Just to let you all know that we are working hard at organising the EU champs for Mid-June 2007 in Manchester (or Birmingham). Hasbro are being very helpful and have stepped up this year - meetings still to be held to firm up how this will work in practice.

2007 will not only be AAM, but also SWM, DDM and Dreamblade. We will be hiring a very large facility - presently about 25000 square feet of space in 6 rooms.

Keep June 2007 free if your European and want to test your mettle against your European friends.

One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :(

Your hard work in setting up the championship is appreciated, but why on earth did you choose the north of England? Would not it make more sense to hold a continent-wide event at a more central location like Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris or even London?

Well - why not London? The decision making process was fairly simple really. Due to the costs associated with venues and costs of living in London compared with the rest of the UK, we would end up having to charge at least twice as much. Then the decision lies between Birmingham and Manchester. The latter is much the better International hub, with flights to over 280 worldwide destinations. It is very likely we will be hosting it in Manchester.

Of course, next to London, Manchester is the second most popular tourist destination in England and is well suited. It has excellent communications within the UK also and has convention facilities that suit the event.

Why not Brussels and other European venues? There is a good chance that we'd explore that 2008 onwards, based on 2007 learnings. There is a strong reason to stick to an English speaking country though - it is the most commonly spoken language. Not many Czechs speak Spanish and very few Brits speak any other language than English (and then they're pretty bad.... [:p] ).

If you happen to be here - I can't see any reason to limit it. Welcome
