My first match of the night was against Zak X playing a theme band. He won map and side so I started from the cave side of caves of chaos. Neither of us could get tile points in the first round, but with my activation advantage, I used the thrall to get tile points in the second round. After losing initiative in the third round, he tried to swarm the thrall but I took an AoO from Drizzt to get away, killing Devis in the process with his swift attack. After that, it was clear that he couldn't protect both victory area from me and that he would have to bring the fight to me. When he did, however, I was able to swarm Drizzt and take him down rather quickly with a number of attacks and fire bursts. After that, Wulfgar was the next target to be swarmed and with his low AC, he didn't last long against the high damage attacks. The game was pretty much over at this point.
I was paired down for the second match and played against Tomcat who was playing a 13 activation band built around forcing morale checks. Out of command, my archons would be saving at +12 which wasn't too appealing given that they would be making quite a few of them. Fortunately, I won map so we were playing on Hellspike. In the first round, I used the Thrall's swift attack to double move and kill a bat for the extra 20 hp. I also used up a fire burst to kill another before it had activated. Since we were now in caves of pain, a fire burst for 10 and one attack for 25 would kill an arcanix guard so I spent the first little while taking them out before I'd have to make too many morale saves. Unfortunately, I still managed to fail saves on all three of the archons at one point or another. Fortunately, I was being sure to keep them at least 17 squares from the exit so they'd have a chance to rally. A couple rounds later, they had all rallied but my Thrall (who had now killed 4 creatures) was all by himself in enemy territory and was being swarmed by enemies. The high inquisitor finally took him down but failed the new thrall save. He then used Zealotry but failed the save again so he became mine. Once all the archons got back to the fight, the rest of his warband fell quickly.
The final round was against Rar who was playing dwarves again (good ones this time). The last round was bounty so I figured my fodder would be prime targets but he really couldn't capitalize on it since he didn't have a fodder hunter in the warband. After the first round, I kept my warband just out of reach of his CoDDs while he was within 8 squares of my hitters. Neither of us got victory points in the first round since he didn't want to lose his TW to my Thrall. In the second round, however, he left the TW exactly 16 squares away and I was able to double move and kill him for the 20 extra hp. When he decided to base my hitters, I was able to move into flanking positions, hitting many dwarves at once when fire bursts went off. In the third round, he dropped one archon, but I responded by killing one Dwarf and morale checking another. Thanks to a couple timely low rolls by the dwarves, all my hitters were able to make attacks in the fourth round where another CoDD dropped and Bruenor was morale checked. He needed a 4 to pass morale but only rolled a 3. He hadn't activated yet, so I took the opportunity to switch to the intimidating drumbeat. On his rally check, he rolled a 4 which would have been enough if not for the orc wardrummer. That gave me more than enough points to go over 200.
