Despite the (lack of) snow, we had 9 players.  For all you guys who bailed out due to snow--we really didn't have much.  There was a little on the way up, and a little on the way home, but nothing serious.  Still, I'd rather my friends be safe.  Lucky me, I got to play the person with the Bye each time, so I got in three games (and, from that point of view, I went 2-1).

We went a little crazy and only played 3 rounds of Swiss.

Here are the standings after the Swiss rounds.

1. Elliot (3-0)
2. Alex (2-1, loss to Elliot)
3. Dan (2-1, loss to Elliot)
4. Rich (2-1, loss to Alex)
5. Brad (2-1, loss to Rich)
6. Matt (1-2, losses to Elliot and Dan)
7. Zachary (1-2, losses to Alex and Brad)
8. Sean (1-2, losses to Dan and Rich)
9. Tony (1-2, losses to Sean and Brad)

The store offered excellent prizes (4, 3, 2, 1 boosters to 1, 2, 3, 4 place) given the low turn-out (I'm tellin' ya, if you live in the area, you have to check this place out) and the low cost: $12.  Everyone got promos as well, thanks to a local player with tons of extras from running other tournaments (ahem, Brad).

So, we agreed to a Swiss playoff, to play for 3rd.  The players ended up agreeing to a dice off though, because it had been a long day.

Playoff, round 1
Elliot beats Rich
Alex beats Dan

Playoff, round 2
Alex beats Elliot in the dice roll
Dan beats Rich in the dice roll

Alex ended up pulling a Fire Giant, Pit Fiend and Marilith in his 3 boosters, and a Succubus in the 4th booster that he won in the dice off against Elliot.  Dan got a Storm and Kolyarut.  I don't recall what Elliot or Rich got.  Hopefully they'll post.

Here are the bands

Elliot
Young Master, Githzerai Monk x4, Aramil, Human Commoner, Jozan

Alex
Firegiant Forgepriest, Urthok, Duergar Champ x2, Azer Raider, Timber Wolf, Skirmisher x2

Dan
Lord Soth, Duergar Champ, DH of Deneith, Dark Moon Monk, Greenspawn x2, Kobold Miner, Timber Wolf

Rich
Cleric of Syreth, DH of Deneith x2, Sacred Watcher x2, Thundertusk, Timberwolf

Brad
Urthok, Bluespawn x4, Dire Rat, Skirmisher x2

Matt
Dwarf Caver, Slaughterstone x2, Maug x2, Dwarf Artificer

Zachary
Tordek, Kolyarut, War Weaver, Village Priest, Arcanix Guard x3, Axe Soldier

Sean
HGB x2, Tiefling Captain, Small Black Dragon, Orc Warrior x2, Gnoll x2

Tony
Vlaakith, Gith Dragon Knight, Cursed Spirit, Timber Wolf, Hyena, Warrior Skeleton

Hopefully, some of you guys can post info about your games.  I played Matt, Zachary and Tony (in that order) when they had their bye round.

Against Matt, I played: Marut, Couatl, Cleric of Order, Mepling Pyromancer, Aramil, Timber Wolf, Hill Dwarf
Against Zachary and Tony, I played: Storm, Mounted Paladin, Nebin, Aramil, Timber Wolf x2, Xeph x2

Tony absolutely killed me.  The Paladin failed his save against disintegrate and fireball, and kept rolling 1s on his attacks.  Zachary had the worst luck I'd seen in a long, long time, Tordek took something like 12 swings on the Paladin and connected maybe twice (Conceal 6 felt more like Conceal 19).  And poor Matt's Dwarf Caver couldn't hide from a flying Marut.

I played a silly fun band and had a silly fun result. In the first game I got Rich to spread out his figures on turns 2 and 3, then pounced on his dwarven thundertusker with my entire band hoping to eliminate it while it was alone. 4 turns later, the tusker had almost solo'ed my entire band killing/routing 3 bluespawns and urthok before the last one finally finished him off. It then routed to a critical from his commander. I've never seen 44 pts face off against 192 pts before but it sure was a massacre. Rich played a great game and deserved the win. Unfortunatly that loss eliminated me as I played 2 other players who got early byes.

Elliot traded his packs to me for some dreamblade. They had:
Horned Devil
Kolyrut
Dwarven Thunder Tusker

I LOVE opening Bloodwars packs, every rare rocks!

Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested!

Some of the other players have posted their experiences on the WotC boards.
