| | OK, I have made up my mind to go to XP (Winter Fantasy). I've never been to an event like this before, and for those like me, we could use some advice from you more experienced guys on how to get the most out of the event.
I will be driving in from Pittsburgh, about 4 hours away, and I will want to focus on the D&D minis sealed championship. (and I need to go through the grinder).
This is the stuff I need to know:
1)What is the name of the hotel? Is it best to stay there?
2)How do I figure out where I need to be, and when, for D&D Minis?
3)What else is cool to do there, and how do I find it all?
4) How do I get the most freebies?
5) Where is good to eat? (I know not to eat the pizza).
6) Any other tips for preparation, right place at the right time, must-sees, enjoying it as much as possible, etc?
Thanks all! See you there! | | Now go forth and destroy your enemies... - The Lance (Champion of Minsc and/or Boo) | |

| Can't speak for this year's Winter Fantasy/DDXP, but at least year's event, the DDM & SWM events were held in a relatively-open area right down from all the RPG tables, so if you find the con, you'll find the DDM stuff.
Of course, the con was held in a very large basement last year...

| Hotel information is at www.wizards.com/rpga. I personally always stay at the hotel, and I think it's a better option. You're by the Pentagon, so there is not much scenic right around where the hotel is, but you can easily drive to better locations for tourism. If you do so, map both to the locatio you want to go, and back. If you assume you can just reverse the directions you will get lost. The streets are not completely intuitive. As for food, there are several places in walking distance, from Macdonalds to a dinner across the street that I enjoyed.
Now for the con. It's not as big as you think as it is just RPG and minis, so when you register you won't have to go far to get to the games and it should be clearly marked. The biggest suggestion I can give is be on time. On the RPG end, they are holding us to sict starts and end, so they won't wait for you if you're not there on time. Lastly, if you are going to be there for all 4 days, take some time away from the con. You'll need the break.
Oh, and the renevations of the hotel are done, so it won't look like a basement this year. | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow
