| | for the base, I made a mold using super sculpey and some heroquest skulls. just indented them in around an divet more or less. once that was set, used that to shape the epoxy. Quick paint, wash and drybrush, all done (once epoxy dried of course). not gonna worry about 3 fingers. though I am most likely gonna strip the paint from so far and do with black and interference green. the jade is looking too light, and will have to be too thick to darken. | | Good judgement comes from wisdom. | If you are not happy with the jade color (which I think looks cool) you can always use an ink and do a wash. I would suggest a thin wash with water....[:D]

| | jade has been removed. like the color, but too clumpy to get the darkness I am wanting...anti-paladin and all...it is one of my testor's paints. So, dunked he was and the interference green shall go on. I can always do another one with the jade. Heck, I have 2 more of them! [)] Might work on it tonight, depending on when I get back from minis... | | Good judgement comes from wisdom. Wisdom comes from bad judgement. Member Team ROH Qwijoma on Wizards Boards | |

So, when you say "dunked" what are you refering to? I have stripped paint off of many a metal mini but have not even tried to re-paint any of the DDM......yet. [:)] | | Ambassador of FUN!!!

| Well, as he was already stripped, in this case I just had to use some paint thinner like normal (since it was testor's). However, to strip the paint off of DDM (and Mage knight) in the first place, Fiebring's Leather Deglazer (or any leather deglazer/dye remover) is the way to go. Dip for 30 seconds or so and brush off with toothbrush to get stuff out of the crevases. Don't leave in too long or you will get slight peeling and rubberiness as the PVC bonds break down. That will snap back in a few days. Rinse off with water and you are set. See this thread for some examples of stripped and painted DDM... http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8634

| | Interesting...I have used pine-sol as a strip solution for the last few years....not as harsh on the skin and such. Besides I am a sucka for the fumes of a North Carolina pine forest....[:)] | | Ambassador of FUN!!! | |

| I like the sounds of the Black base with Green over the top. That should be extremely menacing.
griffrat> How long do you have to dunk your minis in Pine-Sol before the paint starts coming off? Do you need to scrub them? Is the plastic soft enough so that it scratches?

| More in progress pics. As you can see, did the interference green over the black. Will probably leave the shield and sword black and hightlight with steel. And that is copper as the trim, not orange like it kind of looks like! Should be done tommorow or so...

| | Thanks for the input and compliments [:I] I had made the base as an experiment...actually made 3...and then when I placed him over it was like 'huh...he has lil stubby legs' so he couldn't be directly over the skull in center, or it would look silly. This way maybe he is coming up over the pile of skulls that he created, looking to add some more. And I posed this on the Wizards boards as well...give him a name! | Would there be some way to shape/bend one of the legs so where one foot would be on top of the skull pile?
As far as a name, how about the obvious?
Warforged Blackguard
Though, I'm not all that familiar with Eberron, I'm not sure if it would even exist.
All in all, great job! Much better then I could even dream of doing. | | Completed Sets 10/13 Completed Trades: 124 Pending: Bad:1-Zandar81 (WotC) Took mail fraud charges to get minis he owed me.

| Oh man! what an outstanding job! [:D]
I hate warforged but this one is one awesome miniature; the paint job is phenomenal, the rustiness to it just makes it that much more deadly looking.
My only critique would be #1) that I don't own it [)] #2)That the horns get a bit lost with their current color/paint, at least in the pictures.

| I think he should be called Hrothgar the Greedy, or Hrothgar the Corruptor.
I've always liked Norse names, and since his armor is green, he should be either Greedy or Corrupt. | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

| How about something simple that reflects his color and has a suitably harsh sounding name like
Verdigris the Corrupter
Verdigris is the color of "rusting copper" (I am a metallurgist and I know it is not actual "rust"). | | Built the addition for this addiction, now on to the "gaming table" project.... http://www.maxminis.com/hw_list.asp?user=Zenako last updated 29 May 2006 Set Status: in a nutshell = all of all In Process trades 0), (Sig last updated 05/29/06) 300 plus Completed Trades -

oxidation comes to mind and the loss of electrons for some reason...[:D] nuthin butlove for ya!!
But good call none the less on the color Wish that I didn't have a test on Friday on cell mechanincs and DNA repair...[:(] I really want to paint....oh well pity party is over!!
Can, I have worked with metal minis and pine sol only so I have no idea on the effect of a DDM and pine sol. As to metal mins...If you are in a rush you can dunk for about an hour and then a tooth brush and some running water. Repeat as needed. I have got some old Crucible minis that have been soaking for about four years now....[:o] | | Ambassador of FUN!!!

| | The class is pretty cool and it is for a grad degree in pharm/tox. Because of it my groups sound like nycfarmkid's lamentation. Although, fall break is coming up in a couple of weeks and the group is getting back together for a little session. So have faith and know that the baddie is out there. As long as Thokk is making the figs I am sure there is a story to go with it that has yet to be played out....[}:)] | | Ambassador of FUN!!! | |
