| Well, we are now SOLD OUT!
64 of 64 tickts have been sold. Now, if you didn't get a chance to preregister, DON'T DESPAIR!
First: We will have the ability to accept generic tickets to replace those players who don't show up to the event. We'll give them a few minutes leway before we pass on over to an unregistered atendee.
That said, have asked a few question on the Gen Con forums, it appears that we can accept generic tickets for players beyond the 64. Here is the deal, we had to set a cap to make sure we could get the maps printed properly. SO, we will have 64 maps available for our players. Obviously though, we could accomodate an additional 64 players, by teaming a player with a map with a player without one.
These unregisterd players won't have to pay for a map, so they will need to bring 3 generic tickets (this pays for the rental of your seat/table to Gen Con LLC). to participate.
If you have not been able to register at this point, but plan to be in attendance, please let us know in this thread, and we will continue to keep tabs on who may be coming.
Also, I know that at least one confirmed attendee (Monster_Slayer) has an extra ticket. Please let us know if you have a ticket that might come available for other participants to use!

| I will be there, although I could not buy a ticket. I didn't have the spare cash on hand to buy a badge, then replace it with the one at won at the Qualifier... [:(]
Oddly, though, it still let me buy tickets for other events without a badge... Weird, huh? | | *This post was recorded before a live studio audience*

That is definatley odd... In any event, you'll still be able to play, so mark you schedule accordingly, and bring 3 generic tickets with you!

| | I hope some of the Wotc can attend, that'd be great. I'm very excited except for one thing...I was all pumped up about painting a rare chainmail mini to bring but since I'm going to be moving sometime next month, I just won't have the time with everything else I have to do this summer. [V] Oh well. I think I have another cool idea which won't take up so much of my time. | | | |

| OK, I'll be doing some updating to this thread soon, but I wanted to post a question that I'm hoping people will read.
I had a chance to talk with someone about making this event a little more official, basically having access to a judge for the event still more for fun and not for DCI points. It would not change the cost and they might even be able to add in some more prizes and print some maps. It seems like a good idea to me, but I thought I would post it to the group and see what everyone thought. I don't want to lose the "FUN" aspect of this game put having a judge to walk around and some extra prizes might be nice.
Post and let me know. It is kind of time sensitive, so the sooner the better.

I'm not sure if there is an issue in this. As set up, we are not doing DCI points (doing so excludes WotC employee's from participating). As set up, WE were going to judge.
It sounds like what WotC is offering is to use the DCI system to set people up into pod's, and to keep track of everyone's record (and thus help determine tiebreakers). This adds "some" administration, but will actually speed the pairings up, so it is probably a wash. They would also bring us under their umbrella for the judges that patrol the floor for League games etc. SO, since Guy F is likely the head judge for the hall, he might end up being judge for our event.
Why would we say no?! Seriously, there are also more prizes this way! [)]

| i bet there will be a lot of contention for that judge should their be only 1 for a field of 64 or more.
i am definitely all for them joining in, bringing prizes, increasing the field, etc.
for those 'tough decisions' where we're really not sure on a ruling, hopefully people will be up for d20ing it off instead of waiting 5 minutes for the ump to arrive.

| Ah crap did you guys do general tickets to get into this event? Is there any way to get in if someone doesn't show up? I hadn't been paying attnetion and figured you'd just need to show up with prize support and all.
EDIT: Alright so I just read the post I should have read before I asked the above question. I would like to participate so I'll probably go the Generic Ticket route. No grinder this year to make me not want to stay up late. might as well add Thokk to the list as well. I bet I can talk him in to playing in it. He might be able to throw in some repaints as well for prize support. | | Looking to buy some figures? Chances are I may have them!! Check here!! Well, we will have 2 at least (Sean and Myself), and though I haven't talked with Sean directly about it, I think we will be getting some judging support from WotC as well.
All the same, this is a casual tournament. Note that with 64+ players 4 rounds of swiss will not produce a single undefeated player. In the 3 previous events, the casual style, and good hearted nature of the MaxMini's members has meant that there were NO issues with rules that weren't satisfied by the judges, or adjoining players.
I look forward to meeting you!

| Chris Groves also mentioned helping out and not playing this year. I think we will have plewnty of knowledgable players in the mix to answer any questions that might arise.
The days are slowly dwindling and we are a month away for this great event. Remember these few points:
1. This is a fun event... no DCI points will be affected, so everyone plays for fun.
2. It is also a draft, which can be a great equalizer, unless you are really, really, good at draft.
3. Everyone kicks in prizes, and everyone gets prizes... no one goes home empty handed!
4. This event is ment to build community and brotherhood/sisterhood in gaming. We want everyone to have fun and walk away feeling that maxminis members are the best any where for gaming, trading, good attitudes, and knowledge.

Okay, I really, REALLY want to play in this. I've been signed up since about the very beginning. And I've got others signed up.
But, I've been invited to the rather exclusive WizOs party at GenCon at 9pm on Saturday.
What the heck do I do?!
Frazzled.
Right now, I'm thinking I'll go to the event, draft, then scoot out and go to the WizO Party. But that kinda sucks.
Dang.

please, could someone explain me how to register to this event.
PS: and maybe, if it is mandatory, how to register to any other Gencon events, expecially the Grinder?
OK, here is the deal: You need to register for a badge to do anything at the GenCon registration pages. Buying your badge now saves you $10.00, so once you know your coming, definatley buy your badge!
next up events: "normal" events likely won't require a prepurchased ticket. An example of this type of event is the DDM "League" event. Other events (those with limited availability, or those that are very popular) are more likely to sell out. For these, you need to prepurchase your tickets.
The MaxMini's event has 64 official spaces, and as of today, only 15 tickets remain unsold.
Once you know you are coming to GenCon, I'd recommend buying your tickets ASAP!
to Register for a badge (and buy tickets) go to WWW.GenCon.com click on "Registration" at the top menu bar to reveal the pull down menu, and then selection "register for Gen Con Indy.
From this next page select "Create and Account". Here you will supply your personal information, and create a user name, and password to utilize the Gen Con registration process.
Once you have your username and password, you can use that same page to Log into the registration page.
Next up, You will see a hotlink to "Buy a Full Access Badge" You'll be taken to a page where you can add a badge to your shopping cart.
next up, buy tickets for your events. Going back to the "main" registration page, you will find an option called "Search the Gen Con Indy 2006 Events Catalog".
Here you can search for what ever games you might want to play. To find the MaxMinis event, select Saturday, and then in the box labeled "Title Contains:" Type in MaxMinis. There will be only one reply, and that is our event.
You can search for other DDM events using this tool, and then check out.
If it is possible have Gen Con mail you your tickets. I'm not sure if they will ship them oversea's, but be aware if you plan to pick them up first thing thursday morning, there will be a LONG line. If your flying into Indy in time to be at the Hall Wednesday night, you can also pick up your tickets at that time, and beat the line.
Good lucks, and let me know if there is anything else I can do to help!
Pat E

It is NOT to late. What you are likely to late for is getting an official event ticket which would guarantee that you would get a copy of the custom made map for this event. We can accomodate about 120 players total, but only the first 64 with official tickets (which are sold out) will get a map. If you can't get an official ticket, bring some generic tickets with you, and we will still get you into th match!
I don't think Gen Con accepts Pay Pal at this time, but that is a question better directed to Customer service at GenCon.com
Thanks again!

I really liked several of the maps designed for this contest. I'd be willing to chip in some money to have some of those other maps printed up and added to the prize pool.
Anyone else interested, or am I the only one?

It has not come up yet, but it is a great idea. Lasy year Chad printed some extras for me, I'll have to shoot him an email seeing if he can do it again. It was great to have some of the extra maps.

Gen Con is in the Indie Convention Center. So all events are located in that very large building.
As for Generic Tickets, these are used to get into events that are taking place though out the Con. Some of these are things that could have been signed up for in advance like the maxminis draft or league, others are just sign up when you want too. We can have more people sign up late for the maxminis draft as you bring 2 boosters and some prize support and we just pay for the space used with the generic tickets. I think there will be some maps as prizes so who ever did not get a map as they are using Generic Tickets, might be able to get one as a prize. | | Sean Banks Champion of Elementals Official Organizer Gen Con 05 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 06 maxminis Event | Gen Con 06 maxminis Event | Winterfantasy 07 Community Event
