| | VERY nice pics in that first post. I couldn't make the grick picture big enough to see well, but the others were awesome! Very old-school feeling, too. | |

The key to good pics like the Wizard and Treant (from a photography POV) is LOTS of light.
Don't rely on the flash, I use a halogen work light and take 3-4 pics without the flash and usually 2 with and pick the best one of the bunch (usually one without a flash)
My equipment: A 2.0MP digital with macro function turned on so I can get REALLY close
One or 2 work lamps (one 500w square one, or 2 smaller 35w clamp-on lamps)
Possibly a 2 foot florescent tube as well, depending on the ambient light in the room. | | H/W List | Reference Thread | My Ebay Feedback Page Promo 2/22 - Harbinger 48/80 - Dragoneye 38/60 - Archfiends 36/60 - Giants 61/72 - Abberations 53/60 Deathknell 50/60 - Angelfire 36/60 - Underdark 8/60 - Wardrums 31/60

Heh [:)] While the photographs are nice, what I meant was that the painting job on the figures was really good! [:D]

Well thank you. I rather enjoy painting, but don't get much time for it lately. That was my original reason for starting to collect DDM ... lots of cheap, pre-painted minis.
I do like to try to improve on them nowa and then though.. I'll see if I can get a few pics taken of more of mine this week. | | H/W List | Reference Thread | My Ebay Feedback Page Promo 2/22 - Harbinger 48/80 - Dragoneye 38/60 - Archfiends 36/60 - Giants 61/72 - Abberations 53/60 Deathknell 50/60 - Angelfire 36/60 - Underdark 8/60 - Wardrums 31/60

The easiest thing to do to achieve a dirty, lived in look for plate armor is to take a jar of india ink, dip your brush in it, then dip that in a cap full of water Use a cap from a juice jug, or something... this isn't an exact science, but basically you want about 2 teaspoons of water to a tiny drop of ink, just enough ink to make the water murky, not pitch black. Apply this wash to the figure, let it dry and repeat as needed.

Great Tip! Now to find a jar of india ink! [?]
Edit: Found it [:D] Now I will try it in the mounted paladin repaint I am working on! [:D] | | Trades >> Completed: 49 | Bad: Ø | Pending: 0 | Trade & talk Live on IRC! SERVER: irc.psionics.net CHANNEL: #maxminis
