As usual we had 4 participants - we'd love more, though! I went with a new band and went 2-0, but since one of our players was brand new I'm not gonna let that go to my head !

I had to try out the Gold Dragon, so here's what I went with:

140 Large Gold Dragon
24 Cleric of Order
6 Bat Familiar (tied to the CoO)
25 5 x Azer Raider
5 Timber Wolf
=
200 Points w/ 9 activations

Paul Mills and I faced off in Round 1 (of two) using (I think...)

Ultroloth
Mezzoloth
3x Duegar Champ - only 5 activations

We played on Broken Demongate and right off the bat I made the mistake of not knowing the Lines of Sight and lost my wolf and two Azers right away! So much for Activation advantage! But at least that gave the Large Gold his Wrath ability... until the Ultroloth nerfed him... But that's getting ahead of myself. The CoO and Bat Familiar did their work to buff the Large Gold Dragon to 25 AC and +16 saves.

Long story short, the LGoD got to his Ultroloth and then forced the Mezzoloth to run away - at that point I won on points by staying away from the Doogs.

2nd Round against Tom, the new guy. He played Paul's "Cone-O-Copia"

Ryld
Large Shadow Dragon
Large Black Dragon
3x Fire Mephit
2x Krenshar = 8 activations

Huh, Azer Raiders and Fire Mephits can't hurt each other (unless the Azer rolls a 20). We played on Market Square and I (amazingly!) won first round initiative! The CoO and Bat buffed the LGoD and moved away, so I avoided a 1st round Shadow Cone on them. We moved and positioned but I couldn't avoid the CoO being coned to death early on by the Flight 10 Fire Mephits - oh well! This match ended up coming down to the LGoD being almost untouchable. My opponent got rid of my fodder easily enough, but his beaters couldn't stand up to the LGoD... He also made the mistake of leaving his LShD not adjacent to a wall which I took advantage of.

Well, here's hoping we get some more players in two weeks! (October 2nd!) Cheers, -Ben
