I recall an official post by A/H which said that a future set would have "assault-infantry" with SMG's instead of rifles. And most armies used several types of MG/Mortar/Anti-tank. (e.g. a .30cal & a .50 cal MG) So future expansions will probably include similar but different infantry. I would agree that the only reason to want loooots of infantry is if;
(a) You intend to glue them on multi-figure "Fire-team" bases. or
(b) You want to use them for some other minitures rules. or
(c) You want to play much bigger games than 100pts/15 units.
But if you only want to play "standard" AAM with them, then 2 cases will get you more riflemen than you could ever actually use. And 1 case will probably be adaquate.

Of course, if any of the infantry pieces in the first set is as ridiculous as the Orc Warrior....

I intend to look very carefully at the "Marine Flamethrower" to see if it's as nasty as an Orc Warrior.
The Jeep, could be an "Inspiring Mashal". Once an effective "soldier" unit is available, use the jeep to unload it in attack range. Who cares if the jeep gets destroyed, it's only 4pts. It's not even worth VP's.

I believe that the flamethrower will be really good at close range, but at range it probably is more or less helpless. Portable flamethrower doesn't have dange over close combat -range, where infantry -units seem really strong anyway, although cover still applies against them.

I would agree that we will see different figures for the infantry as sets are released. I will hope that we do not see to many resculpts but you never know. I do think that we will see more assault squad figures as there seems to be many fire squad figures already.

Lets hope for new figures each set and not resculpts or repaints... except as promos.
