No problem. If you have to leave early, you have to leave early. We had a few people only play one or two rounds last year. As everyone kicks into the prize pool everyone gets something as well, even if you leave early. It just mihgt not be as big a prize as someone who finishes undefeated. | |

Prizes: In the past we've seen parts of retail kits, random loose rares, sets of commons/uncommons (which for older sets is pretty valuable...), loose boosters, board games, D&D Nostalgia items (I grabbed the monster cards from ~1982 at Winter Fantasy!), chainmail figures (that are legal in DDM) etc.
The last 2 events, the items that went fastest were repainted, or custom figures. Peter Lee has donated Custom carved, cast, and painted Huge Earth Elementals. Some of Runelord's stuff has been featured as well.

People have also had some of the monthly prize kit stuff as prizes. The modules, templates, repaints, and I'll be the Epic cards will be very highly wanted by players who may not get some of these where they live. | |

Last year in the prize pool there was two Quebec beer in it that were taken for the by someone in the top 5 lol (well it was microbrewerie stuff and it was French canadian bottle so it is big)
But usuly just bring anything you would also like to get that did it for me and i think i'll still bring some beer has a prize | |

When you guys say "adult beverages", would a bottle of Bundaberg Rum qualify?
As far as being undefeated goes, I'll be happy to win even one game - four is not even in my sights. This sounds like a fun thing to do before taking the graveyard shift.

Well you will be missed, but I understand the reasoning. I'm sure you'll have as much fun at the wedding as you would at the maxminis event... no more dents in the table, you'll break your dice.

What are you crazy?!? There is no j/k around here. The organizers will always except gifts. KC10 the beer was great by the way! I think the organizers should get special pulls from the prize pool as they don't get to play in such a fantastic and fun event!
I mean we had a sell out crowd at WF and a huge crowd at Gen Con 05... this is a huge event for the game and proves that even with all the big tournaments many people like to play for some fun still. | |

Ah, bribes - errrm gifts - for organisers. I usually do beer for that. Australian beer of course .
Personally, I agree 100% that organisers should get a special pull from the prize pool. If you take the time and trouble to run an event for others to enjoy, and you can't participate in it yourself, then some kind of "thank you" is appropriate.

| If all goes as planned this WILL be an official event. Feel free to let us know your plans.
Currently we are looking at 64 slots for the event. What that means is that we will have 64 maps. We can probably accomodate up to 128, but the second set of 64 wouldn't get to keep their map (the limiting factor we have is the ability to print maps...).
Once GenCon registration is open, we will strongly urge every person who is currently "signed up" to go do so officially.

Well it is not official yet, that I have seen. We are still waiting to hear back from Gencon about the event. It would be goos to sign up if you have a ticket, but I'm not sure we will get a ton of people from outside of maxminis who sign up. | |

And with 60+ players comes 60+ prizes to organize and 60+ x 4 rounds of play to organize. I think it will make it run smooth and be a great event for all if we run it. Now if we need some extra bodies to make the draft work out nice, I'll gladly throw down some boosters and draft... maybe even sneak a game or two in on the side while organizing. | |

And a ticket... We are trying to get this done officially through Gen Con. You'll need to buy a ticket. We hope/expect to be able to accept generic's if we meet our quota (64) and host additional player, however, those additional player may not get a map...

| OK, I'm on vacation right now, but thought I would check really quickly to see if any news was out for Gen Con. As of right now, we are in the waiting for consideration section still. The deadline is now past for submissions so I'm sure they are now looking everything over. As soon as I have some new news, I'll post it for everyone.
Pat, have you considered when and what we will be doing for the map contest this time around? I have a few ideas and I'll let you know them off line for now. I would love to give everyone plenty of time to get their maps ready for submission. | |

No fears on the map: I'm working on a write up/invitation and hope to get it posted over the weekend. Fire away with your idea's...
