How about a landing craft.
And as a former 12B myself, how about some combat engineers?

I'm thinking about all of the different scenarios you could create. If the second set had a Pacific theater theme, maybe they will issue new maps with beach terrain. The attacking player could call in artillery support from the navy. Maybe we'll even have Navy aircraft. One player could set up anti-tank obstacles and minefields and.....

wait a minute....

deep breaths...

take it easy...

don't get too excited...

that's better.

When this game finally comes out, I'll probably blow at least a hundred bucks on it with my first purchase. Does AH realize what they are doing by getting us so excited and then making us wait? [)]

I recall a note that one of the future sets was named "Beach head"
So it's either Normandy or The pacific atols (or both)
A landing craft would be Huge, but DuKw or Aligator would be cool.

Don't worry about the current metagame. It doesn't matter if it's ugly, bad, or the best ever. In 2 years time, set rotation will ban everything.

I just thought that there's a problem with the concept of 'huge'... You can't really make minis that would take two hexes as one hex is supposed to be 100 metres.

I agree that landing craft and engineers would be cool. I also like the idea of a set heavily based on the African theatre.

Anyone see the movie "windtalkers"? That was WWII, right? The flamer guy in that was pretty cool.

How about fixed assets.

Fixed artilery works great with well written scenario's: Artilary has a chance to take out landing craft, and then those who land have a fixed number of turns to take out the artilery. The other team is trying to stave off the assault...

Likwise, Fixed gun emplacements (pill boxes, etc.)

How about fixed obstacles that can be played (wouldn't count against your warband size, but would have a cost... could help to strategically limit how you opponent can attack your position).

I could REALLY get into this game....

I like the idea of fixed locations. Having some cool pill boxes would be great, or even some trenches would be cool, with rules for the use.

I think that themes for the sets would be great. having an amphibious unit or some rules for bombing runs and AA guns would be great. There are a lot of choices even just sticking to WWII.
