| Well, initial facts:
6 basic map setups; In the standard scenario you roll randomly to determine which is to be used. No way on or off the map for units. On turn 7, whoever controls the objective wins the skirmish; if no one controls the objective, play on. At the end of each turn, check to see if someone controls the objective. If no-one controls the objective by the end of turn ten, count the remaining unit point values; whoever has the most units left wins.
Scale notes:
1/120, or 15 mm 1 hex is about 100 m 1 turn is about a minute (I presume this means per side.)
Well I have to go read more now; don't forget to work hard (while the boss is looking [)] )
Just my 2 ep worth,

| I hope that distorting the scale for 3D -terrain doesn't make the game feel awkward [:P]
I was able to view the rulebook a little again, and I really have a good feeling about it. Too bad it didn't appear one day eariler, I could have printed it at work then...
Objective -thing feels like a real good idea! And I believe that cover makes it much possible for lots of infantry to keep the objective from enemy tanks.
Well, it remains to be seen until we really can test the game! Well, it's already possible to simulate troops, but where's the fun in it? [:D] Well, there's still time before release, maybe we're too desperate... | | Vindicated AtG Called shot: 2nd Huge Red Dragon My collected trade reference links Star Wars tactical combat -project My modelling/terrain pages Suomen miniatyyrikeräilijät / Miniature collectors of Finland

| I am finding the rules and some of their decisions for the game interesting...
1. Why did they go with a hex system instead of a measurement system like they did for D&D minis 2. All games are 7 turns long? Another interesting rule.
Now, what I can not wait for is to play the Finish vs the Russians

| Deployment is 5 hexes in and the map is only 16 hexes long. So you can deploy at range:6 from your opponent. That will should make infantry effective. And will reduce the value of "Extended Range". | | | |

I believe that, not many Americans know about the Finnish fighting the Russians, so it is lower priority. Also, for those guys, they should be much better equiped for the cold then the Russians and probably better morale as well, helped by the leaders.

How so? By not having to divide their troops to keep Finland under control?
In 39-40 Russians advanced enough to get a few parts of Finland so they could better defend Leningrad against Germany, and as they just couldn't walk through the country as they planned, they settled for that - for a little while.
I think Finnish troops (IF they are ever made) could be presented by making them tough and giving them about 3 or so non-closecombat attacks due to lack of ammo. The last bullets are saved for close combat and another few rounds are salvaged from troops eliminated in close combat [:D] And of course there's Molotov's coctails waiting for tanks... Well, maybe I'm getting too far. | | Vindicated AtG Called shot: 2nd Huge Red Dragon My collected trade reference links Star Wars tactical combat -project My modelling/terrain pages Suomen miniatyyrikeräilijät / Miniature collectors of Finland

The Russians entered Finland unprepared for Winter Warfare. The Finns stopped the Russians stone cold w/ alot less troops. The Finns taught them a lesson about winter warfare they (USSR) used vs the unprepared germans in that 1st winter of 41 @ the Gates of Moscow. | | They just don't know what's good in life...Conan, tell them what is good in life. | Hex grids are much better for movement than squares; all distances are counted as 1, rather than the "1, 2, 1, 2" we have to use.
D&D Minis uses a square grid because of the walls.
Traditionally, interiors use squares, exteriors use hexes.

| | Merric speaks the truth. Hexes are much better for overland movement. Probably why early D&D world maps were done this way. | | WotC - making me wish more and more every day for a return to the TSR days. :( I fought the snark and the snark won. I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!

I forgot that D&D minis used squares. I am old school miniatures who still likes using a ruler/tape measurer.
