| This is just a brief report, I'll write a better (larger) one later. Top 4: 1.) Roger "Janos M." Witte {Ulmo Lightbringer}, 5x {Sacred Watcher}, {Cleric of Order} + {Bat Familiar}, {Man at Arms}; King's Road 2.) Tino "Yerf" Frey {Ryld Argith}, 2x {Large Black Dragon}, {Thrall of Blackrazor}, {Hunting Hyena}, 3x {Orc Warrior}; Hellspike Prison 3.) Elard ? {Storm Silverhand}, {Elf Warmage} + {Bat Familiar}, {Cormyrean Warwizard}, {Virtous Charger}, 2x {Arcanix Guard}, {Caravan Guard}, {Man at Arms}; Mithrall Mines 4.) Stefan Diekmeyer {Large Silver Dragon}, {Dragonmarked Heir of Deneith}, {Cleric of Order}, {Warforged Scout}, {Mialee, Elf Wizard}, 2x {Man at Arms}; Teleport Temple The Half-Finals were: Roger defends Elard Tino defends Stefan with Roger winning over Tino in the finals. We had 27 player, one coming from the UK (Alepulp). We played 4 rounds of swiss with cut to top 8. After 4 rounds saw only Alepulp and me undefeated. Peter then dropped to make sure a german would win it (allthough I think he didn't want to loose his DCI-Points on a loss) Peter "Alepulp" Scott played: {Arcane Ballista}, {Shield Guardian}, {Couatl}, {Cleric of Order}, {Cormyrean Warwizard}, {Mialee, Elf Wizard}, 2x {Timber Wolf}; Dragondown Grotto | | My Haves and wants: http://www.maxminis.com/hw_list.asp?user=Janos_M.

| Here is a small view from my side of the tracks...
I went 2-2 and finished 19th. Played the Ultroloth/ DHoD/ 3 DCs/ T.Wolf. I won one map initiative in the whole tournament and my Duergars have rolled 7 (seven!) Natural 1-s in three games. So it may be fair to assume that the overall luck was never on my side. I never got the Heigtened Ray of Exaustion on anything (all targetted creatures were save 6 to 8 ). But, I am still glad how the warband fared.
Round 1 was vs a S.Silverhand/ 2 Valenars/ DHoD/ CWW/ T.Wolf/ Xeph on Kings Road. This was my most unlucky match of the day. 4 Natural 1-s on the Duergars and all but one initiative roll lost. The opponent played fairly good and placed his pieces so that all benefited from Storm's CFX. My Speed 6 pieces couldn't threaten her in any way and I had no patience for camping in the joint VA. The match was over in round 7 when I had only my Ultroloth standing and he lost his Xeph, DHoD and one Valenar. I was 0 - 1.
I was really struggling with the flu and fever by then and had taken painkillers which kicked in by the next match.
Round 2 was vs. a good friend of mine with whom I have practiced a lot for the tournament. That was a strange twist of fate. He played Vlaakith/ VampireWolf/ Blackrazor/ 3 LolthSting/ TwigBlight on Dungeon of Blood. I wasn't really patient enough for the match and moved my Duergars in after one of them suffered an (albeit saved) disintegrate from Vlaakith. After some lost ini-s and two Natural 1-s from the Duergars it was in round 7 that the Thrall felled my last Duergar (gaining another 20 hitpoints, which I overlooked). Ultroloth managed to scorch him to death in the next round, but it was too late. He won on points in round 9 with my Ultroloth and his Vlaakith/ 2 LolthSting left standing. It was well played by my opponent and the only "mistake" I made is to lose patience in round 3 and go into "attack mode" first. I was 0 - 2.
The round 3 brought a new (relatively inexperienced) player to the table. He played Warforged Captain/ Maug/ Elemental Wall/ Village Priest/ 2 Arcanix/ Hammerer/ AnvilofThunder on Fields of Ruin. It was a very clean game where I lost my DHoD and the T.Wolf and he lost all his figurines by the round 6. I was 1 - 2.
The last round brought a DragonTotemHero/ 2 LBDs/ Valenar/ GreenspawnSneak/ T.Wolf/ 2 Xephs on some map I don't remember because I won map ini. We played it out on Kings Road. The opponent had some bad luck and missed quite a few attacks with his Dragons (either conceal or just a plain miss). But, it is fair to say that it wasn't hard to do because almost all his pieces were enfeebled and not placed well and mine were in forest. One dragon routed, but rallied on the next turn and was clobbered to death by my DHoD and one Duergar. The match was quite unexciting to play because I placed my pieces good and the opponent had below average luck (I rolled my last Natural 1 of the tournament with the Duergar, though...). I won in round 9 with my T.Wolf and one Duergar dead and his one remaining dragon with 20 HPs left and a T.Wolf somewhere on the map. The rest of his pieces was gone by then. I was 2 -2 then and the tournament was over for me. I got a Hezrou and a few nifty uncommons for my efforts.
Thanks for reading, Valter.

| Congratulations on the win Roger. It's never easy with such a large field. Your warband is a little different from what most people would expect, but I can definitely see its strengths. I actually faced the same warband in the Washington qualifier.
Alepulp, I saw that you were undefeated in the Swiss rounds, so you are really solidifying your position as one of Europe's top players. Nice of you to drop for the rest of the field.
Valter, thanks for the detailed report. It's nice to see a tournament through the eyes of one player from start to finish. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades.

| I went to Berlin with my wife Nina and a good mate of mine (Christian Eicke). I usually need the minis for roleplaying-gaming purpose only but played a couple DDM games with Christian as well. Since my father lives in Berlin, we considered this a great way to combine seeing him and participating in the first ever german DDM championship.
We selected our warbands at the very last moment (the evening before leaving for Berlin) and never played them before. I wanted to play Drizzt+Rask+Guenhywvar+Wild Elf Warsinger+Filler but feared my precious Drizzt mini could take damage. I will have to wait untill November to have another Drizzt and will take him to some tournament then.
Anyway, I sticked with Chaotic Good and a Storm Silverhand band. My overall strategy was to hope for map initiative (Dragondown Grotto) where I could win with my ranged band (Storm, Asura, Graycloak, Aramil). In case I'd be forced in to melee I was hoping for Aramil to work his ray of enfeeblement.
First round in my first ever tourney and I played with... nobody. Had to wait another hour. Still no wasted time since it was fun to look at all the matchups for a few minutes everywhere. I was especially impressed with the look of the Large Silver Dragon (never seen before) and with Valter's re-painted band. Ultroloth, DCs and Heir of Deneith looked great! The most of the time I was watching my wifes taking on a pair of Large Blacks with her Dwarves. She even won that game and had more fun than expected. After a few hours she got bored and opted for shopping during the break, but that's fine. I was glad she gave DDM a shot and even happier she could win a game. Too bad, she didn't face Roger's Watcher-Band. Tordek would have had a chance to shine. She was playing dwarves since she wanted something sturdy withouth to many special abilities.
My mate just wasted his Fire Giant Forgepriest by not basing opponents. His titan rarely took damage, but he lost on points every single time and finished last.
After waiting the first hour I finally had my first game with Kay, who played an invisible band featuring two Valenar Nomad Chargers. Kay's strategy was to keep everybody invisible and to use with his VNCs only. He had one in reach of my Virtuous Charger and I rolled lucky, passing both conceal checks. The VNC faild morale and flew off the board. Nice. I was ahead on points and could play defensively. If I remember correctly I used my bat to line the second charger, who was invisible at the central victory area (Dragondown) and hit him with a lightning bold after that. I simply couldn't miss a conceal check, and Kay's die betrayed him. My first game, my first win!
Second game and once again Dragondown. This time I faced Peter and his Arcance Ballista. His Couatl's legion's undeniable gravity was too much for me. Asura, VC and Storm all lost (the potential to) fly/flight. The hard and long way right through the grotto just wasn't working. Too many ballista-bolts and snake swiftnesses. 1-1.
In the final game of the swiss round I played with Claas. I won map initiative and could play on Dragondown again. His map (Drow Outpost) was completely unknown to me (is there any way I could get that map?), so this might have been the decisive roll right there. I was hoping to enfeeble his Marilith, but Aramil fell victim to an acid line early. I finished his Large Black Dragon thanks to winning an important initiative (I won the first 5, I think), sent his Thrall down the slope thanks to the War Wizard's spellcasting and attacked the Marilith from a distance. Storm, Asura and the VC all had flight, and I kept a save distance between the mighty demon and my band. Claas surprised me by sliding down the slope and attacking in the turn. The map says "movement ends", and I should have been aware of this. Never mind, I accepted the AAOs and took off again to attack from a distance. There was not much Claas could do about it. His map, and it would have been a different story.
I finished 4th after swiss. Wow. Never expected to be there. Glad I didn't take Drizzt after all...
I played Tino (Yerf) in the quarterfinals. He won map, and we played on Hellspike. I don't know if I could have defeated his band on Dragondown since Tino seemed to be a very experienced player. Maybe I'd have done better than eliminating one dragon and a couple of Orcs, though.
All in all a great tournament. The shop provided drinks and snacks for free which added to the friendly atmosphere with all those nice people around.
I probably won't be there again in 2008 since I'll move to Sydney in June. However, I'll definitely participate in the Aussie championships. DDM really caught me, and since I won't write any adventures for my roleplaying group as often as now, I'll keep playing DDM. Hope there will be tourney's in Sydney.
Thanks to everybody for a great day and congratulations to Roger. By the way: Do you know someone named Dennis Gater? You could have been his twin brother, and since he is from England and Roger isn't a typical german name.... | | Champion of Regis

| My tournament Report - Brief:
Round 1: Lars Niggemeyer Storm Silverhand 2 Virtous Charger Corrmyrian War Wizard Graycloak Ranger + Twolf Xeph Mialee Bat Elf Warrior Dragon Shrine
Very nice warband. He won init and progressed slowly to an aggressive, but defensive stance. I gathered weak pieces into a defensive position so that the VC's couldn't just move in. Round 2 he won init and gave it to me. I noted that I had a tight LoS to a VC that was 7 sqrs from Storm and decided to risk an MC attempt - moved the Ballista to shoot location and then moved Couatl into the best space on the map against VCs - next to the statue of Tiamat. Let off a bolt on the VC with cold and the VC ran (flew) off. Lars then did a great job of defending his pieces from more such attacks. However, I'd managed to reduce activations and succeeded in routing Storm - with the second VC and the CWW shortly after. It was a tough match and with the exception of leaving the first VC out of CFX range and in a tight LoS, he made no mistakes.
Claas-Eike Schulz 3 Orc Warrior Marilith Large Black dragon Hyena Tiefling Blademaster Thrall of Blackrazor
I won map init and that really made life hell for Claas. Round 2 saw us engage and he gradually moved the main threats towards my nest, coming in different directions. Laid some damage on the Marilith and an Electicity Sphere on an OW and the LBD (who filed DC). Next round and the Marilith was routing. Soon the LBD was dead and the thrall succumbed to the autodamage combination of the CWW and the SG. The Marilith rolled a 1 on her morale! Really, the map made this very difficult for him.
Michael Domröse Storm Silverhand Virtous Charger Asura Cormyrean War Wizard Graycloak Ranger + Timber Wolf Aramil Bat
No need to roll for map - we share the same one. The real trick here was removing the flight, after the spell had been cast. LUG is brutal v the low saving throws of CG (and CE, before any drummer gets going) Michael did very well to get a Silver line in that reduced the COO to an MC (which he passed - just). I'd counted wrong and thought he'd be 13 from any location he decided to line up. Followed by a lightning bolt from the CWW (Couatl CFX coming to its own), only 5 dmg for the DG and Ballista. And didn't reach the COO. Storm then routed after the Ballista let rip. The VC, Asura and CWW shortly followed.
Gert Titze Werwolf Lord 2 Large Black dragon Thrall of Blackrazor Lolth sting 2 Gnolls Orc warrior
I win map again - making this a much easier matchup. I cast LUG again at the beginning and one of the dragons fails. He still does a great job of getting the thrall and one of the LBD's into spaces without LoS for my AB. I spent a bunch of time considering moving the Ballista and forcing a morale on one of the LDBs and suddenly realise that there is a very tight LoS to the WWL. Need to get rid of an OW first - so place the Electricity sphere on it. The Snakes' off both cold and fire bolts onto the WWL for 55 dmg. He fails MC. Next round he tightens the grip somewhat, moving the flying LBD to within 10 for a serious attack, and the thrall. In the meanwhile the other LDB is wriggling it's way up the ramp. I win init - move Mialee to block the way up the ramp (and out of the way for a hasted Thrall), then cast LUG again and the second dragon fails its save. He moves in (the only thing he can really do), the wolves are winning the fodder war. As he closes in, Thrall gets hit for 15, then down to 20 HPs left - CWW finishes off. LBD is left on 5 HP and the other one has still to pass Mialee. A combination of the Ballista, sonic and the CWW clear the deck in about round 5. Gert played expertly - the map (combined with LUG) simply didn't allow him access to my warband until I was ready.
4-0.
I dropped so that the top 8 were Germans. Enjoyed watching the final matches and seeing how the tactics were being used. It would have been interesting to have matched up v the Large Silver. | | One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :( My Collection My DDM Website And My Trade Refs Be a part of the UK DDM Forum

| German Nationals report
The Warband:
My choice for this warband was determined by two major factors: Local metagame Estimated warbands of special players (Martin “Adkainen”, Peter “Alepulp”, Tino “Yerf”, Benjamin “Avarice”, Lars, Moritz)
The local metagame tended to Storm Porc and Large Blacks with a few rogues and not much Ultroforges. I built 3 warbands to counter this estimated meta. In the next step I spoke to most of the above mentioned and tried to get some feedback. But you don’t get clear answers, like: “I’ll play XYZ”. So I’ll had to guess there warbands basing on there choices in earlier tourneys. With that in mind I chose my warband out of two possibilities. To do that I made a ranking: 1.) The Warband had to protect itself against cones/Lines and low to normal attack bonus, read as +8 to +14 (Evade damage and incorporeal are great for that). 2.) It had to be mobile so map initiative don’t bother it much. 3.) The amount of living figures that could easily get smacked should be as less as possible. 4.) Lot’s of small attacks is better then one heavy hit (Dancers!) 5.) 9 activations are a must.
I proved both warbands, Marut + Watcher as well as Gith’s + Couatl against this ranking. The Gith’s got easily hit by charging Dancers and there stuns were DRed. The Marut was to slow and had problems against Breath Weapons. I looked at the warbands again and included a Bat Familiar to go up on activations to 9. Then I saw the evade damage and thought to myself that it would be fine to have it on a Beater… One and one adds to another and I grabbed old Ulmo to finish my warband. The Cleric of Order was an auto include to buff him much more.
The Tourney:
Our group of three players arrived early in Berlin and we had some spare time before the tourney began. We discussed last strategies and get back to the shop. The judge told me that we will only play 4 rounds of swiss, so I scribed myself in as fast as possible (every one missing the top X cut with similar tiebreaker to the last one who made it, know why…).
In the first round I had to play against Martin Hoffman. He played: Storm, VC, Rikka, Aasimar, Spellscale Sorceror, WEW and Xephs on Broken Demongate I think. He lost map initiative and we played on King’s Road. He won the first ini and let me go first. My Watcher spread and one went right over to the shared victory area. Due to my 9 activations I had Ulmo as my last figure. His Bat was in a place where I could easily shoot at it. I advanced Ulmo some squares and took the shot, rolling a one… What a begin. Next round he won initiative again and passed it to me. Ulmo shot at the Bat and hit with a 3. He moved his second Xeph to his VAs and I attacked them with my watcher, but I failed. We shared our activations and I advanced the Cleric of Order into a forest square buffing him with MR. I placed it so that every figure attacking it would be out of the forest. He placed his VC next to the cleric and attacked it, but only the second attack hits and I made morale. With the next initiative I could easily gang up on it with Ulmo and 3 Watcher. Enough to make sure it never get’s away. But I lost initiative again and he retreated after killing the Cleric. Storm shot the Man at Arms, while two watchers eliminated the WEW. Ulmo took a shot at Storm and advanced further. We both got VP. He brought Rikka and without the Cleric I won my first initiative. I swarmed Storm and the Spellscale, both not in a forest square with 4 of my watchers attacking the Spellscale. He attacked the Watchers but missed most of them (not incorporeal just there AC 25). My last Watcher killed the spellscale and Ulmo moved to the VA, which I left and killed the Xeph. I was in front on points: 89:53 (from there on I counted my lead in watchers, like I’m ahead two Watcher). He won the next intiative and his VC and Aasimar attacked a Watcher killing it. My Watchers attacked Storm. 4 hits later he used Rikka’s heal and herselfs to bring her up to 80 again. I moved Ulmo next to Rikka and Stom and tried to stun Rikka. She saved and he won next initiative. He attacked Ulmo with Storm and Rikka hitting him for 20 damage. Then Ulmo dropped 60 on Storm while a Watcher brings her down to 10. He then killed the Watcher flanking Storm. I won next initiative and killed Storm with 2x attacks of Ulmo and used the last as Stun on (flanked) Rikka she made the save again… Last round was announced but my opponent coulnd’t kill Ulmo. 1:0
The Second round was against Elard Hübner playing Storm, VC, CWW, Elf Warmage+Bat, 2x Arcane Guard, Caravan Guard, Man at Arms on Mithral Mines. He won map initiative while I won side ini. I chose the side that has 3 VA to make sure that he has to use the VC to get tile points. I lost initiative, buffed Ulmo and spread my watchers to deny his area effects. Ulmo moved last and took a shot at the Caravan Guard. After I rolled the die I saw it was plain stupid, because I could have taken the Man at Arms instead… He activated his Bat last and made sure that it stayed in the back. I lost initiative again and he moved the Man at Arms away. I made some changes in placement but didn’t engaged further. He moved his Guards and I activated my Watchers. As one of his last activations he tried to kill a watcher with his VC but failed to hit. Storm cast the SF on two watchers and made one incorporeal. The Watcher next to the VC flew away right into the VA. He placed his Bat in 8 Squares to the undamaged Watcher. I won Initiative and my VA-Watcher flew away to attack the Man@Arms, killing it. The undamaged watcher charged the CWW hit and was now in base with Storm too. His Arcane Guards missed my Watchers and 2 Watcher attacked the CWW hitting once. Storm and the CWW attacked and reduced one watchers life to 15. The damaged Watcher flew next to the CWW but missed (with flanking). My Cleric moved to stop his VC getting in the VA. He moved the VC next to the Cleric outside of the VA and attacked missing both. His Bat touched an undamaged Watcher and made incorporeal killing it. My Bat got me VP and Ulmo got in position for next round (enough spaces away, so the Warmage couldn’t get him). The Warmage double moved next to the fight in contact with two Watchers. I won Initiative and hit the Warmage. One shocking grasp and two Storm attacks later, two Watcher got killed. My remaining Watcher killed the Warmage. My Bat got killed by the VC, but the Man at Arms took it’s place. Ulmo attacked the CWW with stun but failed. At this point the score was tied 78:78. I lost next initiative and he killed another Watcher with Storm. I attacked with Ulmo (criting one attack) and my last watcher, dropping Storm to 5. He killed my Man at Arms and the CWW killed the last Watcher. Last round was announced and I was behind on points. To my surprise I won the next initiative. I killed Storm and moved away. He attacked Ulmo with his VC and CWW but missed giving me the 135:133 win. 2:0
Berhard Schmidt was my opponent in the next round. He played Greenfang Druid, 2x Dancer, 2x VC, WEW and T-Wolf. He won map ini and took the Drow Enclave (the one with the summoning thing in the middle). I got side initiative and chose the one with the rooms (where you can’t see the squares easily). My Man at Arms and Watchers blocked the doors so that no VC could get in. He used a Dancer and SJed next to my Man at Arms killing it and “opened” one of the doors. With my last activation I moved Ulmo to the dancer and attacked with Stun I hit for 5, but he rolled away. I won next initiative and flanked the Dancer. Ulmo made all attacks and the dancer was gone. He moved his Wolf and his WEW closer. One Watcher attacked the Wolf and it ran away, while another one based the Greenfang Druid and the WEW. The VC’s attacked the remaining Watcher and killed it. In the next round we traded attacks. He killed another Watcher with his VC’s while I forced morale on the WEW (which he passed). Ulmo shot at one VC and andvanced further followed by the Cleric. I got tile while he wasn’t. The next round was very bad for me. He won ini killed a third Watcher (so what’s that incorporeal for…) and due to his activation advantage I had to move Ulmo last. I made a pocket for my Cleric so the remaining Dancer could’t get to him without being next to Ulmo. I killed the WEW so the Dancer would deal only 10 damage. He SJed anyway and hit the Cleric. I won next initiative and moved the cleric away one square. He hit on the aoo and I made morale. Instead of SJ he took the aoo from Ulmo. I didn’t want to stun and hit for 5 but before I announced the damage he said that he want to DR it. I guess he still thought Ulmo would do 20 like to his last Dancer. He killed my Cleric and I flanked his Dancer with a Watcher. Ulmo attacked it 3 times and killed it. The last Watcher attacked the VC like every round and brought it to morale. He failed and routed next to his Greenfang. Next round my last 2 Dancers and Ulmo went after the damaged VC. He passed morale and the other VC engaged a Watcher. I won next initiative getting in flank to the VC and dropped some more damage. In return he killed one Watcher and hurt the other badly. I lost next initiative and he killed the last dancer. Ulmo killed the VC and moved to the Greenfang. He casts his fire damage on him and the round ended. We began the last round but he wasn’t able to force morale on Ulmo and with the TP I was ahead by 10. 3:0
Unbeaten at this moment I was already qualified for the top 8, so I didn’t mind loosing the last game of swiss. My opponent was Andreas Schulz, who came in 2nd at a local tourney, which I ended 5th. He played Solar, Shield Guardian, CWW, Aramil, T-Wolf, Jozan, Man@Arms un Broken Demongate. I got map initiative and we played on King’s Road. I got my side and let him begin. He took the slaying arrow shot on a Watcher but failed incorporeal. I spread my Watcher to make sure that his CWW or Shield Guardian didn’t get more then 2 of them. He advanced the Shield Guardian as fast as he could and stayed in the back with the rest of his casters. My Watchers ignored the Guardian next round and flew to the Caster. Ulmo killed his T-Wolf and moved near the Solar (based by two Watcher). The Solar and Aramil killed a Watcher, while my last Watcher charged Aramil, who routed. I won initiative next round and began killing his casters, but missing against Jozan and the CWW. He killed one Watcher with a Lightning bolt. I had the activation advantage and after my watchers attacked the Solar and hit, I moved Ulmo last and tried the stun on the Solar. He made the save and it looked good for him. I began next initiative and attacked the Solar 3 times with Ulmo the last with stun, which he passed. He was down to 65HP. My Watcher attacked for another 5. The Shield Guardian smacked a Watcher and a lightning bolt killed it. Then my last Watcher attacked the Solar for another 5 HP. The Solar missed his attacks against the Watcher and Ulmo. I won next initiative and hit the Solar for 10 more forcing morale. He failed and flew away. Soon after I reached 200. 4:0.
Next to my game Peter dropped after beating his opponent. The standings came and I saw on no. 8 a familiar face. Martin “Adkainen”. In the early days of my DDM (right before last years EC) Martin and I had a couple of games. He is like a mentor for me.
So we sat down for our quarterfinal and he showed me his warband. Cleric of Corellion Larethian+Bat, 3x Bralani, Asura, Graycloak+Wolf, Devis, Xeph on Dragondown. He won map initiative while I won side ini. I lost first Initiaitve and moved my Watchers. I was able to get a Watcher in his VA so he wasn’t able of getting points while I did. He shot with his ranged attackers but he missed lots of shots (or failed incorporeal). He won the second initiative and I advanced even more. He damaged 3 Watchers (each took 10). I was near him and had only 40 damage taken so far. He won ini again and lined two times on two Watcher but failed 3x Incorporeal while I made my save for the last (which wasn’t damaged yet). I swarmed him and killed Devis, a Xeph and routed his Wolf. He spread out after killing a Watcher and I eliminated his Graycloak. He killed another Watcher with a Bralani-line. After his Asura failed 4x Incorporeals of 6 rolls with both of his fire auto damage. At this point Ulmo just did some shots and stayed near the VA. He then won another Ini killing routing my Cleric of Order and attacked my tile grabbing Man@Arms with a Bralani. He missed and Ulmo came down to smack him. He then killed the Man at Arms but lost a Bralani. My two remaining Watchers go for the flank to help Ulmo. He won next initiative and tried to kill the flanking watcher but missed with the first attack. His 2nd killed it. The other Watcher was based by the Asura with only 10 left. I flew him to the flank and he missed it on the aoo. Ulmo did his Work and he wasn’t able to get back with his Asura and last Bralani. So I managed to get to 200.
In the half Final I had to play Elard Hübner again. He won map initiative again and as well as the last game I got the side. Unlike our first game he didn’t made the incorporeal checks and he even failed the stun save (the first stun that failed of all games) against his VC. Once we got into melee it was soon over. No shocking Grasp or Lightning bolt made incorporeal and my Watcher didn’t miss a thing. I advanced to the finals and had to play against Tino “Yerf” Frey.
Tino played Ryld, 2x LBD, Thrall, 3xOW and Hunting Hyena on Hellspike. He won map initiative and we played on his. I moved my figures and got VP from a Watcher, he got on my VA as well and I shot two times with Ulmo on the Hunting Hyena. I hit both but he made the out-of-command-no-los-to-Dragon morale save… Next round he won initiative and smacked my Cleric of Order with his Thralls swift attack, luckily I routed and he didn’t get 20HP. He then ran back. His first Dragon breathed on one Watcher and my Man at Arms. He made incorporeal and I failed my save. I killed two OW and shot once on the Hyena while Ulmo went to the battle. Next round he attacked with all his Beaters my Watchers and killed one. I killed the Hyena and another OW. Ulmo went into combat and stunned a Dragon. I was behind 44:61. So far I only hit 3 of my 10 Sacred Watcher attacks against his Dragons. I won next Initiative and killed the unstunned Dragon with Ulmo and a Watcher. He attacked with his Beaters and killed two more Watcher. He was still leading 88:97. He won initiative and killed the 4th Watcher with Ryld. He stepped back out of the fight. The Dragon missed all attacks against the last Watcher. Ulmo killed the Dragon and went to a VA. I was now ahead 142:115. He had to kill that last Watcher fast to go after Ulmo. If he went right to Ulmo the Watcher would get enough tile points from the other VA. So after he won initiative he double moved Ryld and flanked with the Thrall to hopefully kill the Watcher. He made the incorporeal and I got another round of tiles. 152:133. I moved Ulmo further away. He then lost Initiative and had to go first. He double moved both next to Ulmo (but couldn’t flank him). I attacked three times once with stun but the Thrall made the save. After that attack the Thrall had 30 HP left. He won initiative next round and hit Ulmo once with the Thrall. I hit him for another 15 damage. He won last initiative and attacked with the Thrall hitting again. Ulmo made morale and Ryld could kill him. He only scored one hit and Ulmo killed the Thrall. Both of us thought that it was over because I got over 200 but Alepulp remembered us of the new Thrall and I had to roll once more but with save 16 Ulmo didn’t fail and the game was over.

| I've talked to two people this past weekend who informed me that the 4th place (large silver dragon warband) in german nationals was using the SPINDOWN DICE the whole time! Oh, man, what a CRAP person that must be. Those dice are illegal for tournament play because they have the figures placed in a non-randomized way.
That sucks so much I want to curse and hit something, man. I HATE CHEATERS.

Well, i don´t like that speech!
I don´t think the large silver dragon player has cheated at all. He just did not know that a "spin down dice" is illegal and honestly i did not know that this dice is illegal as well before i was told during the tourney by Peter Scott. I even don´t know which kind of dice i used, so i might have used a "spin-down dice" as well, just not with a kind of cheating result [ ]. The championship was held in a very good atmosphere and i really don´t think there was any player that cheated at all. If you accuse others of cheating in international foren, please talk first to the players or let them know what you accuse them. I have seen a few of the matches of the large silver dragon player and i am absolutely sure he did not cheat!

| Locked. Just because someone uses a die with the numbers clustered doesnt mean they are cheating. they are illegal, but after the fact posting a rant on a forum does no good.
