| | Part of one of the gothic molds is thin 1/4" I believe? I'll measure but I'll show you what I'm talking about tonight in my next try... I'm slowly molding away. I picked the corridor because it was the easiest.. I did not glue or anything just "legoed" it. I took it all back down gimme some other ideas of tiles to test. I really want to get all my techniques down before I tackle this head on. | |

| Splendid. I almost ordered the Egyptian tiles myself after seeing this. (That's what you used. Right? )I'll do it, but I have to stick to my budget. Did you simply followed the instructions on Hirst Arts or were there any secret rituals ? Without trying to diminish your talent, if a first completed tile looks that good maybe I stand a chance at building a fantastic location all by myself. Too bad I'm the only one I know in person that collects miniatures and thinks of building castles from molds. Anyhow, don't let me put you down. Great great job. I'm looking forward to see the next tile you complete... | | Champion of Cockatrices. I wish I never wished a wand of wishing. (Wishful thinking.) Join the Eternal Campaign! | I'll see what I can do. Did Not use egyptian molds. I used basic block molds and for the floor the cracked floor tiles mold. They are really nice. I'll get you the hirst arts molds number for you. Tonight. You'll see the thin walls tonight.
A general question:
Does 3 stack high seem good? Should I go 4? Or is 3 perfect?

I think 3 looks good with the Medium minis, but it may look off for larges. I'd say do 4 high.[)] When I did molds for my walls They were 2 1/2" tall, so that's what, 5 levels high using Hirst blocks? | | 183 Completed trades with the best people on the net!

with medium figures 3 high looks good, but if you put a large in there I think it will stick over the top. | | Quis custodiet ipsos custodes--Who will gaurd the guards? Champion of the Commoner Mob Leader

I see my mistake. You probably used Cracked Floor Tiles (Mold #203) for the floor and Basic Block (Mold #40) or Basic Block Small Mold (Mold #100) for the walls. Anyway, it is well done. | | Champion of Cockatrices. I wish I never wished a wand of wishing. (Wishful thinking.) Join the Eternal Campaign! Chat about miniatures.

| Very nice!! The cracked floor tile is one of the best molds out there. If you look in the back of the DMG you will see a stricking theme...[:)]
On the thickness of walls it appears that DJ is using the inch block. Thinner walls can be made by just using a single block wall which would be a 1/2 inch wide. This is the approach that I am taking,, since I can place the walls on the inch tiles. I have the boss' camera so I will snap some pics and post after a while...[:)]
Edit:
Here is a pic that I just snapped showing the scale of the 1/2 inch wall. I have not gotten around to paintin the wall as of yet. Since I don't have much plaster left I am going to be shackeled to the paint desk

| DJ:
Your on target: Get the Gothic accessory mold to get the thin walls. Your going to find that you will cast a bazillion times to get enough pieces though. If your really getting into it, I'd suggest making a new mold out of thin wall pieces so you can churn them out a bit faster.
As for height, 3 blocks high is fine for walls with space. But really, you will find in that corridor, that when there isn't space (i.e. just 2 squares across to another wall) your going to ahve issues with the larger figures.
Stick with 2 blocks high for tight quarters, but generally 3 tall is good elsewhere...

| Tight corners is an issue, you can address by making the wall removable as well. Below is what I am using for the wall scheme. The * are the wall half inch blocks on inch tiles. The X are the actual one inch floor tiles. During tight combats where a model gets backed into a corner; the wall can be removed.
