| | Just take a really sharp x-acto knife and carve them off. If you want to take the time you can carve into the plastic and follow the "fur" and carve new fur where the "bones" were... | | Ambassador of FUN!!! | |

| | Also, I was thinking about this, you might have some nail trimmers and get a majority of the bone clipped and then not have much more to "shave". Just a thought....[:D] | | Ambassador of FUN!!! | |

| Put water to a boil, remove from fire, toss the bear in for a bath, wait a while then remove and hold with care and start shaving, it'll be almost like scooping ice cream [)]
If you want to play it safe manage somehow not to submerge the entire bear (mostly just the base as it will warp, the rest of his body is massive and it won't). I'd suggest just dipping the back of the bear with tongues for a while then do the scooping. | | Trades >> Completed: 49 | Bad: Ø | Pending: 0 | Trade & talk Live on IRC! | | I like the nail clippers idea better myself. Not trying to invalidate your method, I'd just be afraid I'd mess it up with your boiling water trick.

| | I'm generaly carefull enough to get most of it off with clipper and then cave some fur with the xacto. I de-horned a feral minotaur last night, with just a little touch up paint I'll have a guardian demon. | | Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul | |

| ive never used boiling water but a hair dryer works wonders. I put it on the mini for bit (less than a minute of course or its HOT HOT HOT) then position it how I want and stick it under cold water, within 2 seconds I have a rock solid new positioned mini. Those skeleton guys with axes and shields and the permanent head stuck to the side....... all of mine now look forward. I like them that way :)
If you dont want to get stuff wet, just use a hair dryer on it (tape it to the table or something so it dont fly away) and clip as you warm it or shave whichever, you can easily control how soft you want the mini.
just more ideas :) I like the crafters corner.

| | I've been meaning to try the hair dryer method but I've been relunctant because I've heard if not careful you can melt the part just like a lighter. But I can see how much quicker it would be than just boiling water, etc and you can do it in the comfort of your own bed while watching tv [:D] | | Trades >> Completed: 49 | Bad: Ø | Pending: 0 | Trade & talk Live on IRC! | | I see that everyone is all into the safest ways of doing it, but i find that holding a lighter up to the part to be removed works very well, especially with a protrusion such as the "lithoderms." this way you can remold the plastic and not remove it. I find that shaving just leaves littel shiny flat spots that look horrid. just don't be dumb, or you'll have yourself a new large "brown jelly" mini... | | Champion of the Townsfolk... seriously... | |

| Ive left a 500watt halogen flood light 3 inchs away to cure the latex on them quicker for over 15 minutes, and left the hair dryer on 7 of them for over 10 minutes strait. I wouldnt worry about melting them :) Whoever melted them must of just been smashing them into the air hole for the dryer =/
Either way your pretty safe! If you go the route of hair dryer, make sure to stick it into cold water when your done. You won thave to hold the figure for 5 minutes while it cools. Just move it how you want put in cold water and it sets however it looks.

| if you have a soldering iron or wood burner you might be able to melt new hairy furroughs in the shiny spot where the bone spur was. or if you need it finer, hold a needle or a nail in a flame to get it hot (use pliers) of course, any time you melt plastic, make sure to have a fan to carry the fumes away. do NOT inhale them. | | | |
