| A) Congratulations to David Korejtko. He really deserved winning the European Championship this year.
B) Special thanks to Peter Scott and Ian Richardson.
C) My Tournamanet Report:
I decided on saturday morning before the tournament to play:
Inspiring Marshal 2 Asura 2 Bralani Graycloak Ranger + Timber Wolf 2 Xeph Warrior Map= Dragondown Grotto
I mainly built up this band to counter 2 or less Large Black Dragon warbands or Ultroforge warbands. However I did not meet any Large Blacks.
I won all my games on Saturday becoming first before the quarterfinal which I lost. Here are the games from my memory:
1) Against an english player (Ultroloth, Heir, Firegiant, Fodder)
We played on my map and he was running behind my warband so I easily won this game.
2) Against Cesare Carini (Ultroloth, Heir, Firegiant, Fodder)
We played again on my map. This game became very close because I was playing really too defensively. Cesare had only the Giant at 30hp and the Ultroloth at 10hp left but 10 minutes before the end of the hour Cesare was leading due to more VP. I missed the Giant on the lower Victory Area very often with my ranged attacks but finally with a lucky shot from one Asura I killed the giant. This was another very good setup for me. Great sportsmanship, Cesare did not use his two BYES from the last EU.
3) Against an english player (Moon elf, 4 Shadowdancer, Trickster, Xeph, Wild Elf Warsinger)
This was the closest game of all games I have played in that tourney. I won map initiatives again and we played again on the Grotto. Round one started only with me getting Victory Points. At the start of round 2 my opponent won initiative and decided to use tactics. That was a good decision because his warband was very close together so I could easily have burned them with winds. All his invisible minis did not attack. After his tactical move all shadowdancers were spread out in the center of the grotto with the invisible commander occupying the central VA. At this point of the game I had no clue how to go on further. Therefore I decided to do some damage as a psychological thing, just to show my opponent, I am still dangerous against his invisible people.
I used a grant move action to bring the asuras in burning positions and one Bralani in a position to whirlwind blast one of my Xephs hitting two shadowdancers. Both dancers saved. One burning wind killed the xeph and dealt 10 damage to the moon elf. The other Asura forced MC to the wild elf which failed MC and dealt another 10 to the moon elf. After these moves all my Asuras and Bralani flew over to the direction of his starting area into the forests while my commander followed them. I scored tiles with the Graycloak. Next round was another just movement phase. Noone attacked. In the next round aggression started with tactics on his side. All his dancers and the Trickster became visible attacking the Marshal and one attacked a xeph. My opponent needed all three dancers to finish my marshal because one attack missed and I passed MC. The in the lower left forest the battle between the asuras + Bralani against the shadowdancers started with the better end for me. This was my only game that was decided on points, I think it was something like 150-140. Good and interesting game !
4) Against Björn Klugmann (CoO, Couatl, Shield Guardian, Balista, 2 T-Wolves, Mialee, CWW)
Björn´s map was the Grotto as well, so we played there. It was an interesting game. I managed to grant move both of my asuras next to the ballista which had to go out of the forest in a previous round to shot at least one time. I luckily passed here two MC´s, one with an asura the other with a bralani out of command.
5) Against the Spanish Champion (Marilith, Canoloth, Orc Wizard, Buffing minis for the Marilith)
We played on his map, the fields of ruin. The Marilith is a monster but I allowed it only to attack at AoO´s while killing the other minis of his warband. With only the Marilith and one Commander left, while I have only lost one Bralani my opponent conceded. It was a very interesting game however, just the fields of Ruin were not bad at all for me.
6) Against Jan van Elshocht (Ultro, Chraal, Duergar Champ, Heir, Snig + Fodder, Bat, 12 activations)
At this point of the game only Jan and me were standing 6-0 so the winner would automatically be qualified for the top 8. The game was decided on the map initiative roll. I won and we played on the Grotto. With no flyers on Jan´s side and fire damage from the Ultro the game was mainly over before it has started. However, Jan took every little chance in this game. He is a very fast player and while moving fast he doesn´t do mistakes. However the matchup and the map has benefitted me a lot here. Jan and David Corejtko were the best players in the field so the real final was the semifinal between them.
7) Against Vladas Anilionis (Ryld, 2 Frenzid, Trckster, TWolf, 3 Xeph)
I won again map initiatives so we played again on the Grotto. Vladas rolled horribly low in this game which decided it for me.
Quarterfinal) Against Eudes Salver (Storm, 2 Virtous Charger, CWW, Mialee, GCR, Fodder 10 Activations)
I made a lot of mistakes in this game. The first mistake was that we played on the grotto instead of his map, the drow outpost. The second mistake has cost me the game because I moved the Inspiring Marshal very stupid and I also made a horrible bad grant move action at the start of round two. I allowed Eudes to move his bat back which he placed too far away to the CWW to target it for a lighting bolt. Eudes played aggressively and with his superior speed the game was soon over after he has targeted my commander with that lightning bolt. Only one Bralani and one Asura could not stand against his storm and remaining Virtous Charger. Well played Eudes. | | | |

| Posted By Sean-Khan on 06/26/2007 5:07 AM I'm most interested in reading this, but one large text block really isn't pleasant reading :| I'd appreciate some paragraphing too!
Congrats to David (Is he at boards, at which name? Where from?) David is from Cech Republik. He is never at vassal.

| Thank`s for the report Adkainen! Seems you had a bit bad luck in the final 8 and you could have finished a bit more successful...
