| I played in a small 100 pt. event at my LFGS yesterday and actually won.
My army Allied: US "Easy Eight" x1 UK Archer x1 US Red Devil Capt. x1 Sov PPSh x2 US BAR Gunner x1 US Jeep x2
My first match was against a "rainbow force" he had 1 unit from every allied faction: a bunch of infantry as well as a Paratrooper Capt. and a regular paratrooper. His only tank was the Soviet Guards T-34/85, I managed to get good positioning on his tank and got shots with both of mine, he had terrible rolls and only managed to disrupt my easy 8. I got really good rolls and got a damage counter on his. The next turn I took out his tank, though he did manage to damage the archer with his 3" gun and he completely missed the easy 8. By round 7 he had managed to swarm the objective and kill my infantry and commander, he lost his commander in round 6. I managed to get the archer next to the objective and so we went to 10 rounds, in which I decimated what he had remaining by staying out of his range with the easy 8 and ended up winning on points only losing 25 points of 100.
My 2nd matchup was againt an Axis: He had I'm pretty sure: SS-Panther Ausf. G x1 SS-Panzergrenadier x2 SS-Haupsturmfuhrer x1 PAK 40 Antitank Gun x2 Panzergrenadier x2
He made a mistake in setting both PAK 40's on the same side and putting his tank on the other, I managed to stay behind cover and only took 2 shots from ths PAK's. I managed to get his Panther in the same predicament as my first opponent and managed to get behind the panther with the easy 8, I rolled incredibley well and after 2 turns his Panther was history. He also managed to swarm the objective, but I managed to get my commander next to it before turn 7, and I did the same thing again, first taking out the PAK 40's then his infantry, by turn 10 he had his commander and one infantry, I had both my tanks, I won on points again.
The finals, I played the opponent with the Axis I had just beaten and he did not make the same mistakes twice. He set up very well this time, but he did not swarm to the objective this time, I did with my whopping 2 PPSh's and my BAR gunner with the help of my jeeps. He played too carefully with his infantry this time and by turn 7 I had clear control of the objective and won the game, he did manage to take out my Archer and disrupt my easy 8, but victory was mine.
This was my first event and was glad it went well, we all had a blast playing and hope to play more. We have only played friendly games until now after our store got some of the prize packs we decided to play for those. | | Life is like a dogsled team, unless you are the lead dog, the view never changes.
