| Just dropped from the qualifer with my spoiler band: Ultra Nappy Headed B'Liches (Beholder Lich x2, Ultroloth, Sneak, Goblin Skirmisher)
I came REALLY close to killing an UltraForge band and a Storm, Virtuous Charger, Nomad Charger x2 band.
I saw a LOT of black dragons out there and a fair amount of Black Dragon Hate.
Team So Cal had a good showing. 7 or 8 guys.  Sadly, they teamed up all the Utah guys with Utah guys, so we had to play the same chumps we always play (love you guys!), and makes it hard to dominate the top 4.
Hard to dominate the good players in So Cal anyway. Good to see you guys.

| Thanks for the info. An interesting and not unexpected array of warbands.Â
Do we want to move this to Tournaments?Â

| Man - if I...
a) had a clue b) didn't have so much work on my plate
and
c) was ready
I should've gone to this qual. Just for fun, at least. I'm not THAT far away in Charlotte.

| Dude named Graydon. He's a great player. I played him in So Cal at Gen Con and he was cool and calm and had great startegy. I think I won on a flukey point win when time ran out.
He came with Super, Ultra, Mega Black Dragon Hate. I will UN-officially call his warband the Imus, THAT is how much black hate there was in this warband.
3 Virtuous Chargers and storm.  Couple Xeph I haven't check the stats, but apparently a single shot will force a moral and double shot kills.  With their speed and being able to fly (with a bat, I guess) two can hit in the first round and knock out the LBD early.
I saw two bands with 4 Black Dragons and tiefling and a orc warrior or two.
A few PRC. One with Storm, Cormean war mage, Ogre Barbarian, Braalni Eladrin, Greycloak? i want say? Anyway, he tooled me easily after winning map init and made me play Beholders on the Drow Outpost. He was from Idaho.
His buddy ran 2 Maug, 2 Helmed Horror and the chick with the Sai-s. Can't remember the piece. He did well.
Fenris ran 4 black dragons as did Smyrin.
Kevin, the punk who ALWAYS beats me and is still in his teens ran.... damn. can't remember. I know he did well. I think he went undefeated. 4 shadowdancer, storm, wild elf warsinger, bat, greycloak, wolf
From Utah, we had Ultraforge from Caustic Mouse, Devin Tessers (can't remember his online name, Drakkengi or something) ran 3 blacks and Werewolf Lord.
Nate (from utah) Arcane Balista, Couatl. War weaver, Cleric of order, 2 sacred watchers
Isaiah (from Utah) Arcane Balista, Couatl, Heironeious, War Wizard Comeran.
Keith had all blacks, with Ryld  Â
Paul used Ulta Forge.
2 Solar, Shield Gaurdian, Dragonmark Heir bands: man at arms, etc. Warbands.
Two really AWEOME bands with two liches. Really funny band name. Totally inappropirate, can't remember the details.
Triple Ultroloth band from Tried's son.Â
Tried used 2 Nomad Charger, 1 Virtuous Charger, Bat, Storm and flew around wreaking havoc.

| I hope my comments about Don Imus are not misleading. I never liked the guy and I'm glad he got his just reward. My naming the band they way I did was my way of giving him a well-deserved send off. More of a middle finger than a tip of the hat.

| Well, I'll give my quick little report here.
I was playing a CG Storm band, which I dubbed "Lines, AWAY!!" but renamed "It's raining PoRC" Storm Silverhand Bralani Eladrin Cormyrean War Wizard Shadowdancer Half-Ogre Barbarian Aramil, Adventurer Wild Elf Warsinger Jozan, Cleric of Pelor Map: Drow Outpost
first round: Ben (I believe this may have been mook) Army: double B-liches
We
played on my map, and the liches weren't very effective. It took him
until the second round until he got a decent LOS on any of my pieces,
and by then, I'd been able to get in there and set up the Triangle of
fearlessness. This one was pretty quick, and Ben didn't seem that into
it. I believe he dropped after round 3 Win 1-0
Second Round: Ethan Army: Modified GAS (triple Monk, Eberk, Artificer)
This
one was played on his map, Mithral Mines. first round had him bunching
his 3 monks and Young Master in one foursquare space. Lines, do your
worst, and oh, they did. Having Storm nearby to counter the YM was
another bonus. I had plenty of Autodamage to handle this army. It was
over pretty quick. Win 2-0
Third Round: Ben (with the sweet repaints) Army: Solardian
We
played on his map, which was Kings Road. He managed to get the slaying
arrow shot on Strom due to a placement error on my part. Fortunately,
she saved, and it became a battle. We ended up congregating near the
shared VA, but he was out in the open, and I was in the forest. That
made a huge difference on attacks, as I made a lot more hits than him.
The fact that I had more beef hitting also made a big difference. It
was close for a bit, but in the end, I had too much damage on him.
Win 3-0
Well, I'm feeling pretty good about now, but I haven't had to face Triple black or Charger's yet, so we'll see how I end up.

| I'm breaking this up to avoid wall of text syndrome...
Round 4 (it gets tougher): Graydon Army: Triple Valorous chargers
I
was playing Graydon, one of the other 2 Undefeateds. I made my first
major play mistake here, and it cost me my half-ogre barbarian. If that
doesn't happen, I'm pretty sure this game goes the other way, or is a
lot closer, at least. I was always playing catchup, and I was always
just a bit behind. It was called on time (much to my chagrin, I wish I
would have asked him to play a little faster) and he had 2 chargers
within one hit of death. both were rallied by strom through fortunate
circumstances. Ah well, Que sera sera
Round 5: Devin Army: Triple Blacks (WWL version)
This
was just a blur of lines. he got the CWW before she could be much
effect, and that really made a difference. I made a few saves, but
failed more than the statistical average. Which is bad enough, but
against a band that only needs average to dominate, it was really bad.
. Suck. I tried to fight, but it was too much to overcome. Having never
played against triple blacks, it was certainly a shock. I did get the
Confusion off, to no effect, and almost killed the commander, but too
little too late.
Round 6: Keith Army: Triple Black (Ryld version)
If
I thought my luck was bad the previous round, this one was worse. No
one made a save. Strom took the full 50 from two, as did everyone else.
When storm died a few rounds later, I conceded. there was nothing I
could do. a 3 and a 1 on Storms saves made it unwinnable. Stupid Black
Dragons...
So, 3-3, hopefully I made a few DCI points. I had a
good tme, and look forward to playing there again next year. Once
again, kudo's to SpikeGif for an excellently run tournament.
