This is more of a comment on the vrock than advice. I think all the vrocks lean severely over. Everyone that I have seen does. | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse

| Interesting. Well, I'd like to repair the foot anyway, and if there is an effective way to "train" minis parts away from their natural leanings, that would be helpful to know.

| | Although I haven't tried it myself, many advocate the hot water method. I believe it involves dipping the mini in hot water (boiling?) for a couple of seconds. In many cases, I believe the mini "remembers" its proper shape, but can also be bent into a new shape. If it is then held in the correct position while it cools, or is dipped into cool/cold water, it should continue to hold its shape. | |

| Hot water...that makes sense. That's like the "heat and pop" technique used for pulling the heads off action figures.
I wonder if I could heat the Vrock, and build a little "cast" for him to hold him vertical while he cools...

| I've successfully fixed my Vrock with the hot/cold water method.
The Vrock is a somewhat "thicker" figure so it will require a bit longer time in the hottub [)]
The way I do it is I bring water to an almost boil (fuming and little bubbles at the bottom); while waiting get some ice and dump it in a large bowl and add cold water, make sure you got enough room to put minis in, take the hot water off the flame, grab the injured mini and (use plyers) submerge the affected area intot the water and depending on the part wait a few seconds (about 5 seconds for thin swords to about 1 minute for an Ettin arm) then make sure it retains the desire shape as it'll be very soft and dump it in the ice cold water and leave it there; sometimes you might have to do this a few times (for thicker pieces) untile you reset the plastic's memory.
The problem with the Vrock is that the injured part includes the one claw and submerging the entire miniature will affect the base and those are hard to keep from warping.

| | Just to second what Glumag said--the hot water trick works wonders. It took a couple times though for my vrock. Thought it was fixed after the first hot water dump, but then came back the next day and it had bent itself again. The second dunking seems to have cured it. | | Quis custodiet ipsos custodes--Who will gaurd the guards? Champion of the Commoner Mob Leader | |

| If you're impatient like me, holding them over the steam from a boiling kettle works well too. But use tweezers! | | HW List: http://www.maxminis.com/hwlist.asp?user=DrX References: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12409

| I actually use the hair dryer method. Just put it on high heat and blow it over the entire mini. (watch your hand) bend into desired shape and hold till cool. Fixed an entire HRD this way when it got flattened in a bookbag.
Best to do this when you have time to sit in front of the TV or something.
The bases themselves actually retain their memory if you work at it enough. Ive flattened my vrock base before and most Huge bases will right themselves if they are just sat out over a long period of time.
As for the Vrock. I tend to find success in using his offbase wing as a counter point to stand him up strait, just bend it so that the tip of the wing is on the same lvl as the base. This works wonders and keeps him from tipping to the side. | | Champion of the Alhoon and my called shot for Unhallowed Blood War Called Shot: Phoenix Trade withe me!

| | Well, there you have it. Pretty much all ways have been said. I've even used a lighter (at a safe, non melting distance) and it seemed to work quick. But The hot water treatment is still the safest and best way. As for bases, I use a heat gun. But if you don't have one handy, a blow dryer will work after awhile. | | 183 Completed trades with the best people on the net! | |
