Is it possible to build a good army using only commons and uncommons ?

The Americans and Germans can definitely field strong U/C only armies. Note that in AAM only tanks and aircraft are rare. All infantry, commanders, light vehicles, support, etc is U/C. And some strong tanks happen to be uncommon. The US Sherman, British/US Stuart, German Elite Panzer IVD & Stug III are all excellent uncommon tanks. Only the Russians and Japanese would have a difficult time without rares.

If you enjoy DDM and are thinking about AAM, give it a shot. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how much less random the combat system is than DDM. Also, play against an experienced opponent and you will discover how tactical AAM is. Unlike DDM, it is often better not not have your enitire army engaged as soon as possible. The turn structure and objective hexes make for a lot of cat-and-mouse tactics.

We play both games in our group and we have grown very fond of the AAM system, I have always loved to try pincer or flanking attacks and all those possibilities work great with the AAM game, use of terrain as offensive or defensive options and other variables are so cool......

Another thing we like is that infantry really plays an important role and it is not just fodder.........
