| | One detail. The Entry Fee is $30, not $35 for the Pre-release. We'll still be having some fun side prizes, don't worry! | | Gryfalia's Aerie Bloomington/Normal's only dedicated Game Store! www.gryfaliasaerie.com forums.gryfaliasaerie.com | |

| Well, we had a good showing our first time out with 11 players including some new faces and Majistral (Steve) up from Carbondale. Steve's trip was worth it as he took first place and the five boosters (and that with no rares!)
1st - Majistral (Steve) Warpriest of V, Brass Golem, other 2nd - Lalato (Sam) Didn't play him and can't remember off the top of my head. 3rd - Stuart D. - a local with no handle. His Medusa Archer won the day stoning far more figures than she ever gave up points. One match she stoned his opponents three beaters! 4th - Kirk - another local with no handle. My match with him came down to points, he had 218 to my 203 on the same round, dang!
Me and Thousandsofminis - (Adam) finished 6 and 7 I think.
My Band - Aspect of Loviatar Mind Flayer Lich Gnoll CLaw Fighter Hobgobo Sarge Kua Toa Hunter
I was close to sitting out the Lich and playing some combination of Greater Barghest/Earth Mephit instead, but I couldn't resist all that paraylisis. In hindsight I probably should have done that.
My Matches - Rnd 1 vs. Dave (local) - lost Frost Giant Jarl, 2x Eagle, Assasin, ect. His map, Drow Enclave. I knew it was pretty much take out the giant since he could chase me down trying to run around for tile points. We met in the hallway on one side and duked it out. Came down to round 3 init, and I lost. THe AoL routed and the Lich was down to 20 HP. THe Lich routed the Giant, but we were opposite his exit and he rallied next turn and the AoL did not. That was pretty much game. If I had won that init, made the save on AoL, or paralysed the giant it would have been different.
Rnd 2 vs. Majistral (Steve) - won My map, Ratfang Sewers Steve pulled the Wraith and Raistlin for his rares, not the most playable, so he built with uncommons, most notably the Warpriest of V, halfling tombseeker, and Brass Golem. First round he forgot about the motivate and exposed his Warpriest to an empowered Melf's from the Alhoon, then second round engaged the lich with the brass golem in the bars/jail area. That left me an opening to go up the middle towards his warpriest with the AoL. Next round I got to the Warpriest and she routed to one square from the exit. She rallied next round, but by that time it was too late. My Gnoll and Kua Toa had finished the tombseeker and the AoL popped the Warpriest and the Golem and all that was left was his Babau and Bluespawn with a little support from a Guard Captain. I mopped up the babau and that was pretty much it. At least I handed the winner his only loss
Rnd 3 vs. Kirk His Map - Kings road - He was playing a Brass Golem, Flesh Golem, and Dracotaur - great, all immune to my parylisis effects! He came up to kill my gnoll and I worked to the back and got the Delver Seargeant that his Brass was tacked to. He managed to work his prisoner up to his exclusive victory area though while I was hiding in the trees from his hitters. THey missed a lot of attacks on the Lich in the trees but finally killed him and the Aol finished them off, but by that time we both scored 200 on the same round, my 203 to his 218, very close. I should have pinged his prisoner when I had the chance!
Rnd 4 vs. Chad (somewhat local and new, has a handle on Wizards) My map, Ratfang - Chad is playing Large Gold, Gnoll, and some other stuff. Our gnolls met in the middle towards his end and my mains and commander stayed back and spread out. He ended up landing behind my line but he had to double to get there, so no breath. I motivate the AoL to within reach and smack him three times, next round win init, smack him more and he makes morale, then I motivate away. He could only get one of my pieces in any cone, so he did fire on my AoL and she failed, but it was too little too late. Next round my guys finish goldie and I finish the day with a win.
All around they were good and close matches and the guy with probably the worst pulls won!
Hope all had a good time and hope to see most back for the release next week!

| Adam (Thousandsofminis) has had a change of heart and has declared that, in the future, he WILL play the medusa. At which point I mentioned that if he does, it will never, ever stone anyone...
The only thing I remember about Sam's band is the white dragon..and the fact that he had the dice dungeon to help him roll poorly at critical times! And that, no matter how hard we tried to send him home with his maps..we still have one of his.
It was a great time and I was happy with our first pre-release at the Aerie../dance. Thanks to everyone for coming down, it was fun!

| Whoops I forgot that the winner is supposed to post the results. Never having won one of these before
I went 3-1 coming in first in a nailbiter of a final game with sam(Lalato).
I pulled crap in my two boosters, or so I thought.
Raistlin Majere Dread Wraith Brass Golem Drow Enforcer Greenspawn Zelot Warpriest of Vandria Babau Halfling Tombseeker Greyhawk City Militia Sergeant Kuo-toa Hunter Delver sergeant Bluespawn ambusher Carnage Demon Deep Legionaire Guard of Mithral Hall Prisoner
Looking around I see a Large gold, a Frost Giant Jarl, a Nobel salamander and a White Dragon in my immediate area, my heart sank I was so dead. I figured my best shot was to do as much damage as quickly as possible and try and gain extra VP’s. I dithered and dithered for nearly the whole time trying to figure out how to get the dread wraith, the babau ,the brass Golem and the warpriest into the band. Couldn’t be done the dread wraith was just too expensive and didn’t bring what I needed with the babau. I tried to figure out if I could get Raistlin in but decided he also wouldn’t be worth it for the idea I had in mind, too easy to kill and would deny me activations.
I went with: Warpriest of Vandria Greyhawk City Militia Sergeant (mistake on my part I miscounted in my hurry I could have used the Delver Sergeant) Brass Golem (Tied to Warpriest) Babau Halfling Tombseeker Bluespawn Ambusher Kuo Toa Hunter 198 points on teleport temple
I needed to set up powerfull charges, flank attacks for the Babau and let the halfling loot in peace and teleport temple looked like my best choice.
I lost map init every game but still played on my map in 3 matches.
1st match: Curt(no screen name) Flesh Golem,Brass Golem,Delver Sergeant x2, Dracotaur Rager, Prisoner, Deep legionnaire(kings road)
He won map but wanted to play in Teleport temple. He had never skimished before and didn't realize you had to tie the Brass Golem to a Commander and if the commander died the golem was elimintated. I ignored his Flesh Golem and tied up his Brass Golem with mine. The Babau and Halfling ganged up on the Rager and managed to sneak attack it to death then went commander hunting. After I eliminated his delver sergeant and the Brass Golem tied to it he conceeded.
1-0
2nd match: Chris (Red Ranger) Mind flayer Lich, Aspect of Loviatar, Gnoll claw figher, Koutua hunter, Hobgoblin Marshal (ratfang sewer)
He won map init and choose the Sewers
His above post pretty much sums up the match, two MC's in the 3rd round pretty much decided the match in my opinion. My warpriest failed hers and his Hobgoblin marshal made his. That gave Chris's AoL easy access to kill my warpriest who would have run and hid behind the Golem if she hadn't failed MC (D'oh).
1-1
3rd match: Adam(thousandsofminis)Exarch of Tyranny,Dire Tiger,Verdant Reaver,Greyhawk city militia sergeant,hobgoblin marshal,Kuatoa hunter, darkmantle(Mithral mines)
He won map init but chose mine
This match was won by two minis, the halfling tombseeker who looted every round getting an extra 30 vps and the Brass Golem that just wouldn't die. we danced around for two rounds seeing who could charge who first. He got the Dire Tigers charge off on the Brass Golem first doing 40 points of damage but I threw my entire(except the halfling)warband at it teleporting the Babau into a flanking postion for the extra damage, I managed to kill it before it activated again. He teleported in everything but his VP gathering Darkmantle and it was on. 3 rounds later his Verdant Reaver,Greyhawk city militia sergeant, hobgoblin marshal,Kuatoa hunter are all gone and his Exarch is down to 25 hps, i've lost my Babau, Kuatoa hunter,Greyhawk city militia and my Golem is down to 15 hitpoints.I won the last init and Adam conceeded as he couldn't kill 120 point of my warband with just his Exarch before my halfling got the 24 points I needed.
2-1
4th match: Sam(Lalato) Greyhawk militia, White Dragon,Greater Barghest, Halfling Tombseeker,Gnoll Clawfighter,Greenspawn Zealot,Kuatoa hunter(teleport temple)
I had no business winning this game, Sam’s band was better than mine and he is a much better pilot. He was in a big hurry, had to be somewhere in 45 minutes, so he played speed DDM. I tried to oblige and play as fast as I could as well. We both made mistakes due to the speed but he made more(in his opinion, some of his ‘mistakes’ I never saw so couldn’t capitalize on).
We both had halfling tombseekers but he killed mine on the 3rd round so he was getting more VP's than me from that point on. The game was perilously close coming down to if I could kill both his Zealot and White dragon before the his halfling could get two more rounds of looting. I managed to kill both in the same round pushing me over the top but just bearly ahead of him. His one big mistake that I did notice was forgetting that his 5 hitpoint Barghest would die as well if he hit and killed my Babau.
3-1
I had a lot of fun and everyone was great, it was good meeting people in person once again. And a big thanks to Gryfalia's Aerie for running a great tournament.
