| First set is heavily biased towards US/german So if you try to play a pure russian force it would be a bit limited in the minis available. You could "lend/lease" jeeps etc from the USA minis. | | | |

| | Yeah, it looks like every piece has a nationality attached to it, and there are quite a few, judging from the previews. I don't think it's going to be reasonable to field a force of Italians only from the first set. American, British, and German are probably going to be playable as single country forces, though. | | "Why am I all sticky and naked? | | It appears to be mostly European based in the first set, including US. The one Italian tank that is being released is the only Italian piece for this set. Do we have a set list already? Do we know that there is only one Italian piece? And one Japanese piece, for example?

I've reviewed all the threads there, and unless I missed it there is only speculation and attempted interpretation of the various preview photographs. Perhaps you could post a link?
As it stands, I see nothing concrete regarding the set mix. Still, it does appear that at least a couple of the tanks (a US Sherman and a German MkIV) will be uncommon. [:D]

Go for it! We'd all appreciate the effort. I'd do it, but my eyes just aren't what they used to be.

Take a look at the link below. It's a sneak preview with photos of a Japanese Type 95 tank.

| | I took a look at the close ups and it is almost impossible with my monitor to see anything. I do notice that there seems to be a few Japanese pieces which look great. The stats on most of the cards in those photos are unreadable, but the nationality symbol is easier to recognize. And the Allied minis have clearly been clustered by nationality. 4 Russian {T-34, KV-1, a rifleman & a commander) 2 french (Rifleman & R-35?) 7 UK (Including a lend/lease Stuart) (Crocodile, Crusader, Humber SC) Note; 2 of the 6 starter figures seem to be British (6pdr & Vickers MG) 6 USA and 4 more figures slightly seperated (the US minis from the starter pack)
The axis minis are harder to ID, since they are sorted by type AFV's/Infantry instead of by nationality. AFVs left to right are; Top row; Tiger, 251/1 halftrack, SIG 33, sdkfz-222 AC, Panzer II 2nd row the Japanese type-95, Panther, JagdPanther, M13/40 The Panzer IVg is down the bottom with the other minis from a starter. I havn't ID'd most of the german infantry, but nationality is 2nd row Japanese 3rd row german(Pazerfaust), italian(rifleman), german(Light Mortar), japanese, Japanese 4th row; japanese, german, japanese bottom row is 5 german minis (presumably from the starter)
I looked a bit more cloesly at the infantry, and spotted that 2 of the starter figures are british support weapons, the other 4 clearly have USA nationality symbols in top left of card.

Here is a quote and link: Thanks for the links!
From the online photos/info looks like the of the 48 units 25 are going to be Allied, leaving 23 for the Axis
Allied, US 10, UK 11, USSR 4.
Axis, 15 for Germany, 2 for Italy, 6 for Japan.

Yeah, I saw that one. But IMO it's just speculation and deduction based on photographs. I'm looking for more official word. Thanks for the link, though.

| There's a post on the AH forum which has the following breakdown, presumably from studying the photographs. I include it not because I'm persuaded it's accurate (and it's certainly not official), but because it's interesting and tasty....
Uncommon vehicles: Jeep, Sherman M4, Panzer IVg, Humber SC
Rare Vehicles: M3 Lee, Tiger, SIG-33, Panzer II, M13/40, Crocodile, T-34, KV-1
Other Vehicles: Type-95, R-35, Stuart, Crusader, Panther, Jagd Panther, 250 halftrack, sdkfz-222 AC, M4A2 Sherman, M-18
One thing that makes it interesting (to me), is that according to the designer the first set will have 15 rares. I count 18 in the Rare and Other vehicles lists above. If this is true, I would guess the 250 halftrack, sdkfz-222 AC, and one additional tank are common/uncommon. Wheeeeeeee!

Only one? They are going about it wrong already. Geez I remember playing the board game for hours, er all nighters back in the day (circa 1983). I am still finding it difficult that they came out with miniatures for this game. It doesn't seem right. Those who have played the game know (I hope) what I speak of. IIRC there wasn't even a Italian army for the board game. It was the US, Russia, England, Japan and Germany. To me improvments need to be made. Reading what is said about the game via the website. I don't forsee this being a popular skirmish game. The armor is decent at best but the figs suck. Re-packaging the mini's would be a great place to start, adding more rares. A varied starter set would be a welcome addition. I'd rather purchase the board game again than buy the boosters. | | Gehenna

I played more times than I can count.......
That said, this is NOT the board game. You have to stop thinking of it as squad based Axis and Allies the board game. You will not be able to recreate in individual battle from the board game with the miniatures.
They are using the A&A name because it is pretty well known, even in the mainstream...

I took a 4th( or possibly 5th look) at the photos, The 250 halftrack is a 251/1 The M4a2 is an M4a3 and is rare. The M18 is rare the Panther is rare. So my top guess for the 3rd uncommon tank is the Crusader.
