Now the final decision is up to Brad, but I think the best way to distribute the trophies is for 1st place to have 1st choice, 2nd to have next choice, etc. (And so if Brad decides to have a best sportsman prize, I suggest that they get the figure left over after chosen by 1st, 2nd and 3rd.)

| Personally, I think the Ogre is the best, and it will probably be chosen as the first place model. The Elf Pyromancer and Orc Champion are pretty close and I think that comes down to preference and what faction the winner prefers; I like the Pyro better but that's personal preference. I think Urthok is the least interesting but it's a way better sculpt than the DDM plastic version.
So you might be able to get the Orc Champion if you win 3rd, but that's not certain. | | Champion of the common Flying Monkey (Fez optional) Peter Lee on the WotC board BAD WOLF

| After looking at them, I was thinking a figure for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and then one for the Second Chance Champion. Probably the Urthok for Second Chance as he is the only Uncommon.
Then I can do a flat number of boosters for 1st -4th, then 5th through 8th, then some for the top 1 or 2 for the 2nd chance. Then finally some boosters for Best Sportsmanship | | Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested! Check out my brand new blog: http://bshugg.blogspot.com

| Any locals want to fill me in on this? Suppose I'm taking 90/94 in from Indiana. Somewhere around Montrose I can pick a route to get to Pastimes. What's the best route?
Also, anyone local want to fill us in on road construction projects? Are there any things we should watch out for?
One more thing, once I pass Gary, about how long should it be (assuming normal driving conditions) before I get to Pastimes?

| I will definitely be going to this. The prizes look awesome. You guys are putting a lot of effort into this and that is much appreciated. I should be able to get a friend to come along as well.
Actually, the new Pastimes is directly across the street of the old one. It is in a strip mall that is right next to a Toys R' Us.
It is unfortunately quite a bit smaller than the older store but is still a lot bigger than most hobby shops. If I had to estimate, if we were able to use all the table space of the shop, you could probably fit around 100 people comfortably. But probably more. I have never been good at estimating. :)
I think there should be plenty of room for what the turnout should be. What are we estimating at?

| It really depends on the chicago and immediate area. I know of about a dozen coming from east of chicago, but don't really have any numbers of the west or south areas or the actual city groups themselves.
I tried pulling out all the stops on prizes, but don't have a local presence to promote the game being from Michigan and all. | Well, well. I had a good time, but I didn't do very well. I think the trophies were so beautiful that I was stunned out of my ability to play.
I played a Marut, dual-Couatl band, but I had about the worst match-ups I could imagine. My first match was a win (vs. Ryld + three Red Samurais), but I lost every other match (one of which was to my own son--isn't that nice?).
Anyway, my DCI rating just took a thrashing, but I'll be back, for qualifiers, to exact some revenge.

And we all ant to thank Bshugg and Peter who had everything running well. It's appreciated!

4th is Nate Scheidler... that's me! :) The only other piece in my band was 1 Kobold Miner. In my matchup with Curt, the dice were definitely not on his side and I also denied him victory points while managing to rack up a lot myself. His low activation count was his biggest weakness, and I was able to exploit that a lot in the earlier rounds. While it would have been fun to play out against Rebecca for 3rd, I had decided that my time had come and opted to claim an hour of my evening in addition to my prize pack (don't worry guys, not much of excitement in those boosters... ;) ). | | Thanks for the memories. :)

| | Yeah, Nate played a really good game. I didn't think that tile points would matter as much when I had quickly dispatched of his Helmed Horror and neither of us had tile points until the end of round 3. By that point, I thought it would be smooth sailing with having the helmed horror base the Ogre Mage with the Chraal tied to it, so I basically made a move to wipe out his army. The only problem was that I never won initiative with my 4 to 3 commander rating and then again with my 4 to 1 commander rating and he was able to kill my rakshasa and my dueregar routed off the board. He played a really good game and it could have gone either way with some different rolls. Not being able to take out 35hp with a helmed horror with blindsight was frustrating though. By that time his Chraal had already done some damage. What are you gonna do?? I'm sure Ricardo was thinking the same thing when he saw his AoK go into the pit courtesy of a Rakshasa slide.... That's dice. Good game Nate. | | | |

Yeah, when you started chewing through the horror I was starting to feel like maybe putting him out front wasn't such a good idea. Anyhow, looks like there's some serious DDM action brewing in the quad cities. Its also really nice to see that ingenuity continues to make a strong showing; I never would have expected an Efreeti to make it so far, and I snubbed the Rakshasa as a choice without considering the benefit of Bigby's hands on Helmed Horrors (and everything else). While the metabands still made it to top 4, as always, its the stuff nobody expected that always seems to come out on top. Well built, well played, and next time let's hope dice aren't as much of a factor. ;) | | Thanks for the memories. :)

| | Congrats to you guys at the tournament. I always like to read about differant bands and how well they perform in a tournament setting. Rav, I wish you would have just posted your band on Merrics site without giving its "credentials". I'm sure many of the "experts" would have scoffed at the idea of tying a Chrall to the Ogre Mage. But obviously you did a great job. When are they going to start having tournaments on Sundays so the postman can play?[:(] | | | |

Matchups, I think, played a significant role in determining which bands and players moved up or down at this thing. I saw a lot of variety (only two CG bands, I think, though), and this variety meant that some people got some very favorable matchups while others got very unfavorable matchups.
But, honestly, if an Ogre Mage can get piloted into the top 4, you know there had to be some strong players piloting those bands.
[aside] By the way, a friend of mine ran a four Eye of Gruumsh band. He got creamed. Against a CE LRD band, he missed two crucial swings (you just don't count on Gruumsh missing), and against another band he missed 9 swings in a row (in a row!) with Gruumsh. (This friend is the same one who is responsible for a slowly growing pile of d20s in the bottom of a river near his place of work. I keep telling him that there's some god of chance out there that he's really p'd off, but he keeps blaming the dice. Still, nine in a row? C'mon, that's just absurd.) [/aside]

Neither he or I could believe the luck {terrible} he had. Basically the entire match we had he hit Once with 4 eye's...that was on a 20 against a gith monk that was going after a tile grabber. he sent two eyes after him and it took two full rounds to finally snag the gith. The Dwarven Defender, iron golem and second gith were untouched the entire match. It was disturbing. The lantern bearer was the difference on prolly 4 or 5 of those missed swings.

| Thanks to everyone who came out and made this a success. I was hoping for 20 players and we ended up with 30 total. Thats even with a lot of people who said they were coming not showing up. I think the bit of snow had some effect on the players, but 30 was still great. In truth the venue couldn't really hold any more.
The second chance tournament was a really nice feature that the players really seemed to enjoy. It gave them a chance to "start over" to erase early bad rolling or warband choices.
