to completely remove the paint, use leather deglazer. Let the mini soak in it a bit, then use a toothbrush to remove loose paint in crevases. rinse with water, prime and you are good to go. a word of caution....you MUST have good ventillation. This is VERY toxic (take it from the molecular biologist [:p]) Use 2 pair of gloves if possible, and change them frequently, as it will still get through. wash your hands thouroughly when done. hope this helps. look up fiebring's on ebay to find some. occasionally a local super store or shoe place will carry it to...or a tack shop

I've read that some people found Acetone to remove DDM paintjobs completely and rather fast too. I haven't tried it cuz I don't remove paintjobs when I work.

Wasnt it brake fluid that removed paint on plastic minis? If it wasnt for plastic it was for metal.

I am still trying to find a common household item to get the paint off.

While I'm all in favor of dangerous stuff, I'm pretty sure I want something a little less noxious to work with. Seems like I've tried acetone and it didn't work...that may have been with something else though, I'll have to try it again.

Caustic, lets try that stuff out on your displacer beast first. Or maybe a spare wrackspawn could be the test subject.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'm going to look into the acetone and brake fluid. I may look into the deglazer if those don't work.

Just be sure to clean her toothbrush before you put it back. [)]

not sure if the acetone (nail polish remover) will work. thinking not. good for removing super glue and enamel based paints though. brake fluid is bad!!!! that could actually burn your skin! leather deglaser is good. maybe oven off though i have never tried and that is equally toxic and would burn like brake fluid! if in doubt, just prime over in white or black [:D]

cutex = acetone with other crap in it. acetone is also good for bleaching foil magic cards (it removes the ink and leaves a cool rainbow foil behind)

i've heard lots of good things about brake fluid, and it's not all that toxic... mechanics get it all over themselves when they work. just wash thoroughly and keep away from the eyes.

Toxic_Rat -

I don't usually strip them! Just wash them with mild dish soap and give them a black prime. They should be ready to go.

Well your work looks pretty good, so it must work. What do you use as a primer/paint?

Delta Ceramcoat black - thinned (about 1 part water : 2 parts paint).

I paint mine on with a brush.

I've had no problems with Acetone and an old toothbrush. I'd try it with a cheap common first. (Who needs all those wrackspawns anyway?!? ;) )

No one uses Pine Sol? It works on my Warhammer minis ... I haven't tried to strip DDM yet, usually just primed right over them.
