I won map. I advanced my Barghest around the edge of the map near Tiamat’s statue and tried to lure the big construct into the open hall with my team. The Ballista was positioned badly, because it wanted to shoot Stalker (Hide); then I moved my pieces closer. I attacked at the end of round. Won init and forced morale on Couatl. Passed. I blocked Marut’s way to the rest of his band by fodder and then by a Champ and I was able to kill the Couatl and Ballista along with some of the fodder and about 40 points of Vpoints. Then, Maimonides conceded.

I won map. The Stalker gave me advantage and I won 1st round init, thus killed both his kobolds. I positioned myself on the sacred circle near the statue of Tiamat and he had to attack. It was a big melee and I emerged victorious.

 

5th round – Márfy

I lost map. There were several rolls that went bad on my side, I almost killed the lich but never landed a killing blow. In the second round, the lich player rolled 19 and killed my Duergar. After that, there were another 3 (!) Fingers of Death and I failed 2 of them. Stupid.

 

4:1 for the first day and a second place after Márfy.

 

Day Two

 

Day two was a draft. I opened Eternal Blade and Cyclops, taking the Blade. Then I took Snaketongue Cultist (a weak booster), Astral Stalker, Fanatic, Mastiff, another Cultist and fodder. In booster number two I took WW Champion, Malison, Maulfighter and Spined Devil.

I lost map and chose the 3 VA side. We both advanced in the first round. Then, I made a mistake and let the Snake occupy the „coccoon“ VA. I went there with Dwarf and killed the Snake in the next round. I kept Stalker near and advanced on the other side, scoring VP form second round. Few rounds later there was a melee around my „prison cell“ VA. He attacked my dog with Dryad, hitting and Mastiff was routing. I moved my leader closer to the VA and rallied him before killing the Dryad. Ondikac attacked with all beaters. I won init and droppedEternal Blade and injured General. Next round, I killed him and smashed a Rogue (previously hit by Farmer) with Dwarf.

I won map, but lost side. I got the cold one. We met near the fire protection squares, Mastiff went for the protection, I killed his Blade and that was it. We both have occupied VPs the whole time. WW Champ was hurt once and then killed everything almost alone.

I won map and side. I never lost an initiative in this match except one. I chose the fire side. I wanted to kill his leader by doble moving Stalker, which I did in about 4th round. The first 3 rounds we only maneuvered and advanced very slowly. My opp (Europian Master, by the wayJ) charged with Cyclops and killed mastiff in my VA near Tiamat. I used Training and Assault and landed some damage. I also attacked with Dwarf and WWCH. He advanced closer and attacked my Dwarf. Next turn, I missed with all attacks (Blade + enraged WWCH), which was quite bad. He double moved the Osyluth around (not through the statue) and got exactly to MR distance from Blade. Next round was about missing almost everything that could have been missed, for example morale save of my dwarfL Then, next round, I won init and dropped Cyclops, then Blade died. I killed the Cultist and did 60 dmg to the snake. I managed to rally the dwarf, though. Next round, I lost initL and that was the end, because the rest of my team routed.

 

I also lost all poison saves (about 5 or 6), which helped my opponent a lot. If it wasn’t for the routing figs, I could have won. But it was a very very close one. Eob played very well.
