| Edit: Updated list posted on 2/16.
Read down to the last post, beyond the sign-up sheet. It looks like we've got room for more players.
So, let's set this up.
I propose a site in the Lansing area--I know there are some game shops in East Lansing, pretty much on MSU's campus, that are large enough to accomodate us.
We need to plan this, and I'd be happy to work with whomever would like to help.
It would be great to set up some kind of tournament where in the first round, we have as many west-state players pair off against east-state players, and then try to match up the players after that. It won't work every round, but it would be cool.
We could also do round-robin play. Pods of 4, two from east, two from west, each player plays the two from the other side of the state, and after the matches are over, the top players from each pod advance.
Lots of alternatives (happy to see suggestions from others).
We could all chip in $10 and buy some boosters for prizes, or maybe talk someone into some custom repaints or something.
And, yes, Windsor will count as east Michigan.
Anyone want to work with me on setting this up?
I'll post this on Hordelings and WotC too.

| | Tentative info: Saturday, December 2nd at Fun 4 All in Ypsi. We should probably start by 11 at the latest if we're planning on 5-6 rounds with a lunch break in the middle. I'll contact Richard at F4A for Saturday store hours. | | | |

| John,
December 2 rings a bell - I think it might be the date of limited qualifier. If that is the case it is being held at Fun 4 All on that date. Just an fyi.

| Given that the Ypsilanti Limited qualifier is 12/2 and the Niles qualifier is 12/9, I'm wondering if 12/9 is the best date for this.
I might still be up for it, but we could lose some players if they're headed to Niles.

| I don't know about anyone else, but I have found myself almost entirely out of time to devote to setting this thing in motion. And, from the looks of things now, December is all but a wash.
Sigh.

| | Let's let it go until January. It's a bad time of year to plan something like this, and I think schedules will be clearer in the new year. | | | |

| If it's January, count me in. I'm a little rusty in Constructed, but willing to fight for the honor of the East Side.
Thinking about it, isn't this really more about Southeast Michigan-Windsor vs. the whole rest of the state? Don't want to exlcude Saginaw, Flint, Traverse City, Alpena, Grayling, Petoskey or the U.P., right? | | Champion of Iconics & the Apparatus of Kwalish (Constructs with Drivers? Brilliant!) | Hey.
Brad Shugg is thinking about putting together a December event in Kalamazoo. I'll get details here as soon as I get them from him.
If any easterners want to travel over here, you'll be most welcome.

Dave Keep us posted. Although I would be very interested, and I might even be able to drag one or two folks from Buffalo / Rochester, travelling in December and before the holidays to Michigan might be problematic at best.Â
From where I call home (Buffalo) its about 4 hours to Port Huron MI. From there to Kalamzoo I'm looking at about 2-3 more hours. So overall not too bad a trip.Â
If you can have something in the spring, that might be more do-able.Â
We'll see.Â

| Okay, it's looking like I can put together a tournament at a store in Kalamazoo, on the same weekend as D&D Experience. So, if you're not driving to Arlington, you can play right here in Michigan.
Details to be released soon. But, the game will probably be Saturday, February 17, at a little place called "The Game Shop."Â The link is to a Google map that shows where this place is relative to the I94/US131 interchange.
I'm assuming the game will be 200 point and not 500 point, but, we have enough time that a serious outcry one way could persuade me. And, I'm not sure yet, but maybe if there's enough interest we could go with the Wretched format (but, I doubt there will be such interest).
No word yet on prizes or any of that, but, we'll work on it.
If you're quite sure you can make that date, please post.

| | It's likely 3-6 from the typical Windsor crew could make it. Most of us would be interested in standard Constructed 200 points.
(If we played Wretched, we'd want Highlander rule for sure and possibly other minor alterations.)
Considering it's a 3 hour drive for us, how early would we be looking to start (and how late to finish)? | | | |

Shazbot! Sorry there Mork.Â
We could, I suppose, try to schedule for the weekend after. I still have to hammer out details with the store owner (who, if I can swing things, will also be the judge, so I can play).
For now, though, I'm sticking with the 17th. If we can get significantly more for the 24th, then, well, maybe we'll have to do that. (On the other hand, a lot of you guys might be burned out from the previous weekend.)

| Hey guys, a little update.
First, it looks like a 3pm to 9pm deal. Apparently there are two other tournaments scheduled for that day for that store. One starts at noon and should be down to a playoff by 3 (and therefore only in need of one table); the other starts at 5, but uses a different size table.
So, given that this isn't a big store, and that there will be two other groups competing for space, we're also putting a store-imposed cap of 20 players on this event. Brad is in, all you guys who have replied here will be in, and a couple Sturgis guys I know are in. I'll be the judge (the store owner will be TO, but is vehemently opposed to judging or getting another judge, and that's cool with me--if we have an odd number of players, I'll get in some games with whomever gets the byes).
We're tentatively looking at $12 for entry and prizes. We're also tentatively looking at 15 players getting us the following booster distribution: 1st place = 4 boosters, 2nd place = 3 boosters, 3rd and 4th place = 2 boosters each. I'll try to talk the owner into making sure all the boosters come from 1 case, but...we'll see. More players means more boosters as prizes, but, with a cap of 20 that's probably one more booster per person in the top 4. He's got reporting software (he thinks), but, he's never used it while also using it for another event. He says he's done DCI before, so, we'll keep our fingers crossed.
This guy runs a nice little place, and has a goliath for competition down the road, so it would be nice to get a little crowd in there.

| Okay, latest news. It looks like I'll be offering up a virtual sign-up sheet, and will keep a tally here and on the WotC boards.
Probably in another week or so I'll start it.
Shouldn't be a big problem with space, quite a few folks from my area cannot make it.

| should we start a sign up list for fill in spots for peole who dont show? think it would be a good idea for those people who live close and wouldnt be to upset be making the trip and not being able to play in the tourney, if theres anyone out there. also, it would be good so that those of us who have to make a 3-4 hour trip dont get there and only half the people show. i guess either way playing against new people is always fun, just playing the game is fun, it was just an idea | | Champion of Manshoon of the Zhentarim addict of orcs, ogres, and anything that smashes | |

| Hi Dave.
Ok I have shored up at least 4 of the 6 Windsor spots. Weather permitting four of the Windsor people going will be:
Dan Burr Aaron Gallie Ryan Dodich Terry Dodich
There were two other confirmations that I was waiting for and just found out now that neither one can attend due to previously scheduled engagements. I would say it is unlikely we will be bringing anyone else so please give away our other two spots. If things should change I will contact you immediately.
Thanks,

| Good luck to one and all.Â
If I was not going to XP I was originally thinking about trying to make that trek from Buffalo across Ontario to Michigan.Â
Maybe another time. Sometime like Spring, Summer, or Fall wneh there is less snow.Â
Again, good luck one and all and have a blast.Â

| Okay guys, here's the latest. Start time is 3pm (because there's another event at the shop, starting at noon--the owner assures me we'll have space). If you can be there, with your band's info written on a piece of paper, by 2:30, I'd appreciate it.
Cost = $12
We're playing at The Game Shop.
The Game Shop 3307 S Westnedge Avenue Portage, MI 49008Â [Portage is basically Kalamazoo, so, just pretend it's Kalamazoo.] (269) 344-1818
The owner's first name is Aaron.
Simplest directions from anywhere:
Take I-94 through Michigan, take the Westnedge exit north (exit 76B). Take Westnedge north a couple miles, the Game Shop is on the right.
The Game Shop is a small, small building, next to a Taco Bell and across the street from a McDonald's. As you drive in, the Taco Bell is on the left of the Game Shop, on the right is a school.
The parking lot is tiny--good luck. With any luck, the school will have some parking spaces. Otherwise, parking will be a problem. Carpooling will help.
