AC, the Hook Horror managed to rend a HH and the CC each by the end. A decisive loss.

Second round (caves of pain) was against orcs lead by Obould on Dragonshrine. With my lack of activations, I couldn't stop him from getting the fire resistance despite having won side initiative and starting there myself. I was behind on VP for the entire game. Using Obould's CFX to good effect (and rolling really well!) a HH dropped fairly early on. After that, it wasn't long before the CC met a similar end. With only a HH left, Zak_X got tile points in the last (5th) round to win.

Third round I played against BunnyPuncher on Keep of the Fallen Kings. We've met a couple times before despite his recent sabatical from the game. I'm quite sure that we have never faced each other playing for last place before since we're currently ranked 1 and 2 in the province. Oh well - c'est la vie. With such high damage potential, my only hope is to get cover for the CC in the tight spaces on this map and swing over the HH before drop. After some unlucky rolls on his part, he had lost one of his eyes... Smile ...and one of my HH went down. I won initiative on a critical round, dropped the HGB and caused the Eye to rout. Despite possibly having a chance to rally and both of my figs within one hit of death, he conceded at this point. Certainly a close one.

Ceratinly some fireworks last night with crazy damage being dished out all over the place. Lesson learned: CE hitter bands can take anything down when they're rolling well. Congrats to Zuran for taking first place.
